Top 10 Worst Things About Trainz

Trainz is a series of rail-based builder and simulator games. The first Trainz game was released in 2001, and the series has had many releases since then. However, as with all games, Trainz has numerous annoyances that make playing it bothersome.

1. Incompatible assets

   Basically, when you play an older version of Trainz, you can't use assets that are built using newer build numbers, resulting in them being unusable in your game.

2. Lack of automatic content backups

   Trainz doesn't back up non-base/built-in assets, so if you transfer your game to another device, all the content you made and downloaded will be gone. You instead have to manually create a backup folder and copy all your content to it if you don't wanna permanently lose your stuff.

3. Unknown assets

   When you download a DLS item and it has missing dependencies, one or more of them may be unknown assets, meaning they don't exist on the DLS, and you have to either look for them on 3rd-party sites or replace the unknown assets with something else.

4. Bad DLS assets

   Routes that are incomplete or very poorly made, poor-quality models, and bad sound effects. The DLS is full of bad content that no one wants to use in their games.

5. Lost assets

   When a creator deletes their assets from either the DLS or their 3rd-party hosting sites, the assets can become lost to the internet because of it, resulting in people not being able to download and use them in their games.

6. Faulty assets

   Downloading an asset only to find it faulty, either due to missing dependencies, improperly set-up mechanics, or just plain incompatibility with your game.

7. Lack of game models for many unique trains

   There are so many trains that have never been modeled for the game, which is very discouraging when you have a major interest in a certain train model but can never use it in the game cause no one ever made it.

8. Many assets are not available on the Download Station

   There are so many assets that don't exist on the DLS. In order to get them, you have to go to 3rd-party sites, which have varying degrees of safety, just to get the items you want or need.

9. Train derailments when going over unset junctions

   If you have an improperly set junction and a train goes over it, it will always derail on you and become unusable permanently.

10. Error beep

    That annoying beep sound that goes off every time the game doesn't like something you're doing. It's so sudden that I've been jump-scared many times by that loud beep.

    It's the worst when you find a very good-looking model that someone posted a photo or video of online, and then they say the model is private and refuse to share it with anyone.

    Once a train derails, that's it. There's no way to fix it without deleting the train from the session and starting over.

14. Rare assets

    Trainz models that are so rare that you can't find them anywhere online even tho you know they exist cause other people have them.
