Top 10 Worst Things About the Internet in 2026

Age verifications taking over every website
I will make a rant on age verification soon, but I have many complaints about this, and I will say this is likely a preview:
Basically, Character AI, Roblox, YouTube, Minecraft (which is a kids' game), and Discord all want you to use your ID and face. If you use an ID, you might get kidnapped or doxxed. The same goes for photos of your face, because my sister taught me this. Because someone can use your face and you can get in trouble, I believe, all of these websites are likely going to get shut down, and there are going to be a bunch of data breaches. I can see it.
This is a violation of privacy. I really hope no other websites do this. It's bad and a violation of privacy. I hope more US states ban it.

AI content
I'm tired of seeing AI slop all over the Internet. It's creepy, soulless, and bad for the environment.
I hate these cringy AI animations.

5-year-old kids
They just think they are oh so cool.

Politics
Just try to find a subreddit that isn't hijacked by this. Just try to find a regular social media site that isn't hijacked by this. Those pushing politics do it because they want to hear themselves talk but don't want to hear other people talk.

It is not the same as it used to be
Some think a regulated internet is a good thing. The only things that should be properly regulated are adult content that requires the right identification and whatnot. Now, it's all over the place.
It started to get worse in 2017, I believe, with verifying that you are a human and the "I Am Not A Robot" verification. It's not as bad as age verification, but it is just annoying and kind of stressing.
Nothing has been the same since 2020. It feels like we've been in a parallel universe ever since then.

Sites fighting adblockers
It's just a straight-up war between YouTube and adblock companies, but it's a completely unnecessary one.
Unlike smaller sites, YouTube is a billion-dollar company that should just let bygones be bygones, but they want to shove advertisements (bad or misleading ones, dare I add) down people's throats. They then try to circumvent the adblockers by blocking videos from playing and warning about adblock usage. Oh, and you may not know this one, but they also increase the memory limit too. It's ridiculous.
