Top 10 Artists with at Least 8 Top Ten Hit Songs in Austria in the 2000s
What does a music artist need to truly be more than just a one-hit wonder, more than a current trend that will soon be forgotten? Right, a whole bunch of hits. There are many musicians with one or two well-known songs, maybe even a number-one hit, who never deliver anything to maintain that success.
Of course, songs alone can't measure the full impact of an artist. Albums are important as well. Some of the decade's most famous musicians have extremely strong album sales, even when their individual tracks rarely rank highly on the charts. However, for most music celebrities, high chart positions for their songs indicate the magnitude of their popularity.
I already took a look at artists with an outstanding number of hit songs in Austria in this decade (for future TopTenners finding this list: the 2010s). Now, I also wanted to dig deeper to see which artists were that successful in the previous decade. This list is a very accurate depiction of the music that was popular when I was growing up. I was born in 1996, so the hits by these artists were all over the radio and TV when I was a kid. (Of course, there were other well-known artists as well who just barely missed the list by one song.)
So, let's take a look at artists with an outstanding number of top ten hits on the Austrian charts in the 2000s. For my list, I compiled every top ten hit of the respective artist that first charted in the 2000s on the Austrian Ö3 Charts. I included songs where the artist was credited as either the main artist or a featured guest. I decided to include the latter since many songs became popular specifically because of the featured musician's participation, and often their contribution is equal to or even greater than that of the main artist.
What does not count is if the artist was otherwise involved in a song (e.g., as a songwriter). Additionally, groups and solo projects of individual members count as two separate discographies. For example, if the lead singer of a band had 4 solo top ten hits and 4 with their band, they would not qualify for the list. Charity projects are a special case. They will appear in the listing of hits, but to be included on the list, the artist must have had at least 8 top ten hits excluding those songs.
It is completely irrelevant for this list if the artist also had top ten hits before or after the 2000s. This list is just meant to demonstrate their impact in the specific decade of the 2000s.
Enjoy!

I think it is quite interesting that "Dear Mr. President," a political song specifically about the American president (George Bush Jr. at that time), became P!nk's first number one hit and the third best-selling single of 2007 in Austria, but didn't even chart in the USA.
I mean, it happened several times that songs by American artists are much more popular abroad (Anastacia, who just barely missed this list with 7 top ten hits, knows what I mean). However, in this case, it is especially strange due to the topic.
