Top Ten Best Book Genres

The Top Ten
1 Fantasy

Fantasy is by far my favorite, especially Harry Potter and Percy Jackson. Honestly surprised this isn't higher on the list. Definitely more popular among younger generations rather than older ones.

Fantasy is by far the best of all genres. From JK Rowling's Harry Potter to Brandon Mull's Five Kingdoms, this genre has boomed into glory. It will always be the greatest of all genres.

Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus, Kane Chronicles, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Magisterium are my reasons for loving this genre.

2 Murder Mystery

Rational deduction, well placed clues, red herrings, closed room murders, a small cast of suspects. Plot twist after plot twist! Tailor-made for intelligent readers.
How I wish for the resurgence of classic mysteries instead of getting thrillers and psychological drivel that demand no interaction nor deduction with brainless action, gore and a murderer that appears two pages before the ending because the author pulled him out of his *ss

John Dickson Carr, Agatha Christie, Ellery Queen, Hake Talbot, Christianna Brand, Rex Stout. Fantastic authors all around...this is the best genre, easily!

Mystery and Murder Mysteries are the best.

3 Horror

Goes so well with stuff focusing on murder as well as mystery but also reality since truth is stranger than fiction.

4 Sci-Fi

There's always a promising plot in a good sci-fi book, and a thought-provoking stance in the best ones.

I LOVE murder mystery,I'm not a huge fan of horror, I LOVE fantasy,I don't really like comedy books, I LOVE Choose your own path, but Science Fiction just HAD to be it. Some of the best books EVER are sci-fi. Hunger Games,Divergent,Enders Game,Man in the High Castle, and so much more are all great sci-if books/series. Case closed

I just like the number 8

5 Comedy

This should be #1. Fantasy is overrated

I always love a good laugh!

6 Dystopian

I loved reading the Hunger Games and I love reading about destroyed society.

This needs to be higher

It is the best genre it Has Hunger Games, Divergent, and The Giver

7 Adventure

I really enjoy reading adventure! it's like the one thing that percy jackson/heroes of olympus books have that harry potter doesn't!

Adventures are fun to go through, sure it isn't choose your own, but it is fun to be like a sort of 3rd person in the matter.

8 Choose Your Path

"Choose your path" is technically a genre. I think it started with the "Choose Your Own Adventure" series, and a few authors must've picked up on that. You can find tons of choose your path books at your local library or bookstores. You may not have seen them if you're an adult because the genre mainly consists of children's books.
I hope this helped

I have never heard of this. Is it even a genre?

My kind of books.

I love this genre because it includes real life dilemmas and detailed character descriptions.
