Best Deftones Albums

The Top Ten
1 White Pony

An absolute masterpiece. My favorite album of all time. This is true art in music form. Deftones were at their best as a band in the White Pony era.

Back to School - A very different Deftones song. It's got a lot more rap than normal, and it's one of the heavier songs on the album.

Feiticeira - Abrasive and has a cool drum part. Not much to say. It's a pretty run-of-the-mill Deftones song.

Digital Bath - I didn't like this song at first, but I love it now that I've listened to the whole thing. It's very relaxing yet jammable as hell. Very original and ponderous. Chilling vocals and atmospheric melodies make this one of their best songs.

Elite - One of the heavier songs on the album, Elite is a rage-y song reminiscent of their early years. The guitar tone in this song is really cool, and the screaming vocals are done well.

Rx Queen - A somewhat emotional tune, this is a very original song. The chorus is catchy, and the lyrics are nothing less than what is to be expected from Chino.

Street Carp - An average Deftones song. Still good, but my least favorite song on the album.

Teenager - This is where the album begins to go from great to fan-favorite in the best way. Another great tune. Great vocals and lyrics. This is perhaps Deftones' most relaxed and calming song.

Knife Prty - Catchy and thought-provoking, this song is one of the greats. The chilling female vocals are one of the highlights.

Korea - By far the heaviest song on the album and one of my personal favorites. The screaming is some of Chino's best ever, and the bridge is one of the most crushing and extreme I've ever heard in a song.

Passenger - This song is absolutely fantastic. Not only is it a Deftones classic, but it's also one of my favorite songs ever. I could listen to it all day. Maynard and Chino's vocals go together perfectly, and the guitar part is one of my favorites ever.

Change - Personally, I think this song is very... more

2 Around the Fur

This was definitely their heaviest album, and greatest. My Own Summer, Lhabia, Mascara, Around the Fur, Rickets, and Be Quiet and Drive are some of the best songs on the album. But overall, all the songs are great!

It's hard to choose between ATF and White Pony. White Pony has fantastic songs, but ATF is much heavier than WP and has some of the best songs: Be Quiet, Rickets, Lotion, and My Own Summer. So, I'd pick this one.

My favorite album by them is a hard choice between this and White Pony, but I'd say this is their best.

3 Koi No Yokan

By far the most underrated album. Swerve City, Leathers, Entombed, Tempest, Rosemary, and Goon Squad are some of the best Deftones songs out there. Leathers is one of the hardest-hitting songs Deftones has made in years and blows away anything on Gore. This album is outstanding.

Even though I think this is their best album, I understand if someone thinks it's White Pony. However, how Around the Fur is above this one is beyond me.

Great album. By far the best produced Deftones LP. Gauze, Leathers, Entombed, Poltergeist, Romantic Dreams.

4 Diamond Eyes

Diamond Eyes, Sextape, You've Seen the Butcher, Beauty School, Rocket Skates, Prince, Royal. This album has tons of great songs. Even though White Pony is the best, Diamond Eyes is my favorite album. It just gets you, and I think it's the best album produced in 2010.

Really good album. I wouldn't call it the best, but it's certainly up there. I'm happy that Deftones actively dispels the myth that a band's old material is automatically better than the new material.

Amazing album. I find myself listening to it more than any other. KNY is also great. Their only flaws are the weak opening tracks.

5 Deftones

While I don't think it's the best album Deftones made, I truly think it deserves higher.

The first album I got of theirs, and it's really good. I love the artwork and the way it fits the music.

6 Saturday Night Wrist

Best Deftones album, period. It's like entering a hole, but not in the earth - in outer space. Songs like Beware tell us to fear the water that's coming with its cherry waves washing us ashore. Xerces is a killer song taking us to heaven and back while we go through the rest of the album, which can be but a phone call away from a euphoric trip. The trip of your lifetime in space through the cosmos. That's how I can very briefly describe this perfect album.

Saturday Night Wrist is definitely better than the albums ranked 3-6. There is maybe only one bad song on this album, while almost every other consists of two or more not-so-great songs.

7 Adrenaline

Bored, 7 Words, Engine No. 9, Fireal. There are some pretty amazing Deftones tracks here.

8 Gore

The first time I heard this album, the first five tracks brought me back to all of the dreams I've had when I sleep. The songs have a unique and digitally impressive sound that is innovative and deeply atmospheric. Prayers/Triangles and Acid Hologram have such beauty converged into their sound. Overall, this album deserves to be a new genre of its own. Deftones have done impressively well ever since Adrenaline, and I reckon Gore defines their update or change or adaptation to the modern/soon-to-be era of alt/nu/metal. Gore deserves a much higher rank.

9 Ohms

This is their best album that they have ever made! They take everything from their earlier albums and recent ones and mash them together to create this masterpiece. All the songs are so amazing, and there isn't a single one that I don't like.
