Top 10 Music Artists with the Most Annoying Stereotypes

Ah stereotypes are so annoying, regardless of what they're related to. I'll be focusing on some stereotypes made on a couple of artists, if I missed one feel free to add one. But basically a stereotype is a false generalization about something or someone that is ultimately not true.
The Top Ten
1 Linkin Park - All of their songs sound the same, all of their songs are edgy, and etc. Linkin Park is an American alternative rock band formed in Agoura Hills, California, in 1996. The current members include Mike Shinoda (vocals, keyboards, rhythm guitar), Brad Delson (guitar), Dave "Phoenix" Farrell (bass), Joe Hahn (DJ), and Rob Bourdon (drums). Linkin Park is associated with a mixture... read more

Lol, whoever said that definitely only listened to their first two albums. As a big fan of Linkin Park, I know they always change their style in every album except the first two. For example, listen to Hands Held High, Iridescent, Roads Untraveled, Final Masquerade, and Battle Symphony (those are from their 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th albums respectively). Then compare them to their first two albums. If you still think they sound the same, you're deaf.

Not all of their songs sound the same. A few might, but not all of them do. Songs like Leave Out All the Rest, My December, Shadow of the Day, Iridescent, Burning in the Skies, Castle of Glass, Roads Untraveled, and others are not edgy.

2 Nickelback - Their songs have no meaning, they have no talent, and etc. Nickelback is a Canadian post-grunge band formed in 1995 in Hanna, Alberta, Canada. The band is composed of guitarist and lead vocalist Chad Kroeger, guitarist, keyboardist and backing vocalist Ryan Peake, bassist Mike Kroeger, and drummer Daniel Adair.

I don't agree with any of those stereotypes because songs like Because of You and Just to Get High do have meaning. Because of You is a song about self-harm, and Just to Get High is about the dangers of drug addiction. Plus, they aren't talentless, and the hate they get is really annoying.

Most of their songs feel meaningless to me, but they do have a couple of good tracks I haven't explored much yet.

Feed the Machine seemed fairly meaningful and showed they had talent.

3 Marilyn Manson - He's satanic Brian Hugh Warner, better known by his stage name Marilyn Manson, is an American musician, songwriter, actor, painter, multimedia artist, author, and former music journalist.

He's controversial, but I don't think his music is devil worship.

With that makeup, he doesn't look satanic.

At least he has a good personality!

4 Green Day - They sold out, they pander to emos, they're not punk and etc. Green Day are an American pop punk/punk rock band formed in East Bay, California in 1987. The members include Billie Joe Armstrong (vocals and guitar), Mike Dirnt (bass), Tré Cool (drums) and Jason White (guitar). Green Day are associated with punk rock, pop punk and alternative rock. Some of their... read more

Trying a different music style is not selling out. Also, they don't pander to "emos," and they definitely are punk, considering they have the aggressive "I DON'T CARE" punk attitude.

Green Day is too upbeat for emos. I do agree with the sellout part, though.

They're punk, not emo, but yeah, I do think they've sold out.

5 Three Days Grace - They're emo Three Days Grace is a Canadian post-grunge/alternative rock band formed in Norwood, Ontario in 1992 with a line-up consisting of guitarist and lead vocalist Adam Gontier, drummer and backing vocalist Neil Sanderson, and bassist Brad Walst. Their original name was Groundswell until they changed it to... read more

The band consists of Thom Yorke (lead vocals, guitar, piano, keyboards), Jonny Greenwood (lead guitar, keyboards, other instruments), Colin Greenwoood (bass guitar), Phil Selway (drums), and Ed O'Brien (guitar).
7 AC/DC - All their songs sound the same AC/DC are a Australian hard rock band, formed in November 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young, who continued as members until Malcolm's illness and departure in 2014 . He's angry in most of his newer songs. He doesn't yell as much as he did around his Recovery era, but when he does, it sounds awful and nasal. His older songs aren't as aggressive, though.

9 Kesha - All of her songs are about partying, or sex Kesha Rose Sebert (formerly known as Ke$ha) was born on March 1st, 1987 in Los Angeles, United States. She is best known for her hits like Timber, Tik Tok, and We R Who We R... read more

This is pretty easy to disprove if you've heard any of the music she released in 2017.

10 Justin Bieber - He can't sing, he's the worst thing in existence, he's a abomination and etc. Justin Drew Bieber (born March 1, 1994) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and record producer. He currently resides in Ontario, Canada and is Christian. He is the son of author Pattie Mallette... read more

Yeah, I know it's annoying to include him on every list in existence, but Christ, the Bieber has gotten very stale. I'm no fan of his, but he's not the worst thing ever made. He can sing, but it's just very mediocre.

The Bieber haters are basically beating a dead horse. I'm not a fan of him, but he's mediocre and pretty irrelevant now.

See his cover of Let It Be live. That's enough to convince you he's a respectable musician.

The Contenders
11 Imagine Dragons - Their songs are bland Imagine Dragons is an American pop rock band from Provo, Utah, now based out of Las Vegas, Nevada. The band's lineup consists of lead vocalist Dan Reynolds, guitarist Wayne Sermon, bassist Ben McKee, and touring drummer Andrew Tolman... read more
12 My Chemical Romance - They're emo My Chemical Romance is an American rock band from Jersey City, New Jersey, active from 2001 to 2013, and again from 2019 to present day. For much of their career, the band consisted of lead vocalist Gerard Way, guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero, bassist Mikey Way, and drummer Bob Bryar.

For everyone saying that they're emo, understand that emo is a genre, and one that My Chemical Romance isn't. Just because they get labeled as emo doesn't make them emo. Do you want to know why they get referred to as emo? Because their first album had a lot of elements of actual emo.

If you want to try out true emo, listen to Rites of Spring or Cap'n Jazz. Stop judging an artist because of their style. Even if you aren't a fan, give them the respect they deserve. I've listened to a few of their non-singles, and some of those lyrics are awesome. They're not a band I listen to much, but I could probably get into them someday.

Another problem is that people judge an artist's whole discography after listening to just a few singles. Sometimes you have to dive much deeper to find the true gems. I used to hate this band simply because I thought it was an "emo band," but then I actually gave them a chance, and I learned to respect them. I haven't listened to too many of their songs, but there are some great ones out there - ones I would have completely missed if I had kept judging and labeling them as "emo."

Just because teenage girls who call themselves "emo" listen to something, it doesn't automatically make it emo. I doubt that any of these "emos" actually listen to real emo music.

In short, My Chemical Romance aren't emo. Although I am not a huge fan, I have a lot of respect for these guys, and I honestly wish I had never judged them in the first place. Please, stop with the emo label. It's annoying and really shows your ignorance. Don't call My Chemical Romance emo unless you happen to be listening to their first, slightly emo-inspired album.

13 Travis Scott - he only knows how to use autotune

I agree that he uses a lot of autotune in his songs, but he has many tracks where he raps normally without it.

14 Lil Pump - All his songs are trash Gazzy Garcia (known professionally as Lil Pump, born August 17th, 2000) is an American rapper, producer and songwriter. Gazzy began his career in 2016 with a collaboration freestyle with Smokepurpp, which was eventually posted in Soundcloud to popular success. He broke out to mainstream the following... read more

Most of his songs are trash. He does have a few bangers here and there, but that's like 5% of his whole discography. So, I half-agree with this.

15 Trippie Redd - All he says is Big 14 and screams Michael Lamar White IV, known professionally as Trippie Redd, is an American rapper, singer and songwriter.

Trippie has toned the yelling down, probably because he's matured or for other reasons. But his yelling does take time to get used to.

16 XXXTentacion - all he ever does is whine Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy (January 23, 1998 - June 18, 2018), known professionally as XXXTentacion, and often referred to as X, was an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and criminal.

XXX has a big variety of songs. He can whine in one song, scream in another, and rap normally in yet another.

17 Taylor Swift - All of her songs are about break ups Taylor Alison Swift is an American singer-songwriter. She was born on December 13, 1989, in Reading, Pennsylvania. Swift is best known for writing personal songs and has won 13 Grammy Awards... read more

Love Story isn't. You Belong With Me isn't. Shake It Off isn't. The list goes on. And so what if she sings about her exes? She has a good voice and catchy songs.

Anyone who says this can't even name 10 songs.

18 Nicki Minaj - She's talentless, all of her songs are about sex, and etc. Onika Tanya Maraj, known professionally as Nicki Minaj (born December 8, 1982) is a Trinidadian/American rapper / pop music artist. Minaj is most known for her songs such as "Anaconda", "Super Bass", "Starships" and her feature on "Bang Bang"... read more

Granted, she has made a few songs about sex, but surprisingly, she made a decent song called Grand Piano - something I honestly wouldn't expect from her. Not all of her songs are about sex, but the ones that are definitely suck. She has talent, but chooses not to show it, and it's frustrating.

She is talented. Some of her popular songs are her worst, but she has a lot of meaningful songs like Grand Piano and All Things Go. Her most undiscovered songs are some of her best work.

Actually, she does have talent. She has good verses on many songs that feature her too.

19 Metallica - They are sellouts Metallica is an American Heavy/Thrash Metal band formed in 1981. The original lineup was James Hetfield (Vocalist and Rhythm guitarist), Dave Mustaine (Lead Guitar), Lars Ulrich (Drums), Ron McGovney (Bassist). The group came into mainstream from their Self-Titled album and the hit single "Enter Sandman"... read more

21 Shawn Mendes - Has no talent is only liked by 13 year old fangirls Shawn Peter Raul Mendes is a Canadian singer-songwriter and model. He attracted a following in 2013, when he began posting song covers on the popular video sharing application Vine.

I disagree. He is an amazing male singer, and yes, he does have talent. Don't be abusive.

22 Avril Lavigne - She's a poser

I've always hated the word "poser."

23 Evanescence - All of their songs try too hard, their music is generic, and etc. Evanescence is an American heavy alternative/alternative metal band. It was founded in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1995 by singer/pianist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody.

I strongly disagree with all the stereotypes aimed at Evanescence. They are probably one of the most varied 2000s rock bands, especially with The Open Door.

24 Nirvana - People say that Kurt Cobain was the most talented artist of the 90s, but his songs have no meanings Nirvana was an American grunge band that was formed in Aberdeen, Washington in 1987. Nirvana disbanded after Kurt Cobain committed suicide in 1994. The drummer of the band, David Grohl, went on to start the Foo-Fighters, an alternative rock band... read more
