Top Ten Fears We Must Overcome

As most of these fears are hard to overcome, some can be beneficial and improvement in life quality. Sadly, many people do fear the unpleasant and frightful things in life, some which restricts some life qualities such as unable to embrace failure. While the short answer is easy to say but hard to do, the solution to most of these fears is to embrace it and accept what's happening. Here are the following fears we should overcome (or at least try to overcome)
The Top Ten
Asking Questions

We are naturally curious beings, but unfortunately, many people hesitate to ask certain questions, even though they may seem stupid to others. If you have a question in mind, feel free to say it aloud. Sure, you may lack courage, and it may seem stupid, embarrassing, or make you prone to judgment.

However, the answer might be worth more than you expect and could even benefit others who have the same question.

Socializing

Social anxiety is a major fear for many when it comes to socializing, and it's among the hardest fears to overcome. You might be afraid of saying the wrong words, stuttering, or making mistakes overall. When you feel encouraged to talk, start with a simple greeting. If you're feeling more confident, engage in casual conversation or chit-chat. Relaxation, confidence, and practice are key.

Overcoming the fear of socializing can be challenging, but over time, you should build up communication skills and confidence. Don't overdo it, but steadily practice when you feel confident enough. Communication skills are considered one of the most important things to have in life, and they can be beneficial for getting a good career. Who knows - you could meet someone who might change your life?

Change

We live in a world that's constantly shifting and unpredictably changing. Those who fear change should know that, regardless of how much effort you put into avoiding it, change is unavoidable. While change can result in the loss of certain things, fearing it is worse than embracing it. Fortunately, while some changes may have a negative impact, others can be beneficial and have a positive influence.

People have an intense fear of change. Yet, change is one of the absolutes in life. Change, taxes, and death!

Rejection

This fear often applies to relationships, as people tend to be afraid of being rejected, which could potentially lead to arguments and insults. The reality is that you're just overthinking and expecting too many negative scenarios when simply asking someone out. It takes courage to ask someone out, but in reality, it's not as bad as thinking about it.

Eventually, if you're lucky, you'll find the right person for a relationship. If the person rejects you, it indicates they are simply not interested in you. They might ignore you or even spew insults in some cases. At least it's not your fault - you tried. If the person rejects you rudely, simply move on with life. No one wants a relationship with someone who has a rude demeanor.

Judgement

This is a fear many people have. At some point, all of us get judged in life. In most cases, that person is just sharing an opinion about you. Regardless of what you're doing or where you are, people will always judge you.

There's a simple solution that not many people follow: the opinions of others don't really influence your life in any significant way. Many people fear and are overly concerned about others' perspectives, but judgment is almost unavoidable. Therefore, you shouldn't care what people negatively think of you.

Asking for Help

Similar to asking questions, people tend to fear requesting help because they believe it may lead to humiliation, affect their pride, or make them feel weak, inferior, vulnerable to judgment, or labeled as incapable. Some fear simply not receiving the help needed or even making the situation worse, leading to failure.

However, everyone may need a helping hand at some point in life. Depending on the environment where you currently are, asking for help may take courage, but it could potentially lead to bigger accomplishments.

Criticism

Criticism is often seen as negative, leading some people to fear it because they feel personally attacked. Avoiding criticism can result in negative consequences, especially when the criticism is constructive, even if it can be harsh. If you receive constructive criticism, you should use it as a tool to improve yourself, as long as you don't take it personally.

Criticism isn't always bad. Sometimes the person who criticizes you is giving you valuable feedback, showing you how to do better next time.

Failure

The sad fact is that many people are frightened of failing, expecting the worst and fearing the loss of things. When failure happens, they tend to give up, wasting opportunities that could be beneficial in life and not taking second chances.

How can you succeed in a goal without experiencing or expecting failure at first? Failure is a normal part of life. The experience of failure might sting, but the good news is that it can open up opportunities, provide lessons, and offer answers. So why should you fear it?

Being Yourself

Always be yourself. Don't feel ashamed - you are special in your own way. Show others your talents and personality. They might appreciate them! Show others that you are strong and courageous.

Vaccines

Most children possess this fear, but it also applies to some teenagers, young adults, and people of all ages. While overcoming this fear may not be as crucial compared to others, it's still worth addressing. If you've experienced a mosquito or fire ant bite, you shouldn't really fear getting vaccinated. You may fear the sharpness or thinness of the needle, but being injected only inflicts pain equivalent to those mentioned bites.

Vaccines are important for immunity against diseases. Consider this: what if there are no other options besides vaccination? Would you rather risk getting a severe or even lethal disease, or endure a vaccination equivalent to the pain of an insect bite?

Rape
Homosexuality

As long as it's consensual, it hurts no one!

School

School is a place for you to learn. Don't be afraid of it. The teacher doesn't want you to suffer, nor does the school district or the government - they want you to learn and gain knowledge so that you can be great when you grow up. Think about those who came before you. Make them proud!

School can be a scary place for kids. They have to deal with bullies, saying no to drugs, peer pressure, and more. It's hard.

It will be over when you're 16, or you could take sixth form.

Death

It's scary - that's why you should enjoy every moment of your life. But don't worry. God will always look after us. (No offense to those who are not Christian.)

Low Self Esteem
Suicidal Thoughts
Social Isolation
Being Overweight

This is a top fear for many who won't openly admit it.

Low Self Confidence
Insecurity
Flying

While it's understandable why people fear flying, many tend to fear being an airplane passenger because they are mostly concerned about the possibility of fatal accidents. However, it's a well-known fact that airplanes are one of the safest forms of transportation compared to any other. The chances of dying in an airplane accident are extremely slim. Most of you have probably spent much more time riding in a car than on an airplane in your lifetime.

Flying is fun! I love to go on flights. It would be even better if I could grow wings and fly myself. It's fun - you should try it! (Don't be mistaken, I don't rhyme a lot.)
