Top 10 Best Rick and Morty Episodes
This isn't just about picking favorites. It's about honoring the episodes that made you laugh, question reality, or yell "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub!" at totally inappropriate moments. The ones with alternate timelines, memory parasites, or just Rick turning into some weird thing again.
These episodes didn't just pass the time, they grabbed it by the plumbus and made it weird in the best way.
So scroll through, reminisce about the plot twists that melted your brain, the nihilism that made you laugh, and the talking cats that made you feel... things. Then slap a vote on the ones that deserve it. Or don't. Rick probably wouldn't care. But you will.

The Ricklantis Mixup
While Rick and Morty set off for an undersea adventure, the episode follows the complex political and social dynamics within the Citadel of Ricks. Various storylines interweave to portray corruption, rebellion, and the rise of a new power.
When I saw this episode, it instantly became my favorite. A nice, relaxing adventure in Atlantis. Am I right?
Seriously though, this episode was phenomenal. The story was great, and the characters were great, too. I'm not going to spoil anything here since this episode is new as of me writing this, but I went into this episode knowing nothing about it. I suggest that you do the same if you haven't seen it yet.
This episode is overwhelming and, for me, by far the best one. It is the perfect metaphor for our society and combines some of the most controversial topics all in one episode. The arrangement of scenes is also genius and makes one big flow out of four plotlines.
Nothing is more satisfying to watch in this show than the ending of this episode. It just pushes it to the top.

Total Rickall
A parasite infestation causes the Smith household to become overrun with false memories and fabricated characters. The family must determine who is real and who is an implanted persona.
There is pure action and entertainment sprinkled all throughout this episode. It's no wonder that it's the most popular episode of the series.
It has to be Total Rickall! No doubt, it was the most entertaining, most interesting, most creative, and perfect storyline. This is by far my favorite episode.

Close Rick-Counters of the Rick Kind
A series of murders lead the Council of Ricks to arrest Rick, prompting an investigation that uncovers a conspiracy involving an evil version of himself. Morty confronts the ethics of being a sidekick in a multiverse of Ricks.
I like it that the Mortys were tortured. That's what Morty deserves for blaming Rick for the love potion that he was irresponsible with.
Really interesting plot, brilliant and funny dialogue, and just 100% what we expect from Rick and Morty.
One of the things that really got me into this show.
-
The Rickshank Rickdemption
Rick escapes from Galactic Federation custody by manipulating memories and initiating a computer virus. His actions dismantle the Federation and return control of Earth to its original government.
This is, without doubt, the greatest episode of Rick and Morty. It was the funniest, darkest, most epic, and most clever. One of the most emotional episodes, and this isn't mentioning the ending, which was surprising, hilarious, and a great reference to the pilot.
For me, every Rick and Morty episode is kind of hit or miss. Either it is okay, or it is amazing! Even the amazing episodes have at least one element that I dislike about them. This episode is the exception!
It perfectly balances everything that is great about the show. It ties in a lot of other episodes without feeling crowded. Amazing.

Meeseeks and Destroy
Rick introduces Mr. Meeseeks boxes to help the family with simple tasks, but the situation spirals when the tasks prove too complex. Meanwhile, Rick and Morty go on a fantasy-style adventure with dangerous consequences.
The Meeseeks crack me up every time. Even though their voice is a little ridiculous, they never annoy me and make me laugh. There's something about them. I also very much enjoyed how dumb Jerry was. The side quest with Morty's adventure was pretty great. I loved the loving connection between Rick and Morty too. Perfect episode, in my opinion.
I really enjoyed this one. The Meeseeks were quite entertaining and it was sweet how Rick comforted Morty after the jellybean incident.
-
Lawnmower Dog
Rick and Morty enter the dreams of Morty's teacher to influence his grades while Jerry's request to make the family dog smarter goes out of control. The dog gains sentience and stages a canine uprising.
The most underrated episode. It shows the perfect formula for the show: give Morty's family a distraction which ends up backfiring while Rick and Morty go on an adventure. Loved the Inception references.
I like this episode because at the beginning the dog pees on the carpet and Jerry (Morty's dad) pushes his head on the urine.
Where are my testicles, Summer?
-
Rick Potion #9
Rick creates a love potion for Morty that mutates the entire human population, causing a global catastrophe. They abandon their dimension and replace alternate versions of themselves in a new timeline.
This one was so funny when everyone was lusting for Morty. The principal was especially funny!
This set the tone of the series for me. It's dark and messed up, but it's also funny.
This episode brought the show from a great show to a complete TV masterpiece.
-
Rixty Minutes
Rick modifies the family's TV to access infinite realities, showcasing alternate versions of popular media. The family watches bizarre programs while confronting the implications of their possible lives.
This episode had a great ending.
-
Pickle Rick
Rick transforms himself into a pickle to avoid family therapy and becomes entangled in a violent conflict with a foreign embassy. Meanwhile, the rest of the family attends a tense therapy session.
Definitely one of my favorites of season 3. Plus, it was the first episode I watched from this show!
Great writing, beautiful animation, and action scenes. Definitely the best episode.
I turned myself into a pickle, Morty! I'm Pickle Rick!
-
The Ricks Must Be Crazy
Rick and Morty travel into the microverse inside Rick's car battery to fix a malfunction. They discover a society built around energy production and confront ethical dilemmas about exploitation.
I don't know how this is so low on the list at #7. It was really good all the way through. Total Rickall is overrated. It was just random. To be honest, I'm going to upset some people, but I thought Mortynight Run was the worst episode. Usually, lower episodes will have a few things going for them, but not that one. It only had the Moonmen song, which showed random trippy moments. Honestly, I felt like that episode should never have come out. It was like it was made for potheads or people doing shrooms.
You take away those two song parts, and there are literally no good parts or any decent plot in the whole episode. It's trash! But The Ricks Must Be Crazy was a rollercoaster all the way through.

The Wedding Squanchers
The Smith family attends Birdperson's wedding, which is revealed to be a trap set by the Galactic Federation. Rick surrenders to protect his family as they go into hiding.
This isn't necessarily the best episode, but I teared up when Rick drops the photo of himself, Birdperson, and Squanchy.
It was awesome how they played Nine Inch Nails' Hurt at the end.
-
A Rickle in Time
After freezing time, Rick, Morty, and Summer cause a temporal fracture that splits their reality into multiple unstable timelines. They must restore the timeline before being erased by time police.
-
Look Who's Purging Now
Rick and Morty visit a planet with an annual purge event, where citizens commit crimes without consequence. Morty becomes increasingly violent, revealing his darker tendencies.
This one is seriously underrated. I really enjoyed this one, and The Ricks Must Be Crazy really surprised me. It was really good. Total Rickall was okay. It was just random and weird. It didn't really have a twist or good plot. I don't know why it's up there. Close Rick-Counters of the Rick Kind was overrated. It was good, but didn't live up to the hype for me.
-
M. Night Shaym-Aliens!
Rick, Morty, and Jerry are trapped in a simulated reality by alien scammers trying to extract scientific knowledge. Rick manipulates the simulation layers to outwit the aliens and escape.
I just love all the glitches. The glitching kickball, the boss walking into the corner, the hot dogs and bun in the middle, all that weird stuff.
A simulation within a simulation inside another simulation!
Jerry's best day ever. More like best Jerry episode.
-
Mortynight Run
Morty tries to save a sentient gas cloud while Rick sells weapons to an assassin. The situation escalates into a moral conflict with deadly consequences.
An underrated episode. The art and writing are stunning, and I wish this episode got more recognition.
Really loved this episode! Especially the song Goodbye Moonmen. It was speechless to hear. Also, an amazing plot twist.
My life is a joke! *Drives ship into the ground.*
-
Anatomy Park
Rick builds a microscopic amusement park inside a homeless man's body, which Morty explores. The park's internal systems fail, causing a deadly outbreak and forcing an emergency escape.
-
The Vat of Acid Episode
Rick forces Morty to appreciate his ideas by creating a fake acid vat scenario that ends disastrously. Morty later uses a do-over device irresponsibly, leading to unintended emotional consequences.
This episode is much better than all of the others in season 4.
-
Get Schwifty
Giant alien heads appear in the sky demanding to be entertained with music, forcing Earth to create a song competition. Rick and Morty write a hit song while society falls into cult-like worship of the aliens.
This episode should be higher on the list. It was so good! The plot was creative and entertaining. Also, even though this is Adult Swim, there actually was still a subtle moral in there (which is great! You're never too old for morals). Morty learned not to abandon the ones you care about when they're in need and to have faith in their abilities. Rick was by far at his most likable self in this episode, and when he hugged Morty in the end, it was so sweet! Overall, I really enjoyed Get Schwifty and it should be ranked higher on this list.
Entertainingly mocked the true stupidity of religion.
-

Rick and Morty join a superhero team to defeat a villain named Worldender, only to find Rick has preemptively sabotaged the mission. The team faces lethal challenges revealing their flaws and secrets.
-
Rattlestar Ricklatica
Morty interferes with a snake planet's history by saving one of its inhabitants, triggering a complex time-travel war. Rick and Morty attempt to fix the timeline before it destabilizes reality.
-
Edge of Tomorty: Rick Die Rickpeat
Rick Die Rickpeat: Morty becomes obsessed with a death crystal that shows visions of his ideal demise. Rick repeatedly dies and transfers his consciousness into alternate realities while trying to return home.
-
Interdimensional Cable 2: Tempting Fate
Tempting Fate: While Jerry receives alien hospital treatment, Rick and Morty watch bizarre television programs from alternate dimensions. The episode includes improvised skits and unrelated media parodies.
I refuse to sign the legislation that allows Interdimensional Cable 2: Tempting Fate to be this low on the list because it is a great episode despite what Justin Roiland said.
I was shocked to see this not even in the top 20. This was by far the funniest episode ever. When I watched it high, the randomness of it was just gold.
-
Tales from the Citadel
Multiple narratives unfold within the Citadel of Ricks, exploring class divisions, police corruption, and political upheaval. A new Rick rises to power through manipulation and calculated violence.
Personally, it's my favorite of season three, and my second favorite in the series. Great episode!

Ricksy Business
While Jerry and Beth are away, Rick and Summer throw a chaotic party that spans multiple dimensions. Morty and Summer attempt to clean up the mess before their parents return.
Morty was very relatable in this one. Rick was also awesome. This episode is underrated.
