Other Underrated Legendary Japanese Rock Bands

ronluna X-Japan, D'ERLANGER, BOOWY, DEAD END, LUNA SEA, LOUDNESS, BUCK-TICK are one of the bands who introduced visual kei and metal in Japan.

Why does X-Japan are only given so much credit? Its a shame that these above mentioned bands excluding X-Japan are not well credited in other countries outside Japan.

D'ERLANGER is one of the main reason of the sound of most visual kei bands like Dir en grey, DEAD END influenced many bands like L'Arc~en~Ciel, BUCK-TICK, Janne Da Arc, Kiyoharu, Luna Sea, kagerou, etc listed in the booklet with the DVD of INFINITY by DEAD END. LOUDNESS is one of the bands who attain international success and BOOWY is another band who is the band who started Japanese band. Very underrated. They need higher credits. Don't give all the credits to X-Japan. X-Japan is great but without other bands that helped in the formation of visual kei and Japanese rock their sound will be worse or different.

They have a lot of debts of borrowing their (the above bands I've mentioned)
sound to make their own.

other 80s great japanese bands: GASTUNK, ANTHEM

Dir en grey is in the same era or newer than bands like L'Arc~en~Ciel, BUCK-TICK, Janne Da Arc, Kiyoharu, Luna Sea, kagerou.

X japan didnt copy of those other bands considering they do soppy ballads, heavy metal songs and epic songs. They were pionneers as they dressed and performed the best than the other bands. Also X japan produced Dir en grey, luna sea and glay probably 3 of the most successful bands in jrock history. Thats why they're given credit as they produced the bands of the future and persisted longer than many and constantly wrote great music most in the top 5 oricon charts per single. and also they've only sold 20 million. Also X japan were a year before d'erlanger so they were first so in all fairness they are first before d'erlanger and so can be given the title of visual kei pioneers. - TD17

wtf what about boowy? - ronluna

the year which is earlier is not a great issue here, it has something to do with the fans, with the annoying fans, the one-only great band to their opinion - ronluna

Yeah, these legendary bands should be given credit too, I mean, these bands where sort of like revolutionizing the japanese rock and youth scene in those days, they brought the punk and heavy rock sounds abroad from UK to a form that the japanese could relate to. Now THAT'S pretty awesome. And for example BUCK-TICK is still out there rocking and doing what they have always done best, with the same group since '83. That really says something - visitor
