Top 10 Concepts Most of Us Can't Understand

To understand is to essentially grasp the meaning of something. Most of us are blind to actually consider we understand the things we think we understand.

"To understand, you must collect by your own thoughts, then use it wisely for the better."
- Hendrix Reynolds

There are many things we don't understand, and we just have to do the best we can with the knowledge we have.

The Top Ten
  1. Love

Love is hard to understand because its opposite - hate - is part of the concept that helps us grasp the meaning of love. Somebody who has never been loved or has never loved will never know what love is. But someone who has loved or been loved will understand the real value of love when the day comes that they feel its opposite.

Only when you feel hate will you fully understand what love was - what its benefit was - when it's missing or lost. Love can be truly understood when you comprehend what hate is and what hate does.

This word is always a bit weird for me to think about, for I don't have much to connect with it. I'm an asexual aromantic, and I don't have the best relationship with my family.

  2. Life

Hey, as Calvin's Dad said, "You were a Blue Light Special at K-Mart, almost as good, and a lot cheaper." But no, life is an ever-circulatory cycle that expands our view and image of humanity. But that's just a blurb of the many blurbs.

Imagine the world before with all the gods and all that peace, and look at it now. Exactly.

  3. Death

This is a subject that is impossible to understand unless you go through it yourself or witness someone go through it. Understanding death is like growing up, as you grasp onto the world and what our lives on this world mean.

Death isn't bad. It releases people from their pain. Dead people are still with us, watching from the stars and guarding us. They can't fight our battles, but they cheer for our victories and mourn with us.

Epicurus: "Death is not important. As long as we are here, there is no death. And when death is there, we are not here anymore."

  4. Art

Art is a form of expression and communication. Just like people who talk or write about their ideas, there will be lovers and haters. It's the same with art. You can love or hate someone's form of art. What makes sense to some can equally make no sense to others.

There will be another JB, Nicki Minaj, and Deadmau5. There is no doubt. But there will never be another Mozart, Da Vinci, or Chopin because they can virtually never be replicated in our lifetime due to their impact on our culture. That's true art.

  5. Trust

Trust is a state of mind, brought by the appearance of a person. Dogs don't trust us after we kick them because of the scent of the monster that hurt them before. I wish we could smell the people that hurt us before.

My relatives need to learn how to trust me.

  6. Beauty

Beauty is a subjective and relative concept. What may be beautiful to some can be ugly to others and vice versa. Many make the mistake of thinking that beauty is inherently good or useful in this world. For instance, people often say that art, or a good action, is beautiful, implying it has some intrinsic value.

Beauty is just a subjective idea and has no real context in objective nature. That's why it's so difficult to answer the question: "What is beauty?"

I adore this list, and truly, beauty and what I deem beautiful is what I'll replicate on a page.

It may be pain, sorrow, or anger I draw, but everything I draw will be what I see as beautiful. There are so many factors in beauty and it's so abstract, I couldn't even begin to describe or understand it.

  7. Friendship

A lot of people take friendship for granted. It's really sad. As a person who's relied on my friends quite a lot, I could never imagine life without them. I have an emotional support friend, a relatable friend, the kindest person in the world friend, the friend who always makes me laugh, etc.

As a quiet observer, I've noticed many so-called friendships. I've seen the just here for your homework friend and many more. This is what I want to say: You're not a true friend if you're relying on a friend for something materialistic. You're not their friend. If you often avoid them in any other situation unless you need help with something materialistic, you're not a real friend.

  8. God

Many people who believe in God pray to get something and treat God as a wishing well. They don't understand that our purpose is to love God and try to please him/her through our actions, thoughts, and words.

This sounds crazy... But do you think you have ever seen demons and heard a voice that you think is the voice of God?

  9. Our Limits

We push ourselves to limits previously unexplored in brief moments of our lives, but we also risk the consequences of building up to that moment. We must learn from past experiences to truly understand.

  10. Pain

Pain is a feeling that intensifies the pressure or emotion of the situation that caused it. It is a warning for us to stop and recognize our limits. We must understand pain in order to prevent it from happening to us.

Take risks, but too many can lead to disaster.

  15. Dreams

I've seen giant monsters in my dreams, some of which I believe are responsible for moving the tectonic plates. These creatures, which move the plates, are the size of supercontinents on average. The clouds end at the center of their abdomens - they are taller than the adult Cloverfield monster.

In my dreams, I encounter many mythical, legendary beings and creatures of all sizes and shapes. One creature I ran into was a saint tortoise. These tortoises bring good luck and have a symbiotic relationship with lucky cats.

Another creature I encountered was the Trinity Knights. Trinity Knights are like biblically accurate angels, but they can shapeshift and transform into anything. They are dangerously quick and fast.

  16. Mistakes

If history doesn't learn from its mistakes, it is bound to repeat them. Take WWII, for example. Germany was essentially blamed in both WWI and WWII, though for different reasons. Germany was burdened with all the blame in WWI (or so I heard), and in WWII, it was at the center of blame again, this time for the death of 6 million Jews.

History is a bomb ready to explode, and mistakes are made consecutively over time.

Yeah, I can't understand my own mistakes often.

  17. Common Sense

"Common sense is the collection of prejudices acquired by age eighteen." - Albert Einstein.

I truly think common sense is rubbish too because it reflects what society deems appropriate behavior. Sometimes, yes, social norms are necessary. But knowing when to break them and think outside the box is crucial for personal development.

  18. Anger

  19. Communism

Communism is a far-left political, social, philosophical, and economic ideology that seeks to establish a classless society through the common ownership of the means of production. It originated in the 19th century with the works of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. The ideology envisions a stateless and... read more

A serious problem that destroys societies and countries if not executed properly. It's part of the reason my family is so messed up emotionally, and it's pretty messed up.

It takes away any initiative and hence reason for life.

No one understands what it means.

  20. Nothing

  21. Gender

Yes, but it's more complex than just DNA and chromosomes. What about hermaphrodites, people with two hearts, or two heads on one body, etc.? Is that a mixed-up fault of DNA?

Science knows what gender is. This is not a mystery anymore. Simply put: DNA, chromosomes.

  22. Infinite Space

I believe our minds are too limited to fully understand infinity. We know what it means, but to imagine something that has no end is, in fact, unimaginable.

There are theories that space is not infinite and that it has an end, but then again, what lies beyond that end?

  23. Loss

  24. Consciousness

  25. Magnetism

Forces are an interesting concept in general, but magnets have to be the hardest to explain. Even if you know how they work, it's impossible to prove why they work. Unless somebody here is smart enough to prove me wrong.

How do they work? And I don't want to talk to a scientist because those people lie and make me angry.

  26. Quantum Physics

Download the Quantum Mobile app, then you'll understand!

  27. Religion

  28. Politics

  29. Sexuality

People need to understand that being gay is not a choice, that it is not wrong, that people who are gay are not all Satanists or atheists, and that Trump is definitely homophobic.
