NFL 2010’s Report Card Part 8: The AFC West

Well here we are the final division to go. It’s been an interesting division for the most part. Let’s see how these last 4 stack up.

Denver Broncos (95-75) B+ Win% 55
Playoff appearances 5
Playoff record 6-4
Division Titles 5
Head Coaches 5.5
Best Result 2015

Denver has really been on a roller coaster ride the entire decade. Peyton Manning brought Stability and led them to 2 Super Bowls winning it all riding into the Sunset in Super Bowl 50. However they took a step back after that. I don’t think I need to bring up the past quarterback failures (Brock Oswiler, Trevor Simian, Paxton Lynch, Case Keenum, Joe Flacco, Brandon Allen, and now Drew Lock) None of them have been successful and that has all but killed this team. The offense has all but stalled. And the Defense can’t do everything.

Kansas City Chiefs (98-70) A- Win% 58
Playoff appearances 7
Playoff record 2-6
Division Titles 5
Head Coaches 3
Best Result 2018

Kansas City has steadily improved throughout the decade. They were Awful early on then they picked up Andy Reid and got a serviceable Quarterback in Alex Smith and they became a playoff contender. The only problem is that they can’t win in the playoffs. 2-6 in the playoffs isn’t exactly a good record. In 2018 we got Patrick Mahomes but even still Defense has been the biggest Achilles heel of this team.

Los Angeles Chargers (79-85) C- Win % 48
Playoff appearances 2
Playoff record 2-2
Division Titles 0
Head Coaches 3
Best Result 2018

The Chargers have been pretty mediocre for most of the decade. Even with Phillip Rivers the Chargers haven’t been able to find much success. It also doesn’t help when you move to a city filled with Raider fans and they don’t give a damn about you. Having to play 16 road games in a year is not fair. Just move back to San Diego where you belong

Oakland Raiders (63-98) F Win % 39
Playoff appearances 1
Playoff record 0-1
Division Titles 0
Head Coaches 6
Best Result 2016

Oakland has had an underwhelming decade for sure. Only 1 winning season and 1 playoff game in a decade isn’t exactly great. 2016 looked like it would be their year until Carr got injured. To be honest they still haven’t fully recovered from it. They have some potential but yeah they have been so bad. Having fun under Gruden guys? Oh yeah and have fun in Vegas. That will change everything

Division Totals (335-328) Win % 50
Average Wins 83
Average Losses 82
Playoff Record 10-13
Super Bowls 1

Well this concludes the report Cards for the 2010’s Class dismissed until September 2020
Onto the next decade. Good luck to all
