Top 10 Greatest Disco Songs
A true disco classic hit that will never be forgotten. It's stayin' alive to this day. Fun fact: people play this at hospitals while giving patients with heart issues CPR.
The song that made disco famous...
Regardless whether or not it was in the 70s it's the best disco song.
The first disco song I heard and I loved it from the start.
The Bee Gees could easily have a few in the top ten.
Gloria Gaynor with this hit is real Disco Diva. And I always think of this style as some different Type of disco.
I will survive will survive for another century. That sing is awesome. Gotta love it.
The best disco song for me. Has been my number 1 for the past 24 years.
And the best disco song hands down, guys!
This song now going on 35 years old, is STILL years ahead of itself! This classic defines excellent club/disco/dance music! The fact that it is performed by The Queen Of Disco, makes "I Feel Love", the obvious winner of this category!
I remember dancing to this at the clubs and the floor would be jam packed. A happier time for many - for sure.
The queen of disco with a monster of a track. A Moroder innovative timeless classic that refuses to age. Number 1 for me!
Should be among the top 10. Excellent example of pure European disco sound.
Great song. But ABBA were never a disco band as some annoyingly describe them. They experimented with their sound to mirror the trends of the time but always did it with their distinctive Nordic twist. Upbeat melodies with underlying melancholy.
It's probably their most memorable song! Yes, they were a pop group and this song isn't really disco but still, it's amazing to dance and listen anyway!
Dancing Queen is obviously an amazing song, but at this time Abba weren't producing disco music. Their song that is more close to disco is probably Super Trouper
Disco doesn't mean bad... I'm going to turn my house into a public disco and repeat every song by ABBA until I reach my deathbed!
"Burn baby burn" Ohh... This is so great to dance to, even if you have more left feet than a Lost Property cupboard.
The 12 inch version remind me of the full Discotheque and people dancing. And that is awesome!
The song that (I think) started the whole thing... Ingenious! And long, not to mention.
I was a mobile then, couldn't go wrong with this.
Just makes you want to shuffle your feet. And original video is over the top!
It's such a feel good and upbeat song, it's hard not to at least tap your feet to it.
How's this not in the top ten? This is one of the best and happiest disco songs you'll ever listen to
How is this song so low? It is the defining disco song.
This came out in 2013 & disco died before the 1980s. In fact disco was killed off since an event called Disco Demolition Night (held in Chicago on July 12th 1979). This's modern EDM paying tribute to sounds from 70's music & co-written & co-played by Nile Rogers. Daft Punk was known for a type of EDM known as French house. This was nu-disco (a 21st century genre with a renewed interest in disco, post-disco, Euro house & French house) along with French house & it was Nile Rogers' biggest non-disco hit. R.I.P. Daft Punk (1993-2021).
A disco song does not have to come out of the 70s or 80s, nor does any genre have to come out of any era to be considered part of that genre. This song combines funk, soul, and pop and has a light guitar part with more of an Emphasis in bass and drums. The song is also extremely danceable.
I see no reason why this is not a disco song.
It's true disco. It's a hymn. It has the spirit and the beat of disco. And the song is co-written ans co-played by Chic-Mastermind Nile Rodgers, the man behind Lost in Music, Le Freak, He's the greatest dancer, I'm coming out, I want your love, Rappers Delight, We are Family, Upside down, Good times. More disco isn't possible.
This is 2013 disco. Like it or not. Yes we do know what disco is. Every era has its version.
This was a post-disco Hi NRG song (yet their greatest hit). The sounds were cleverly mimicking raindrops falling. Though disco's a thing in the past since this came out in 1982 & disco was killed after mid 1979. R.I.P. Izora Armstead, a true artist.
As long as gay men like to dance, this song will live on.
Heart of Glass is the best song I've ever heard. Debbie Harry's voice is that of a siren in this song. This song, and Blondie have had a profound effect on my life. Blondie fans know the true feeling of obsession!
Very catchy, makes you want to listen to it forever!
Gotta love the horns and the beat.
Should be in the top 5
Funkytown is the best disco song of all-time!
The music, the harmony, and the strong "funk" rhythm, all came together to create an unforgettable sound!
It's got an awesome beat! I don't get why more people vote for it! I will survive is ok... but its not as good as Le Freak!
Number 3 best selling disco record of all time!
The very best Disco song ever!
Are you kidding me? Guys, educate yourself - this song has many disco elements! And what? Disco didn't exist in the 80s? Some people have NO IDEA what they write.
Came out in 1982 & it was actually dance pop. Disco died before that.
My 2nd favourite disco song after "don't stop til you get enough"!
How is this not number one on this list?
An upbeat blues style disco classic. She nailed it.
One of the greats
Never forget this underrated disco classic. R.I.P. Donna Summer.
A truly memorable classic that'll got everyone hooked. Yet it lived up to its name. Synth sounds mimicking popcorn popping.
It was a big hit by Roxy Music, but not disco, but art rock & glam rock.
The beginning of the track is real, real awesome.
Best of the best in Disco music!
Who would ever forget this disco masterpiece? It's their biggest hit.
This was a great & danceable song, but however it wasn't disco, because disco was killed off in 1979 (due to Disco Demolition Night) & this is a 1982 song, meaning it's post-disco. Yet it's also funk rock. R.I.P. Freddie Mercury.
I agree with the others! There are songs that are not even disco songs placing higher. What gives? To Many youngsters who have no real connection to disco. Disco was from about 73 - 82 and that's pushing it. Anything certainly from the late 80's to today are not disco songs. This should be way higher.
Why is this song not number one? Don't get me wrong, I will survive is a good song, but this song was the village boys' biggest hit I think! And it even has a nice dance to go with it.
Village People were one of the biggest disco groups of the era.
This should be higher and where is San Francisco/Hollywood and In the Navy?
Greatest disco song of all time.Y.M.C.A. dance still being done more than 35 years later. What other disco song can claim that?
Real disco sound. Should be among the top 10.
The beat is too good! Love them!
Real disco evergreen
