Top 10 Music Artists with the Most Annoying Stereotypes

Ah stereotypes are so annoying, regardless of what they're related to. I'll be focusing on some stereotypes made on a couple of artists, if I missed one feel free to add one. But basically a stereotype is a false generalization about something or someone that is ultimately not true.
The Top Ten
1 Linkin Park - All of their songs sound the same, all of their songs are edgy, and etc. Linkin Park is an American rock band formed in Agoura Hills, California, in 1996. The members currently include Mike Shinoda (vocals, keyboards, rhythm guitar), Brad Delson (guitar), Dave "Phoenix" Farrell (bass), Joe Hahn (DJ) and Rob Bourdon (drums). Linkin Park are associated with a mixture of Alternative Rock, Hip Hop and Techno. Some of their influences include Nine Inch Nails, Deftones, The Roots and Aphex Twin. ...read more.

Lol whoever said that definitely only listen to their first 2 albums. As a big fan of Linkin Park, I know they always change their styles in every albums except the first 2. For example, listen to Hands Held High, Iridescent, Roads Untraveled, Final Masquerade and Battle Symphony. (those are from their 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th album respectively) Then compare it to their first 2 albums. If you still think they sound the same, you're deaf.

Not all of their songs sound the same, a few might but not all of them do. Also songs like: Leave Out all the Rest, My December, Shadow of the Day, Iridescent, Burning in the Skies, Castle of Glass, Roads Untraveled, and etc. are not edgy.

This is kinda true in my opinion. They usually have this annoyingly angst vocals in their music.

Their songs may not sound the same all the time but they are really ''edgy''', at least in my opinion.

2 Nickelback - Their songs have no meaning, they have no talent, and etc. Nickelback is a Canadian post-grunge band formed in 1995 in Hanna, Alberta, Canada. The band is composed of guitarist and lead vocalist Chad Kroeger, guitarist, keyboardist and backing vocalist Ryan Peake, bassist Mike Kroeger, and drummer Daniel Adair.

I don't agree with any of those stereotypes, because songs like: Because of You and Just to Get High do have meaning. Because of You, is a song about self harm, Just to Get High is about the dangers of drug addiction. Plus they aren't talentless, and their hate gets really annoying.

Most of their songs are kinda useless to me but they do have a couple good songs that I haven't listened to yet.

Feed the Machine seemed fairly meaningful and showed they had talent.

3 Marilyn Manson - He's satanic Brian Hugh Warner, better known by his stage name Marilyn Manson, is an American musician, songwriter, actor, painter, multimedia artist, author, and former music journalist.

He's controversial, but I don't think he's devil's music.

With that makeup he doesn't look satanic.

At least he got a good personality!

I don't see how he's "satanic".

4 Green Day - They sold out, they pander to emos, they're not punk and etc. Green Day are an American pop punk/punk rock band formed in East Bay, California in 1987. The members include Billie Joe Armstrong (vocals and guitar), Mike Dirnt (bass), Tré Cool (drums) and Jason White (guitar). Green Day are associated with punk rock, pop punk and alternative rock. Some of their influences include The Ramones, Sex Pistols, NOFX, and Bad Religion. They are best known for their songs like ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’, ‘Basket Case’ and their ‘American Idiot’ & ‘Dookie’ albums. American Idiot sold 6 million copies in the U.S. and won a Grammy Award for "Best Rock Album". Green Day have sold over 75 million records worldwide and have won 5 Grammy Awards. They ...read more.

Trying a different music style is not selling out, also they don't pander to "emos", and they definitely are punk considering how they have the aggressive "I DON'T CARE" punk attitude.

Green Day are too upbeat for emos. I do agree with the sellout part though.

They're punk not emo but yeah I do think they've sold out.

5 Three Days Grace - They're emo Three Days Grace is a Canadian post-grunge/alternative rock band formed in Norwood, Ontario in 1992 with a line-up consisting of guitarist and lead vocalist Adam Gontier, drummer and backing vocalist Neil Sanderson, and bassist Brad Walst. Their original name was Groundswell until they changed it to ...read more.

Simple Minded people call this band Emo.

6 Radiohead - Only has two good albums titled The Bends and OK Computer Radiohead are an English rock band from Abingdon, Oxfordshire, formed in 1985. The band consists of Thom Yorke (lead vocals, guitar, piano, keyboards), Jonny Greenwood (lead guitar, keyboards, other instruments), Colin Greenwoood (bass guitar), Phil Selway (drums), and Ed O'Brien (guitar).

I've never met anyone say this.

Kid A also is good

7 Eminem - He's always angry and yelling Eminem, born Marshall Bruce Mathers III, is an American rapper, actor and music producer born on October 17, 1972 in St. Joseph, Missouri. Eminem has sold over 300 million records making him the bestselling hip-hop artist of all time. In addition to his solo career, he is a member of D12 and (with Royce da 5'9") half of the hip-hop duo Bad Meets Evil. Rolling Stone ranked him 83rd on its list of 100 Greatest Artists of All Time, calling him the King of Hip Hop. Including his work with D12 and Bad Meets Evil, Eminem has had ten number-one albums on the Billboard 200 and 5 number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100, and 13 worldwide.

He's angry is most of his newer songs. He doesn't yell as much as he did around his Recovery era but when he does it sounds awful and nasal. His older songs aren't as aggressive though.

He might be aggressive in a lot of songs, but not all of them. He doesn't act black either, so he's not a wigger...

I don't like his yell rap.

8 AC/DC - All their songs sound the same AC/DC are a Australian hard rock band, formed in November 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young, who continued as members until Malcolm's illness and departure in 2014 . They were fronted by Bon Scott until his untimely death due to alcohol poisoning in 1979, after which they hired Brian Johnson to front the band. Commonly referred to as a hard rock or blues rock band.

Not a stereotype because it's true. I can barely tell any of their songs apart.

True to a extent.

9 Kesha - All of her songs are about partying, or sex Kesha Rose Sebert (formerly known as Ke$ha) was born on March 1st, 1987 in Los Angeles, United States. She is best known for her hits like Timber, Tik Tok, and We R Who We R. Kesha is an animal rights activist and she works for H.S.I. (Humane Society International). Kesha also stands up for L.G.B.T. rights in America

Pretty disprovable if you've heard any of the music she released in 2017.

10 Justin Bieber - He can't sing, he's the worst thing in existence, he's a abomination and etc. Justin Drew Bieber (born March 1, 1994) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and record producer. He currently resides in Ontario, Canada and is Christian. He is the son of author Pattie Mallette. ...read more.

Yeah I know it's annoying to include him on every list in existence... but Christ the Bieber has gotten very stale. I'm no fan of him, but he's not the worst thing ever made... and he can sing it's just very mediocre.

The Bieber haters are basically beating a dead horse. I'm not a fan of him but he's mediocre and irrelevant.

See his cover of Let It Be live, that is enough to convince you he's a respectable musicians.

I disagree! He CAN sing! But he's still the worst thing in the world. HAHA not a fan, but he can sing better than lil pump. *wink wink* JK

The Contenders
11 Imagine Dragons - Their songs are bland Imagine Dragons is an American pop rock band from Provo, Utah, and are now based out of Las Vegas, Nevada. Imagine Dragons' lineup consists of lead vocalist Dan Reynolds, guitarist Wayne Sermon, bassist Ben McKee, and drummer Daniel Platzman. The band first gained exposure with the release of their single "It's Time", followed by their award-winning debut studio album Night Visions (2012), which resulted in the chart-topping singles "Radioactive" and "Demons". Rolling Stone named "Radioactive", which holds the record for most weeks charted on the Billboard Hot 100, the "biggest rock hit of the year".

This is more of a true stereotype, because their music production is bland and none of their songs are anything past mediocre.

12 My Chemical Romance - They're emo My Chemical Romance is an American rock band from Jersey City, New Jersey, active from 2001 to 2013, and again from 2019 to present day. For much of their career, the band consisted of lead vocalist Gerard Way, guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero, bassist Mikey Way, and drummer Bob Bryar.

For every body saying that they're emo, understand that emo is a genre, and one that My Chemical Romance isn't. Just because they get labled as emo doesn't make them emo. Do you want to know why they get refered to as emo? Because their first album had a lot of elements of acutal emo. If you want to try out true emo, listen to Rites of Spring or Cap'n Jazz. And stop judging an artist because of their style. Even if you aren't a fan, give them the respect they deserve. I've listened to a few of their non-singles, and some of those lyrics are awesome. They're not a band I listen to much, but I could probably get into them someday. Another problem is that people judge and artist's whole discography after listening to a few singles. Sometimes you have to dive much deeper to find the true gems. I used to hate this band simply because I thought it was an "emo band" but then I actually gave them a chance, and I learned to respect them. I haven't listened to too many of their songs, but ...more

They're not emo, they're only called that because of their ridiculous fanbase. Gerard Way himself has stated that he doesn't like the term "emo".

They are emo, they dress like emos, are immature like emos and their music is trash.

They're actually pop punk and post-hardcore with a little bit alternative.

13 Travis Scott - he only knows how to use autotune

I agree that he uses a lot of autotuned in his songs but he has a lot of songs where he doesn't use autotune and raps normally.

14 Lil Pump - All his songs are trash Gazzy Garcia (known professionally as Lil Pump, born August 17th, 2000) is an American rapper, producer and songwriter. Gazzy began his career in 2016 with a collaboration freestyle with Smokepurpp, which was eventually posted in Soundcloud to popular success. He broke out to mainstream the following year with an eponymous debut album and the hit single "Gucci Gang", which peaked at 3rd in the Billboard Hot 100 .

His songs are trash though.

*mOST of his songs are trash. He does have a few bangers here and there but that's like 5% of his whole discography so I half-agree with this.

15 Trippie Redd - All he says is Big 14 and screams Michael Lamar White IV, known professionally as Trippie Redd, is an American rapper, singer and songwriter.

Trippie has toned the yelling down, probably because he's hitting puberty or for any other reasons. But his yelling takes time to get used to.

16 XXXTentacion - all he ever does is whine Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy (January 23, 1998 - June 18, 2018), known professionally as XXXTentacion, and often referred to as X, was an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and criminal.

XXX has a big variety of songs so he can whine in 1 song, scream in another and rap normally in another song.

17 Nicki Minaj - She's talentless, all of her songs are about sex, and etc. Onika Tanya Maraj, known professionally as Nicki Minaj (born December 8, 1982) is a Trinidadian/American rapper / pop music artist. Minaj is most known for her songs such as "Anaconda", "Super Bass", "Starships" and her feature on "Bang Bang". Despite her controversial songs, Brent Staples from "The New York Times" claimed her to be 'the most influential female rapper of all time', presumably distinctive for her fast flow and her use of alter egos with Cockney accent. She has endorsed Adidas, MAC Cosmetics and Pepsi. Minaj has received ten Grammy-nominations throughout her career, and has won multiple awards including the Billboard's Women in Music 2011 Rising Star award.

Granted she has made a few songs about sex... but surprisingly she made a decent song called Grand Piano something I honestly wouldn't expect from her. Not all of her songs are about sex, but the ones that are definitely suck. She has talent, but chooses to not show it and it's frustrating.

She is talented, some of her popular songs are her worst songs but she has a lot of meaningful songs like Grand Piano and All Things Go. Her most undiscovered songs are some of her best work.

Actually she does have talent, she has good verses on songs that feature her too.

She has talent, but she wastes it on crappy songs like "Anaconda" and "Stupid Hoe".

18 Metallica - They are sellouts Metallica is an American Heavy/Thrash Metal band formed in 1981 . The original lineup was James Hetfield (Vocalist and Rhythm guitarist), Dave Mustaine (Lead Guitar), Lars Ulrich (Drums), Ron McGovney (Bassist). The group came into mainstream from their Self-Titled album and the hit single "Enter Sandman". ...read more.
19 Taylor Swift - All of her songs are about break ups Taylor Alison Swift is an American singer-songwriter. She was born on December 13, 1989 in Reading, Pennsylvania. She is best known for writing personal songs and for having won 11 Grammys. She became interested in country music when she was around 9 years old, and after watching a documentary about Faith Hill, Swift felt that she should go to Nashville to begin a country music career. She then signed a contract with RCA Records and began to write songs.

Love Story isn't. You Belong With Me isn't. Shake it Off isn't. The list goes on. And so what if she sings about her exes? She actually has a good voice and good, catchy, songs.

Anyone who say this can't even name 10 songs.

20 Drake - He never actually raps Aubrey Drake Graham, known professionally as Drake, is a Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer and actor, born on October 24, 1986 in Toronto, Canada. He started his career on Canadian reality show "Degrassi: The Next Generation".
21 Avril Lavigne - She's a poser

I've always hated the word "poser".

22 Evanescence - All of their songs try too hard, their music is generic, and etc. Evanescence is an American rock band founded in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1995 by singer/pianist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody.

I majorly disagree with all of the stereotypes thrown at Evanescence, they're probably one of the most varied 2000s rock bands out there especially with The Open Door.

23 Shawn Mendes - Has no talent is only liked by 13 year old fangirls Shawn Peter Raul Mendes is a Canadian singer-songwriter and model. He attracted a following in 2013, when he began posting song covers on the popular video sharing application Vine.
24 Nirvana - People say that Kurt Cobain was the most talented artist of the 90s, but his songs have no meanings Nirvana was an American grunge band that was formed in Aberdeen, Washington in 1987. Nirvana disbanded after Kurt Cobain committed suicide in 1994. The drummer of the band, David Grohl, went on to start the Foo-Fighters, an alternative rock band. ...read more.
