Best Songs from "Weird Al" Yankovic's Off the Deep End
Off the Deep End is the 7th studio album by "Weird Al" Yankovic, released in 1992. This album was the first self-produced by Yankovic after six albums with Rick Derringer. Recorded between June 1990 and January 1992, it was a follow-up to the unsuccessful soundtrack for Yankovic's 1989 film UHF. Off the Deep End and its lead single, "Smells Like Nirvana," helped revitalize Yankovic's career after a lull in the late 1980s.The album produced one of Yankovic's most famous singles, "Smells Like Nirvana," a parody of Nirvana's major hit "Smells Like Teen Spirit." The song peaked at number thirty-five on the Billboard Hot 100 and became Yankovic's second-highest charting single, after "Eat It," which was released in 1984. The album cover also parodies the cover of Nirvana's album Nevermind. While the original featured a naked baby underwater chasing a dollar bill attached to a fishing hook, Yankovic replaced the baby with himself and swapped the dollar bill for a doughnut.
