Top 10 Best Nirvana Singles
Nirvana was an American rock band formed by singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic in Aberdeen, Washington, in 1987. Nirvana went through a succession of drummers, with the longest-lasting being Dave Grohl, who joined the band in 1990.In the late 1980s, Nirvana established itself as part of the Seattle grunge scene, releasing its first album, Bleach, through the independent record label Sub Pop in 1989. The band eventually developed a sound that relied on dynamic contrasts, often shifting between quiet verses and loud, heavy choruses.
After signing with major label DGC Records, Nirvana found unexpected success with "Smells Like Teen Spirit," the first single from their second album, Nevermind (1991). Nirvana's sudden success popularized alternative rock as a whole. As the band's frontman, Cobain found himself referred to in the media as the "spokesman of a generation," with Nirvana being considered the "flagship band" of Generation X.
Nirvana's third studio album, In Utero (1993), challenged their audience by featuring an abrasive, less-mainstream sound. The band's brief run ended following Kurt Cobain's death in 1994. However, various posthumous releases have been issued since, overseen by Novoselic, Grohl, and Cobain's widow, Courtney Love.
Since their debut, Nirvana has sold over 25 million albums in the United States alone and over 50 million worldwide.
The obvious choice for the number one spot! Kurt's vocals are just amazing. He can scream perfectly! He has the best grunge voice ever, and he proves it in this song.
Best song in the world forever.
One of Nirvana's best songs ever. Kurt's heart-touching vocals and screams show why they became so famous in such a short time.
One could easily say that the reason is songs like Smells Like Teen Spirit and Lithium.
In my opinion, this is the best song they ever wrote.
The drums in the song are absolutely hectic. You can listen to this song for years and not get sick of it.
Kurt's voice in the last 40 seconds... God, it's beautiful.
Such an underrated song.
The Newcomers
One of the most powerful songs ever. This is the kind of music Kurt wanted to play!
By far the best. I mean, this is alt-rock.
