Top 10 Worst Video Game Enemies

Some enemies are hard because they are smart, fast, or built like a tank. Then there are the ones that just make you groan and tighten your grip on the controller. You know the type: the little pest that knocks you into a pit, the damage sponge that turns every fight into unpaid overtime, or the cheap menace that shows up at the exact worst moment.

They do not challenge you so much as annoy you into submission. You are not admiring clever design when one waddles onto the screen and wrecks your rhythm for the tenth time in five minutes. You are staring at your TV like it personally insulted your family, wondering who approved this digital nuisance in the first place.

The Top Ten
  1. Goomba (Mario Series)

Goombas, known in Japan as Kuribō, are a species of sentient, mushroom-like creatures in Nintendo's Mario franchise. They first appeared in the game Super Mario Bros., released in 1985. Goombas are among the most common enemies in the series and are usually defeated by being jumped on.

You should've seen them in the movie. They looked nothing like they did in the game at all. They were reptiles who were much taller and wore trench coats.

Is it really hard to explain? They just plain suck, and I mean suck. They walk off ledges and have useless fangs.

Anything Nintendo-related is bad. Either you like it or not, it's a fact.

  2. Koopa (Mario Series)

These things are cowards. Not only do they not charge you with determination like Goombas, they let you use them against their allies and perform cheap 1-Up tricks. In Mario 64, they don't even do damage, and you can ride on their shell.

Sure, Goombas kill themselves, but Koopas are in a league of their own. They hide in their shells like cowards and let themselves be used as weapons for killing other enemies.

They kill others because they hide in their shells, cause they didn't want to get killed like all of the other ones.

  3. Monstar (Braid)

If you don't know what Braid is, "LOOK IT UP," and you will know why these enemies suck.

    What is that thing?

  4. Kremlings (Donkey Kong Series)

These guys are really easy to defeat. All you have to do is jump on their heads or roll into them. Most of the time, they won't even move.

  5. Crows (Earthworm Jim)

  6. Negative Man (EarthBound)

  7. Balloon Boy (Five Nights at Freddy's 2)

Balloon Boy is a human-like animatronic character introduced in the video game Five Nights at Freddy's 2, which was released in 2014. In the game, Balloon Boy does not physically harm the player, but he disables the flashlight after entering the office, making it easier for hostile animatronics to attack... read more

  8. Broom Hatter (Kirby Series)

He cleans, he cleans, until he gets sucked into a pink ball's mouth.

  9. Moblins (The Legend of Zelda)

  10. Headcrab Zombies (Half-Life)

It's hard to look at and listen to them, and it's terrifying and horrific! But they're the easiest thing to kill in Half-Life.

When you shoot their bodies, the headcrab detaches!

  11. The Newcomers
  12. ?

    Zubat (Pokemon)

Zubat, known in Japan by the same name, is a dual-type Poison/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation I. Zubat evolves into Golbat, which can further evolve into Crobat when leveled up with high friendship. It is commonly found in caves and is known for using echolocation in place of eyesight.

I dunno if worst means they suck or that they're annoying, but I agree with both.

  17. Threshers (Borderlands 2)

  18. Ghostkin (Radiation's Halloween Hack)

While the Desire Dog is just plain disturbing and the Anxiety Attacks are intimidating, this ghost-pumpkin thing is just lame.

  19. Spear Guys (Wario Land 4)

  20. Chompies (Skylanders)

They make the Grunts from Halo look threatening. How?

    One hit from anything.

  21. ReDeads (The Legend of Zelda)

They're freaky as hell! In the first place, they're undead skeletons with rotting flesh falling off their bones, unleashing a horrible scream that paralyzes you in fear! They were scary in my childhood!

  22. Glass Joe (Punch-Out!!)

Glass Joe is a fictional French boxer from Nintendo's Punch-Out!! video game series. He is known as the first and easiest opponent in the games, serving as a humorous introduction for new players. Despite his poor win record, Glass Joe remains one of the series' most recognizable characters.

    Punch-Out!!'s human punching bag.

  23. Magikarp (Pokemon)

Magikarp, known in Japan as Koiking, resembles an orange fish with whiskers and is recognized for its weak battle performance. It first appeared in the video games Pokémon Red and Green in Japan, which were released internationally as Pokémon Red and Blue. Magikarp is a Water-type Pokémon that evolves... read more

Oh my God. I will never forget the immediate rush of dread and fury I first got when I saw this guy barreling down the hall at me, just waiting to put my head between his metal jaws.
