Top 10 Songs to Get You Into Meshuggah

Meshuggah is a Swedish extreme metal band that formed in 1987. They later developed a heavy, low-tuned, palm-muted sound that helped pioneer what we know as djent today.

They are not the easiest band to get into, but hopefully this list can help you out.

  1. Bleed

    Even non-Meshuggah fans know this song. It's quite popular in the modern metal scene. One may say it's a bit of a meme in some cases. Still a good track to start with.

    Yep, that was the first song by them I heard and liked.

  2. Demiurge

    This was one of my first few Meshuggah songs before I really started to get into them. It's not too complex like their other works, and it has a great headbangable riff.

  3. Rational Gaze

    This song has a good groove and is generally one of the more well-known Meshuggah tracks.

    Bleed is too heavy for some. Rational Gaze is a nice track to start off with.

  4. New Millennium Cyanide Christ

    The first song I listened to by them was actually Cadaverous Mastication, which I really liked, but this song made me love this band.

    If you want a bit of their older stuff, this is a good track to start with, along with Future Breed Machine.

  5. Future Breed Machine

    This almost has a sense of thrash and groove in it. It's pretty heavy, but many Meshuggah tracks generally are. To me, this is the best of their older songs.

  6. I Am Colossus

    Like Demiurge, it isn't overly complex for the beginner Meshuggah fan and has a great groove to it.

  7. Combustion

    This is a pretty energetic and fast-paced Meshuggah song that I can see being a good start for newcomers.

  8. Straws Pulled At Random

    This, alongside Rational Gaze, Demiurge, and Bleed, was among the first four tracks to get me into Meshuggah.

    Another good obZen song to check out.

  10. Corridor of Chameleons

    A more underrated track from their Chaosphere album. It's pretty good and has a good riff and groove all the way through.

    Bleed was the first song I heard that made me go and listen to all of their stuff. I started off with the album "None," and Humiliative was the first song. I loved it on first listen. Such a sick groove this song has. A song that gets better as it goes. You thought the song was over? Nah, here is another nasty switch-up!
