Every actor's performance is on point, especially Lee Yo-won, as she is playing two roles (Song Lee-kyung and Shin Ji-hyun). I absolutely love the chemistry between Lee Yo-won and the Scheduler. It is a truly heartbreaking love story, and I would highly recommend this drama. This is my fifth time watching it, and even though I know the whole story, it still brings tears to my eyes.

This is hands down one of the best dramas ever. This should really be in the top 3, no contest. The storyline and the ending were really sad as well.

This is my favorite drama. I can feel every emotion. I have seen it three times now and still feel it all every time.

Sad Love Story

My first K-drama ever. It made me fall in love with Korean dramas and culture. I cried in almost every episode, but of course, I loved it.

The best drama ever made in the world. Even twelve years old, the drama is still gold.

That Winter, the Wind Blows

I still cry when I think of this drama. The story develops really slowly, so it may feel too draggy for some people. But I actually liked that the story didn't rush anything. In fact, I thought it helped me get more emotionally involved with all the characters. This is also one of the few dramas where I actually liked the villain.

Stairway to Heaven

Every time I watch it, my tears never seem to stop. It's so heartbreaking. It gets me every time I watch it. If you haven't seen this, I'm sorry, but you don't know what a tearjerker is.

I agree. It's been years since I watched it, and it still makes me sigh when I think of it. Very impressive.

I can't lie - I couldn't get through all the episodes because it was way too sad. It's like Cinderella with a dark twist.

Secret

Very well done. I felt every heartache of Hwang Jung Eum. I cried every time she cried. This drama ranks really high on my list of recommended shows to watch. If you haven't watched this yet, well, you're missing out.

Amazing drama! If you have watched Kill Me, Heal Me, you will love this! It has the same lead actor and actress. Anyway, watch one and then watch the other. You will love it.

I am glad I got to watch Secret. I believe not a single person on Earth is dumb enough to miss this drama. Certainly the best!

Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo

This is the most depressing drama I've ever watched, and I consider myself a drama addict. They ended it in such a horrible way I didn't even think was possible. The directors really gave the fandom a middle finger by not even trying to produce a sequel to a drama that NEEDS a sequel.

I didn't know what a tear-jerker was before watching Moon Lovers. The heartache barely had time to ease before another river flowed from my eyes. And the OST - oh, it made things even worse. I had to get the soundtrack. The ending broke my heart the most. Watch it, and cry with me.

Empress Ki

I cried so much. Gosh, how sad her life was.

Thank You

How come this doesn't have more votes? This will really melt your soul, especially near the end. I was quite impressed with everything, especially the child actress and her bond with the people close to her.

This is one of my favorite Korean dramas!

I love the storyline, the two lead actors, as well as the supporting cast.

I'm Sorry, I Love You

Yes, I agree it's the saddest. My eyes are so puffy from watching the ending last night. I still feel the ending was rushed, but it's definitely one drama I'll never forget, and it's now one of my favorites. I'll rewatch it again after some time. The acting was impeccable, especially from Mr. So Ji Sub. I've gained a whole lot of respect for him after watching this.

Why is this so low? Is it because it's an old drama? I swear, you can't top this. A masterpiece from So Ji Sub and Im Soo Jung. So sad. Slightly better than Secret Garden.

The Newcomers

? Uncontrollably Fond

I cried non-stop for hours after watching this drama. I still feel pain in my heart and shed some tears when I recall certain scenes. It was my first introduction to South Korean melodramas. Brilliant performances!

I love this drama. It has a very sad plot, and I couldn't stop crying when I watched the last two episodes.

? Fated to Love You

The Korean version. I can't move on from this drama. Jang Hyuk and Jang Na Ra bring chemistry to the show like none I've seen before.

The supporting cast was perfect in their roles. I felt an emotional rollercoaster throughout the whole drama. Mostly, I wept deep tears of sorrow. When I hear the music, I still feel sorrow and cry heartfelt, gut-wrenching tears.

I cried a whole night watching the scenes where Mi Young was hit by a car or truck (I don't remember exactly), and Gun rushed her to the hospital.

In the hospital, Gun still considered her his wife, even though she wasn't anymore.

The Contenders
Secret Garden

Loved this drama. Anything Hyun Bin is in automatically gets an A+. His portrayals, looks, and voice are unbeatable. Hyun adds class to whatever he is acting in.

This is a drama you would not want to miss. Some episodes will make you laugh hard, while others will bring you to tears.

Love the chemistry, the creative story, the good-looking cast, and the most amazing songs. The saddest moments you can ever experience are in this drama, along with the feeling of relief and joy from watching such a touching story.

Rooftop Prince

I've watched it more than three times already, and still, it never fails to make me cry. It's a good, sad K-drama to watch if you want a tearjerker.

It has been a while since I watched this show, but I can clearly recall all the tears.

Good family show. Much better than watching those American reality shows.

Nice Guy (The Innocent Man)

Nice story, and you will feel fully involved with it. All the actors did an amazing job, especially the guy playing the lead character and the lady playing the negative character. The story pace is good too, and it will definitely make you cry. A happy ending that was not happy at all. It is definitely recommendable for those who want to see something dramatic.

This was nearly the first Korean drama I watched, and it totally blew me away. I cried so hard at some of the scenes. I could literally empathize with Moon Chae Won. Her acting was great, and Joong Ki was just perfect. His personality in this drama suited him so well. I love it!

Inspiring Generation
The Heirs

This drama is very emotional to me. The two main characters' relationship goes through so many obstacles when they're so young. It's a sort of forbidden love, and because of that, it's very tear-jerking in each episode. The characters keep struggling through life, which makes it even more impactful.

WOW, it had me from the beginning, and I didn't stop crying for the last four episodes. It is the best one I have seen so far. I loved it.

From start to finish, the series gave me chills. The story is too emotional, especially the triumph of love between the two characters.

I Miss You

I recommend this to all who love romance stories. It's about love since you are sweet 14. I can watch this over and over again. Even the child actors were good. Park Yoon Chun gave a good performance, and the girl is so beautiful.

This drama really played with my emotions. One moment you're smiling, then suddenly you feel like your heart's going to burst out of your chest. Next, you're getting angry, and before you know it, you're already crying rivers. Hehehe. The best ever.

Best, best, best. The story is touching, and the actors were super good. They put their heart and soul into the drama.

The Princess' Man

I like the plot, but the storyline is too sad, considering all the pain they went through to be together in the end. A very good period drama.

The best drama I've ever seen. I would totally recommend it. There are many conflicts, but I love it!

One of the best Korean historical dramas I have ever watched!

Angel Eyes

I bawled my eyes out. Jung Hwa will touch you, and every reflection going forward will bring the tears. I ordered the DVD set from Korea (I'm in the US) and bought a replica of the necklace Dong Joo gave So Wan from eBay. Beautiful.

The plot of the story is good. The lead actor and lead actress have chemistry. They look good together. I love the music. It touches the heart.

My first K-drama. I am currently trying to find another sad K-drama that can live up to its standards.

Winter Sonata

Just watched the whole thing in two days. Once you start watching, you have to continue until it's done. This drama made me cry just thinking about it. The songs are amazing, and I fell in love with the actors and the series straight away.

I lived in Chuncheon for a while, where much of this drama takes place. I met my wife there, and this drama really brought back memories of when we fell in love. I didn't care for the ending, but the trip made up for the fail at the end.

This drama was my starting point in watching Korean dramas. I love the lead actor and actress. They gave justice to their roles. I'm hoping for their reunion in another drama.

Playful Kiss

What can I say? I just love Kim Hyun Joong.

Tree of Heaven
Snow Queen
Autumn in My Heart

This one takes the cake, way back in the year 2000. This K-drama was the top in most Asian countries, particularly in Malaysia. I watched the first 5 episodes, and it got to me so deeply that it made me buy the entire box set of the drama.

I love Song Seung Hun and Song Hye Kyo's chemistry in every scene they were together. At one point, I thought they were a real couple. That goes to show how effective and soulful their work in that drama is.

I really recommend everyone watch this - make it your first Korean drama before exploring others. You certainly won't regret it. It's a tear-jerker drama.

The soundtracks are just superb. I may not understand the lyrics, but the vocalists' presentation of the songs moved mountains for me. Impressive work by them.
