Top Ten Music Artists People Hate Because They Think It's Cool to Do So

Remember when you were listening to the radio and that song came on you hadn't heard before, and you thought to yourself, "This song is pretty catchy. I think I like it... I wonder who it is." Only to find out it was Miley Cyrus or Justin Bieber? Of course, you can't like them or their music. What would your friends say?

This list isn't saying these artists are good or bad, but it IS saying that people are often told what their opinions will be before they actually make them up for themselves. Whether people are swayed by peer pressure or just jumping on the bandwagon, if they're making value statements about a music artist without giving them (and their music) a fair chance, based solely on the opinions of others, then those statements need to be taken with a grain of salt.

It's time to make up your own minds. You may decide the artist truly IS bad, or you might decide to stand up for your opinion even if it's unpopular. One thing's for sure though: nobody thinks a person who can't make up their own mind is cool.

The Top Ten
  1. Justin Bieber

Justin Drew Bieber (born March 1, 1994) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and record producer. He currently resides in Ontario, Canada, and is Christian. He is the son of Pattie Mallette, an author.

Justin Bieber is best known for his songs "Baby" and "What Do You Mean?" As of mid 2025, 11 of... read more

It's ridiculous how annoying and immature all these users insulting him are. They literally think they're cool. This makes them look like idiots. Out of all the people who say they hate Bieber on this website, only 5% of them have a genuine and intelligent reason. The others? Not so much.

    Social media.

Did it happen to Aaron Carter, Jesse McCartney, S Club Juniors? No. Because of social media, he gets the hate because people think it's cool to do so.

He is actually a good singer. The hate he's gotten is truly unnecessary. He isn't awful. He's perfectly fine.

  2. Nickelback

Nickelback is a Canadian post-grunge band formed in 1995 in Hanna, Alberta, Canada. The band consists of guitarist and lead vocalist Chad Kroeger, guitarist, keyboardist, and backing vocalist Ryan Peake, bassist Mike Kroeger, and drummer Daniel Adair.... read more

I gave them a listen because I heard they were awful. I was surprised they were not that awful, and I actually liked several songs, especially Burn It To The Ground - a pretty good hard rock song. Liking several songs didn't make me a fan of theirs, but at least I know they aren't awful.

I really don't get why they deserve as much hate as they got. At least they put more effort into their music than most of today's pop artists who don't even write and produce their own songs.

The most hated band ever. The hate on them can be really obnoxious. I think they are not as bad as people say. I don't understand why they get so much hate.

  3. Rebecca Black

Rebecca Black is a singer and YouTube personality known for her 2011 single "Friday." It became the most disliked video on YouTube until Justin Bieber's "Baby" surpassed it in 2012. She has also released songs like "My Moment" and "Saturday," and continues to create music and content.

Got way too much hate back in the day.

  4. Nicki Minaj

Onika Tanya Maraj, known professionally as Nicki Minaj (born December 8, 1982), is a Trinidadian-American rapper and pop artist. She is widely recognized for hits like "Anaconda," "Super Bass," "Starships," and her feature on "Bang Bang."... read more

It depends. A lot of people hate her, but there are also people who unironically call her the queen of rap. I am not a fan, but I don't really hate her beyond a handful of songs.

She's the best, and y'all probably have only heard Stupid Hoe, Anaconda, and Only. She's very pretty, nice, and she's great.

  5. One Direction

One Direction, commonly abbreviated as 1D, was a British-Irish pop boy band composed of Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik, who departed on March 25, 2015.

The group formed on The X Factor UK in 2010, finished third, and then signed with Simon Cowell's Syco... read more

Some, but not all, people probably hate on One Direction because they're popular. With social media, people can be anonymous, so they take advantage of that by being overly confident to insult others. The same thing would have probably happened to NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys in the 90s if we had social media back then.

They've got some cool songs, though.

  6. Miley Cyrus

Miley Ray Cyrus, born Destiny Hope Cyrus and known professionally as Miley Cyrus, is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. I honestly believe that her 2013 phase wasn't because she was crazy, but because she was intentionally trying to shake her image as quickly as possible.

I don't like Miley, yet I think that Wrecking Ball is a good song.

  7. Taylor Swift

Taylor Alison Swift is an American singer-songwriter born on December 13, 1989, in Reading, Pennsylvania. It's funny that people actually hate Wayne because he's the stereotype of a modern rapper. He actually started in the 90s, and The Carter III is on Rolling Stone's top 500 albums of all time. He might have had a bad album (Rebirth), but with classics like The Carter I and II, I believe he is underrated.

  24. Limp Bizkit

They might be a bit cheesy, but they aren't as bad as people say, in my opinion. They are not like the Creed version of Green Day. Simple Plan only gets hated because some of their songs are cheesy. This band has a few songs I like: Welcome to My Life, Your Love is a Lie, When I'm Gone, Perfect, Save You, Astronaut, Singing in the Rain, Opinion Overload, and Grow Up.

Still, I think they are seriously overhated.

  29. KISS
