Top Ten Saddest Anime Songs
The title says it all! Which songs in anime are truely the saddest? This song makes me feel so much of emotion. Tears begin to swell in my eyes every time I hear it. I guess it's because this song is relate-able to so many of us. Still, it's number 1 in my top ten saddest anime music. Second would be the "man of the world, loneliness, despair, nightfall" compilation from Naruto Shippuden.
Orange (Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso/Your Lie in april) Should be #1 honestly. I am a diehard Naruto fan, and I cry for Naruto too, but this anime made me wail and sob in only 22 episodes. Thumbs up because I love this song and Naruto, but I think Orange should be at the top (even though its title is unusual).
I'm glad this soundtrack got #1 on this list. The first time they used this soundtrack was when Haku had his childhood explained and his death. I think why everyone liked this soundtrack is the way it was timed during those last episodes of arc 1. Great way to start the series.
Memories of every Naruto death comes back to you in a flash... you can almost feel everything Naruto went through, being looked down on, hated, all alone... the melody is so beautiful. I want this played at my funeral.
Throughout the years, though it has lost its previous charm, when hearing it I reminisce about my school years, back when I still knew the joys of laughter and friendship. This song is the last tie I have with my former friends, as we bonded, young and innocent, over our mutual love of anime and manga, only three years ago. The present is different than the past; sometimes, late at night, I can still vaguely picture the beautiful face of the girl I once loved, the memory of her becoming my most precious treasure.
This is the saddest anime song I've heard so far. What the song is about is in the title itself: My Most Precious Treasure. The lyrics of the song state that the memory of everyone laughing is the character's most precious treasure. Mix this in with the storyline - especially in Episode 10 and Episode 13 - and you'll definitely feel the raw emotions of the characters. "...but if I try closing my eyes, I can hear everyone's laughing voices. Somehow, that is my most precious treasure."
This song is absolutely beautiful.. and sad - it makes you realize that even though you are alone you should still have hope.. that something good will happen soon and you mustn't lose faith :C I don't understand much Japanese but I know what some things mean.. and they are very sad. This song is so emotional. The lyrics, even though you don't understand them, are so touching... this song describes the whole anime; how the characters die but are still fighting for their revenge on god. This song literally destroys your heart.
This song is great, I want to learn how to play this on the piano... This song's lyrics describe the anime and it has story in it, it also looks that the song was telling you to enjoy life until you have everyone precious to you, cause someday God can take them all away from you so don't waste time and don't have any regrets... This song just really have an awesome music and a heart-touching message... Wonderful :'-)
This anime had me crying for a whole week. The song is really beautiful and suits the main character so much. This anime's opening song is one of best anime openings I have ever heard.
This song is so beautiful and sad. In fact, I'm listening to it right now. As I type this. The lyrics are great, this song is definitely one of my favourite anime openings.
One hell of a life changing anime for me. Makes me embrace my sorrow as strength now. Absolutely touching song. Revivals 'Unraveled" in my heart
This is the saddest and best sad song in the entire universe. I love it so much I want this to be played at my funeral.
I like it a lot
This was the saddest song I have ever heard. I cry every time I hear this and It makes me feel really torn apart. Completely the saddest ost I have ever heard and I really like it.
It feels just like when you're having a Morning Remembrance.
This is an amazing song! Should be in top 5! Perfect for the saddest moments in Bleach
Bleach is awesome, so is this song.

I watched Air and I'm super sad when Mizusu died in her mother (the mother who adopted her and been taking care of her after 10 years). And the song makes it even depressing! Gao *sobs* Gao! *cries dramatically*
This song is beautiful. It played at Misuzu's death. It's really touching.
Can't help but cry whenever I hear this song.. T_T
Spoilers guys damn
It has no translation, which is part of the reason. I love how it's mysterious with a tinge of sadness. Kina reminds me of homura. Try visualizing homura with this song.
This anime is very underrated, but the soundtrack is absolutely beautiful and this is my favorite song.
This anime was one of the best I've come across so far, and this song is part of the reason. It's so beautiful.
The reason I dislike this anime so much, was because it shattered my heart into a million tiny pieces...

When I heard the slow version of this song, I suddenly felt sadness. It is an absolute contrast with the normal one. At first, I thought Fairy Tail is just an anime that is meant to be funny but as the story progress, it is not like what I thought.
I love the anime and manga, and trust me when I say, that this is one of those shows that can get you laughing your ass off one second, and crying your eyes out the next.
My first and favourite song is FAIRY TAIL. Its main theme inspires me the most. Me and my friends always sing 1D song but my otaku never forget about ANIME,and when it is Anime, the first thing comes to our mind is Fairy Tail. and we go back discussing about the main theme
The main theme wasn't supposed to be sad but when played ballade it becomes the spitting image of my clinical depression.
Whenever I listen to this, it makes me so sad, and reminds me of Itachi's death by Sasuke.. Aww, I'm sad now.. Thanks for that Naruto! I am now upset
Its great ya know

It's quite a beautiful song. Amazing song for the sad parts of Fullmetal Alchemist.

Only a man can kill a monster.
I think Inevitabilis, the piano version of this song is sadder but whatever, this one's really good too.

I listen to this song and every time I just feel peacefulness and sadness...
I really love this song. It has no words, but you can feel the emotion flowing from it. You can make up a story for it, or you can use the real one. The real story is this:
Princess Usagi gave her beloved prince, Mamora, a locket. The locket had been passed down by moon royalty for forever. That day, Mamora left to fight in a war. The moon kingdom was almost wiped out. In hopes of one day restoring her kingdom, Queen Serenity used the last of her power to send her royal court, daughter, and the prince to earth. Now, when ever Usagi hears this locket she is overwhelmed with sorrow, and she cannot remember why. Not even of the lover she almost lost to evil.
Love this song, it goes perfectly with the scene in SM it's played in. They couldn't pick a better song.
It just reminds me of the ending of Anohana especially with its beautiful lyrics, marvelous tune, and other synonyms for awesome tone. Listening to it will bring you the feels deep in your heart
I didn't even watch the anime but the song is really emotional and brings tears to my eyes when listening to while knowing the lyrics.
The best song for me its written very beautifully the lyrics the song can make a person even by reading the lyrics.
The lyrics so well composed. The anime so well made. Every time I listen to this song, it brings tears to my eyes.
Every time I listen to this I think of the deep story of when they cry, and the deaths, the feels and the pain. If you don't cry at some point in this song you are heartless...
Oh, my God, this song got me bawling like a baby for days. It has that kind of sad feel to it, even when you haven't watched Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. And the story behind it...;n;
Best song ever, tons of feels, very emotional and describes beautiful feelings.
A simple yet underrated song, it is one of the most memorable I've heard to date.
I just looked at the lyrics:
"How can I repay you, brother mine?
How can I expect you to forgive?
Clinging to the past
I shed our blood, and shattered your chance to live
Though I knew the laws, I paid no heed
How can I return your wasted breath?
What I did not know has cost you dear,
For there is no cure for death
Beautiful Mother,
Soft and sweet, once you were gone
We were not complete
Back through the years
We reached for you
Alas t'was not meant to be
And how can I make amends for all that I took from you?
I led you with hopeless dreams
My brother, I was a fool
Don't cry for the past now, brother mine
Neither you nor I are free from blame
Nothing can erase the things we did,
For the path we took was the same
Beautiful Mother,
Soft and sweet, once you were gone
We were not complete
Back through the years
We reached for you
Alas t'was not meant to be
My dreams made me blind and mute
I longed to ...more
WHAT? This should be in the top 5 if not in the first slot. I love this song, it's impossible to not get teary eyed when you listen to it.
It is so sad and yet so happy at the same time. It reminds you of the Elric's past, and yet gives you hope for their next victory.
This song is highly emotional and perfectly captures the Elric brothers' tragic past. This song should be number one!
