Top 10 Best Balatro Vouchers

If you don't know how vouchers work in Balatro, allow me to explain. They cost 10 dollars to redeem in the shop, and you can get all sorts of cool effects like more hands, discards, and so on.

Later in the game, you can get the Tier 2 versions of those vouchers for even better effects. Some of them may have different effects than the originals.

This list rounds up the best vouchers in Balatro alongside their Tier 2 equivalents.

The Top Ten
  1. Blank and Antimatter

You're probably wondering why a voucher that does nothing is ranked so high on this list. While it's true that Blank does nothing, players who dismiss this voucher as a joke are missing the point.

If you redeem 10 of these vouchers across all runs you've played, you unlock the Antimatter voucher, which gives you one extra joker slot. Useful for when you have a complete build you don't want to trade just to get that Blueprint you always wanted.

  2. Telescope and Observatory

Redeeming Telescope ensures celestial packs contain the planet cards needed to level up your most played poker hand. Very useful for builds that revolve around one specific hand, like flush or straight.

But wait, it gets better. When you use 25 planet cards found in celestial packs, you will unlock the Observatory voucher, which gives you X1.5 from every planet card in your consumable slot that levels up the played poker hand. With Perkeo, you can create negative copies of planet cards that synergize with Observatory, and if you play it right, get a nanienf score.

  3. Director's Cut and Retcon

Do you have a perfect build you feel worried won't stand a chance against an annoying boss blind? Worry not. With the Director's Cut voucher, you can pay 10 dollars to reroll the current boss blind once per ante.

If you discover 25 of these annoying boss blinds, you unlock the Retcon voucher, which allows you to reroll the boss blind as many times as you want. Now your face card build is safe from The Plant's way.

  4. Crystal Ball and Omen Globe

Redeeming the Crystal Ball voucher awards you an extra consumable slot. Sounds simple, I know.

But what if I told you about the Omen Globe voucher that puts spectral cards inside arcana packs? After using 25 tarot cards across all your runs, you can get spectral cards much easier and use them to amplify your run. Though I will say it's a little disappointing to see a spectral card you thought was The Soul, but it turns out to be something pitiful like Ouija.

  5. Wasteful and Recyclomancy

Both tier vouchers give you one extra discard. Useful if you want to find cards needed for your best poker hands or strategies. Unlocking Recyclomancy requires you to discard a total of 2500 cards, so it may take time to unlock this voucher.

  6. Grabber and Nacho Tong

Same effect as Wasteful and Recyclomancy, only these give you one extra hand. Playing 2500 cards will unlock the tier two voucher, so this will also require more grinding for such a simple voucher.

  7. Paint Brush and Palette

The last of the status upgrade vouchers, these give you an extra hand size. The tier two voucher has an easier unlock requirement, which is reducing your hand size all the way to five cards. You can do this with spectral cards like Ectoplasm or Ouija, or it may happen by default with The Manacle.

  8. Clearance Sale and Liquidation

So many cool jokers and consumables, but you may never have enough money. Fortunately, Clearance Sale puts that problem behind you by cutting the price of all items by 25%. Vouchers like this one usually cost $10 to redeem, but from here on out, they're now $7.

Once you redeem 10 vouchers in one run, say hello to Liquidation, which slashes the price of all items by 50%. With your $5 vouchers and cheap jokers and consumables, money can actually buy you happiness now.

  9. Overstock and Overstock Plus

Overstock and Overstock Plus add one extra card slot to the shop. You'll see the tier two voucher's potential by spending a total of $2500 in the shop across all of your runs. The great thing about these vouchers is that they give you more item options without having to waste money on rerolls.

  10. Hieroglyph and Petroglyph

The only risk-and-reward vouchers in the game. Hieroglyph allows you to go back an ante at the expense of one hand.

About the Petroglyph voucher you unlock after reaching ante 12, you might think it's just the same as the tier one voucher. Well, the answer is yes and no. Like its tier one counterpart, Petroglyph allows you to go back an ante. But it also takes away one discard instead of your hand.

These vouchers are useful if you want to upgrade your builds without letting the higher score requirements creep up on you.
