Best Glee Singers

The Top Ten

Lea Michele (Rachel Berry) Lea Michele Sarfati is an American actress, singer and author. She began her career as a child actress on Broadway, appearing in productions of Les Misérables, Ragtime, Fiddler on the Roof, and Spring Awakening.

She is clearly the best singer on glee. She has the best mix of all. She can belt the longest notes. She has the emotion that captivates an audience. I can count so many of her songs that made me tear up due to her talent and emotion, from cry to her last Fanny audition to make you feel my love and my man. When she does a performance she puts her whole heart and soul into that song. She is truly incredible

Miss Rachel Berry. Although I thought she was overrated she was a killer singer and I cannot deny that one. She could sing damn good!

I just think Lea Michele's voice is amazing. Naya Rivera's voice is amazing. But everyone always says Naya's voice is the best but I don't know it just doesn't seem as touching to me as Rachel's. Lea Michele ( Rachel Berry) steals the show. I mean she shows so much emotion in her songs, and Amber Riley is good too. It's just I want to be a famous singer when I'm older and I think Lea is very inspirational. And she actually knows how to cry. Like when Finn broke up her on the last episode, it made me cry and I never cry in things, not a lot of the time. But she made it seem so real, but if you are a true gleek, you think every one on glee is a great singer, even Mike Chang! BUT THAT's Just My Opinion, I mean I used to not like Rachel, but now I like her because I don't know like I said, she steals the show!

She had a really powerful voice, and those high long notes are amazing

Naya Rivera (Santana Lopez) Naya Rivera Dorsey is an American actress and singer, known for playing Santana Lopez on Fox's musical comedy-drama television series Glee.

She has a unique voice and a interesting character with a lot of dept. Why is she the way she is? You could see the pain in her eyes and in her voice when she is given the chance to sing. She went from probably the least favorite character in the show to one of the biggest fan favorite. It is showing that season 3 is her season and I would put her at the same level as Rachel and Mercedes when it come to singing. Personally my favorite character to hear sing.

Naya has an amazing voice, and as far as I am concerned she has the best voice, and is ahead of Lea by a long shot. Naya has amazing pitch, and can sing a song with such clarity and devotion. Naya is one of the best voices in Glee.

Naya has a voice that makes you want to listen. Her voice has a certain emotional quality that really enhances her singing. Whereas Lea has a Broadway voice, Naya has a soulful and unique voice...

She is an underrated character who has an amazing voice but never gets enough credit

Amber Riley (Mercedes Jones)

Mercedes can just hit those notes that no one else on this show can. Why did they always give the high note to Mercedes instead of Rachel? Why did most of the hits that take an amazing vocal ranges such as Mariah's and I will always love you go to her? Because she is the best singer on glee by her voice alone.

She has an amazing voice! Some of her performances have actually made me cry. Lea Michele is good but she's a bit overrated on the show. Amber Riley is by far the most talented on glee! I love her!

I think she is better than lea michele but mercedes don't have security for your voice our all the she

She is underrated and far more versatile than Rachel. Best singer on the show.

Darren Criss (Blaine) Darren Everett Criss is an American actor, singer, and songwriter. One of the founding members and co-owners of StarKid Productions, a musical theater company based in Chicago, Criss first garnered attention playing the lead role of Harry Potter in StarKid's musical production of A Very Potter Musical. ...read more.

Darren has the best tone and most vocal versatility, of any singer on the show, hands down. There's no other singer on the show, that can sound so completely in their wheelhouse, whether they are singing current hip hop, classic rock or crooning the standards of Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby.

Everyone else on the show, sounds best, when they stick to certain genres; but Darren can literally sing anything! Not to mention the fact that his phrasing, is nothing short of brilliant. More often than not, he actually sounds better than the songs original singer.
Even Glee's musical producer said Darren was the best singer, when he was asked.

Lea, Amber, and Chris and may have bigger voices and higher ranges, but a beautiful timber, great adaptability, and amazing artistry, will beat those things out every time!

...And don't even get me started, on what a phenomenal performer he is! Darren is one of the true greats and he is only getting better!

Such a big, strong, unique voice. He is a true performer and he blows everyone's minds when he performs. I'm sure he has the best male voice in Glee. He can sing anything with the same passion. From pop hits to indie and from indie to Broadway, he never disappoints his fans when he sings. I know many people say that he has too many solos, but come on! It would be unfair if GLEE couldn't see his amazing talent and charisma. It's very rare for someone to be equally a great singer and actor, but Daren is an incredible example of a person with many talents. You can tell from the tone of his voice when he sings that he is an incredible actor, because of the emotion that his voice has. It's always incredible to hear this guy singing.

Darren Criss is the best male singer on Glee. His vocal range is F2 TO G5, which is really impressive. Every time he sings, I come really close to crying because he puts so much emotion into every song. I have never been disappointed when he sings and I know I never will.

Kevin and Chris have bigger range. Not saying Darren is bad he's definitely good his range isn't the most impressive.

Darren has a wide range, with amazing agility. He has light, tenor highs but he can hit smooth baritone lows and keep his strength and support throughout. He exudes confidence in his singing and has a unique tone.

Chris Colfer (Kurt Hummel)

His range is absolutely incredible and he knows how to sing with both a head voice and a chest voice. He can sing both the mezzo-soprano high note and the baritone low note, with the impressive ability to sing from an A2 to a Bb5. 3 octaves and one note of pure, clear tones. In season one, everything he knew was purely self-taught, to Rachel Berry's extensive vocal training gifted to her by her dads. Sure, maybe he wasn't as good as maybe he would have been had he had lessons, but he was still able to compete on relatively even grounds with Rachel, while in her vocal wheelhouse, despite purposely botching it for his father's sake. However, he stopped getting near as much limelight, so people easily ignored his character, talent and, most of all, passion. His solos are pretty much always either deep and meaningful or fun and uplifting. Whatever he does, he does with intent and emotion. By far, his voice is the most individual and unique of all the voices, rare and entirely one of a ...more

Kurt is amazing, love him! He has an incredible range from the really low notes to up the high notes! He is great!

Chris Colfer has an incredible voice and impressive vocal range. He's highly underrated and He sing great with Chest Voice and Head Voice. He should have more solos. Also, he haven't special vocal training in series, something that makes hem even better!

Chris has a wonderful range, great breath control and uses a unique blend of male and female vocal techniques. He can transition through a song using both technical styles and have it sound fantastic ("Got To Get You Into My Life"). His season 1 solos were essentially done using self-taught skills, so they are very good, but not as skilled as they could have been. Unlike most other Glee performers, Chris' voice in some ways prevented him from getting vocal training; many vocal coaches wanted to wait until his voice "settled." By season 3, Colfer's technique had matured wonderfully, but his song participation was reduced. In season 4, Colfer was only heard in 13 songs, compared to Darren Criss' 36. Even Lea Michele only got 26 songs, but newbies scored as many as 27 songs. Season 5 is allowing more participation by Colfer and it's obvious that his vocal techniques have blossomed. Glee really has a fantastic group of young singers, including everyone on this list (and Alex Newell).

Dianna Agron (Quinn Fabray) Dianna Elise Agron is an American actress, singer, and dancer. In 2006, Agron made her television debut as Jessica Grant on CSI: NY. From 2006 to 2007, Agron had recurring roles on Veronica Mars as Jenny Budosh, and Heroes as Debbie Marshall.

Her voice is so angel-like! I just love her I wish she got some more solos because I really enjoyed her sing.

Her voice is so sweet and gentle, she literally sounds like an angel

she is literally the best singer in the entire glee. totally overrated. she has a lovely and gentle voice, even though she was HEAD cheerios

Most unique voice on the show... She isn't a powerhouse and it really doesn't matter.

Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina Cohen-Chang)

The best singer in glee. She can sing any songs perfectly. She's on of my top 3 singers (Jenna, Naya, Darren). It's so sad that she didn't get enough songs in glee. She can belt and hold notes for a long period of time (up to 10 seconds) like she did in More Than A Feeling, Because You Loved Me, You Can't Stop The Beat, Dog Days Are Over. She can sing powerful songs like Amber did and sweet or gentle songs. Too bad that she didn't get a chance to show off all of her talent, but you can find her "hidden talent" if you listen carefully to some of her songs. And not to mention that her voice sometimes can be mistaken for Naya and sometimes for Lea (Many people thought Jenna's solo in You Can't Stop The Beat was Lea's solo, but it has been confirmed it was in fact Jenna). And she also sound wonderful during her duet with Darren, Naya, Lea, Amber, and Mark. But unfortunately not only Tina got very small amount of solos, but also very small amount of duets. But you can find her ...more

Jenna's versatile voice can rival Naya's uniqueness, her voice with no doubt is like chameleon to point sometimes you get confused ABOUT WHO'S THE ONE SINGING! Her crystalline voice in songs like True Colors, Wide Awake, Shake it Out. Her strenght that rival's that of her castmate Lea Michele in songs like Because You Loved Me, I Don't How To Love Him, Roar and This Is The New Year. Her raspy voice that's great for Gaga songs like Bad Romance and Born This ways or in songs like Mary's Little Boy Child. Her mezzo soprano voices let's her be without doubt one of the best options for duets as it let's her going from high notes to low to the point, some thing you can see in songs like (Hung Up, Dog Days Are Over, Flashdance, ABC, 3, LOVE, I Folow Rivers), she also posses a great vibrato which makes her able to do great belts like in Seasons Of Love or Don't Dream Is Over and an incredible falsetto that makes her voice sound happy like in ABC and that makes her use less autotune in songs ...more

Jenna had a beautiful voice and I believe she was very underrated ! I wish she had more solos in the show very underrated.

I think that Tina-Cohen Chang is often underrated. Just as the show has mentioned, she has been ignored since the very beginning. Some people complain that she's a mysterious or confusing character, but that is only because she gets ignored because the show wants to focus on other characters. I get that she's not the main character, but it's not her fault that she doesn't get as big of a storyline. She has a great and versatile voice. Let's hope she's in Season 6 and is given a bigger storyline and more solos. I think she is incredibly likable, and we see these in minor ways throughout the series. One example was when she got Mike in college. Anyways, I know your name #TinaCohen-Chang! Bring her back Season 6!

Kevin McHale (Artie Abrams)

He doesn't get enough credit but he's amazing! Artie doesn't get the most dramatic storyline's and he doesn't go round cheating on everyone so he is automatically ignored, I Personally think he should get MUCH MORE CREDIT and maybe a few more solos in compensation for the fact he has to act and dance in a wheel chair, lets see your precious Lea do that, I'll admit she's good, maybe the best female lead but she gets too much credit compared to the rest of the glee members, Whenever Finn raps (Cory is cute and isn't a bad singer) I want to scream, Seriously Dance, Sing, Rap and He is just SO underrated!

Artie is the most awesome of all of the singers! Whenever Rachel or Finn sings I wanna stab something, Artie can rap and sing, and he is not featured enough. :( More Artie!

He is a really great singer, definitely the best singer he 100 percent doesn't get enough credit. maybe he is too hard to put in songs because of the complications of the wheelchair. I personally think that Darren criss is really great too (as well as amber riley! ) but kevin doesn't get enough credit and he should because he have the most handsome voice. I don't know what the big fuss is about the voices of Rachel and finn, artie's singing tops theirs any day.

ugggghhh Kevin! His voice is so beautiful so soulful! He had a great voice and most definitely had one of the best male voices.

Idina Menzel (Shelby Corcoran) Idina Kim Menzel is an American actress, singer, and songwriter. Menzel rose to prominence when she originated the role of Maureen Johnson in the Broadway musical Rent. Her performance earned her a Tony Award nomination in 1996. She reprised the role in the musical's 2005 film adaptation.

She really does remind me of an older Rachel Berry. I've loved hersince "Wicked" and find her voice fascinatingly refined.

I think that she is the best singer in glee. Haven't you heard her voice?

I love your voice

Should be higher. a legend

Jonathan Groff (Jesse St. James)

I voted him only because I wanted to post this. From the deep of my heart, I truly believe that yes, he IS a great singer, BUT I feel that some people are indeed better than him. Take dianna for instance. Quinn doesn't have those broadway fumes coming off her and her voice, but her voice is truly angelic, its just more appreciated and considered nicer than Jesse's. Darren is also really good. His warbler voice is so great omg. Conclusion: Jesse is good, but not THAT good.

He is by far the best male vocal on the show. It's such a shame the we didn't get to hear him more.

His voice is so flexible! It can be rich and deep and then dopey and goofy. He's so talented and I wish we got to see more of him on Glee because his voice is a gift.

Jonathan Groff is of course the BEST singer on glee with the best talent who should be ranked higher than Cory Montheith who has a low-key voice I'm not sorry to say and I may be harsh but my words are true. How did Quinn beat Jonathan Groff? I AM MAD WITH ANGER WITH FUMES POPPING OUT OF MY RED EARS

The Contenders

Cory Monteith (Finn Hudson) Cory Allan Michael Monteith was a Canadian actor and musician, known for his role as Finn Hudson on the Fox television series Glee. He died in 2013 of a drug overdose.

hi my name is Leah Paige Haycock
I'm 14 year old how are you doing Finn

- RIP you have a relly nice voice and your singing is just absolutely awesome

Cory for me have second voice more beautiful the mens he is fantastic

Finn puts so much emotion into his unique singing voice, that he makes up for the fact that he isn't "technically" the best singer.

Mark Salling (Noah Puckerman)

In my opinion, mark is way better than Cory. Don't get me wrong, I do love Cory as a person, but his voice isn't really that great. Mark's voice is stronger and has a nice tone to it. His solo songs tend to be some of my favorites and his duet with Lea was much better than anything she did with Cory. Personally, I feel that before Blaine came, Puck should have had male lead with Artie getting to share some of the male solos. And would have been so much stronger

His voice is one of the strongest male voices on Glee.

Mark is an amazing singer and in my opinion better that any of the other Glee guys. I feel he has never had enough solos on the show Glee and should have had far more, especially in the group numbers.

Mark has an amazing unique voice! He has great emotion in his music and has a great range. I think Mark is a lot more talented than Cory and should have been the lead, but you know, what are you going to do?

Chord Overstreet (Sam Evans)

Chord is the most versatile singer in the cast. He sang many different genres succesfully.
He has such a sweet and charming voice.
Overstreet has an isteresting vocal range. He has got definitely one of the top male vocal ranges on the show. He can hit a beautiful and powerful falsetto.

Chord's also a great musician. Can play lots of instruments and is a great songwriter.

Chord has an amazing voice that I could listen to all day plus he is HOT!

He's so hot and I just love it when he sings Billionaire!

Sam is my favorite character in glee. He is the sweetest hottest guy. I also think he’s the best singer

Matthew Morrison (Will Schuester)

I know he is a teacher not a student, but as far as singing, he ranks number one in my opinion. His range, skill, and ease of listening to puts him at the top.

Not only is he the best dancer, but the best singer as well. He can sing love songs to raps and everything in between. Truly amazing.

This man has the voice of angels and I would make love to him anytime, anywhere

Matthew Morrison can sing me to sleep

Marley Rose (Melissa Benoist)

She is literally the second best female singer (if not the best) the only reason why she's so low is because she was there for a shorter time (because after that she moved on to an even more successful TV Show - SUPERGIRL! Do listen to her songs - Moon River, Super Friend, Chasing Pavements, etc.

Also, she was the first one in the newbies to have her FIRST song be a duet with Rachel. That shows that she has great potential and 'New York State of Mind' was simply awesome.

If you truly realise how great marley is, you'll definitely vote for her. Look at her classiness (YOU'RE THE ONE THAT I WANT) even Rachel couldn't do that duet with Fiin

- omg go look at her singing ( moon river) on the flash and supergirl crossover

Amazing singer. Sucks that she left in season 4 and wasn't in the finale. I loved her character and her voice!

Melissa's voice has a very pure broadway style to it. She is very versatile and can sing almost every genre. Her voice is warm and powerful at the same time. Capable of an incredibly high mix, she can also hit low, rich notes with ease. Melissa was the only female vocalist that could represent "The New Rachel", even though she doesn't need to be associated with Rachel. She is a star on her own. A very talented, unique star.

Charice (Sunshine Corazon) Jake Zyrus (born Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco, formerly known by the mononym Charice), is a Filipino singer who rose to popularity through YouTube. He is a transgender man.

Ugghh! I wish she was in the show more she bleww! Such a great singer. She was better than Rachel! (in my opinion) I just loved her she was great! One of the best singers on glee!

Sunshine's voice is actually better than Rachel's voice. Rachel even admitted it when she sent her to a crack house in the show. Sunshine should've been at the top of the list in front of everyone else. She just didn't have a bigger role, unfortunately.

If you get to know how talented and amazing Charice is, how blessed her vocal range is, how beautiful her voice is, how amazing technique she has on her voice, you'll just see that Charice is even too good to join the glee show ;)
She's the best singer ever in my opinion, nobody can sound like her in her age...

You have got to be kidding. This girl has pipes that are off charts. She is just amazing to even hit that so high note of All By Myself. Can Lea Michele hit that note? I doubt that. But this girl, she just blew it like so normal to her. This girl should be on top.

Kristin Chenoweth (April Rhodes) Kristin Dawn Chenoweth is an American actress and singer, with credits in musical theatre, film and television. In 1999, she won a Tony Award for her performance as Sally Brown in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown on Broadway.

Her voice rivals Lea Michele's belting power and Naya Rivera's uniqueness. Her voice is just so wonderful.

God, her voice is so emotional and you can tell she feels every single word she's singing. She has a mature voice, she's a true star.

Damn, no words can describe

Alex Newell (Wade Adams)

I mean gurrrll... Why isn't Unique higher on this list? Amazing renditions of Boogie Shoes and Starships as well as pretty much any other song she performed. ICONIC.

I think unique is so talented, he sings with so much grace just like mercedes; he is a mixture of ike and tina turner.

Unique's voice is so rare. For a male singer, Unique has some crazy ass vocal range! I honestly thing that Unique is the best singer on Glee for sure.

Amazing, unique voice, very interesting and fun to listen to.

Grant Gustin (Sebastian Smythe)

Completely underrated, Sebastian was one of the hand's down best singers, and combining that with his dancing and breath control, the only thought that comes to my mind is Bravo.

His new, "Runnin' Home To You," song he sings on The Flash, proves him worthy of a good singer. He should be on top 10. but I really liked the uptown girl mI NIENEN MIEN

Hi Smooth Criminal duet with Naya (Santana) was epic... Like so much sexual tension.

Super good singer, captivating voice

Blake Jenner (Ryder Lynn)

Why people haven't added him is way beyond my understanding, as he was quite the amazing singer, with a wider range of genre than most people had(except Blaine) and his voice was absolutely beautiful.

An absolute angel, wish he there for more seasons because he was such a good singer and wished him and Marley would be official:((

They made a mistake by not including him in season 6. The new New Directions were blah!

He's Better than Jacob Artist

Adam Lambert (Starchild)

Love Adam! Incredible range, incredible tone. Just love his voice. I could listen to Marry the Night over and over again

Amazing. Just listen to "I believe in a thing called love" and "Gloria" and "Marry the night"

Not just that... listen to barracuda& the happening too.. he is the best guy on the glee no doubt!

Can't believe he's only ranked 25 should be in top 10

Demi Lovato (Dani)

I'm not a fan of Demi Lovato, but in Glee I was so surprised and I realized she can sing so well! I just love the tone of her voice and her storyline/relationship with Santana is interesting.

Wow she has such a great voice! She is amazing I am so glad she is a part of glee she should be number 1

Best singer on glee and ever

I am fan of you I want to be on glee that's my dream come true

Jacob Artist (Jake Puckerman)

Awesome smooth soulful male vocalist! When he sings ballads, they always sound legit!

I love your voice sing crazy you drive me crazy

Definitely not as good as his brother!

He's pretty good but not one of the best

Becca Tobin (Kitty Wilde)

She did some great high notes in Signed Sealed Delivered I'm Yours, great F5 though

Really like her F5 belted note in Signed, Sealed, Deliverd, I'm Yours. And another F5 belted in Hey Jude, It Must Have Been Love. As well as her Eb5 belted in Hey Jude.

Kitty is actually a good singer. How she sang in 2, 3 and 4 part harmony was beautiful. When she had that harmony and connection with Jake when they sang Wide Awake, it was perfect. She has a quality Alto and Mezzo-Soprano sound. I love her voice.

She has a fake personality and that can be heard through her voice also... to be honest it's not that good. They were trying to imitate Quinn's vocal style and failed.

Damian McGinty (Rory Flanagan)

He had such great control and could sing low and high, truly underrated

I love Rory's voice, and I thought that his version of Blue Christmas was really touching.

Rory's voice is amazing
