Best Songs From Kim Petras's Detour

Detour is the third album by German singer Kim Petras. It was released on May 29, 2026, through Amigo and Kim's independent label, BunHead Records. Detour is Kim's first independent release since 2020, following her departure from Republic Records in April 2026.

The album was supported by six singles: Polo, Freak It, I Like Ur Look, Need for Speed, Jeep, and Brutalist.

Kim released an EP titled Pretour to serve as a teaser project for her album Detour. Pretour was a four-week independent release run starting on February 10, 2026, and ending on March 3, 2026. Pretour wasn't released on the usual streaming platforms but was released on YouTube and SoundCloud.

1. Freak It

   

   I think this is my favorite song of the decade. This song has so many 2009 references. This reminds me of You Make Me Feel (La La La) by Sabi and Cobra Starship, and it's so fun too. It sounds like it could be on the House Nation series! I hope they come back. It's been since 2013 since they stopped.

2. I Like Ur Look

   

   This song is so 2010-2012 coded, and it sounds like Terukado/Aira Mitsuki production. I wish this was getting radio play. This sounds great, and this would bring back fun memories from when I was a little girl.

3. Need for Speed

   The autotune sounds great here and kind of sounds like Charli! This song is also very fun.

4. Jeep

   I love the 2nd chorus, but this is an amazing song and beautiful too. I love the instrumental too. I started liking this more after my prom night.

5. Detour

   My favorite non-album single! It's so fun and catchy! And it sounds so cool too!

6. Korea

   

   Sounds so good and also one of my favorites here, alongside the first 5. It also reminds me a little bit of White Mercedes by Charli XCX. I love the tropical music. I think it's very summer-like, and her vocals sound dreamy.

7. 101

   This brings out Ayesha Erotica vibes. It's very fun how crazy this song is.

8. Basketball

   This was co-produced by the late goddess of electro music SOPHIE. R.I.P. Sadly, this isn't revisitable to me, but I might revisit it a couple of times.

9. Brutalist

   

   This song was so different from the other tracks. The lyrics are kind of sad, tbh, imo.

10. DTLA

    The autotune is great on here. The outro is the best part of this song.
