Your friends won't talk about your favorite bands with you
Me: Have you heard Iron Maiden?
Friend: Iron who? Anyway, listen to 'Blank Space' by Taylor Swift. It's like the world's most awesome song, way better than your Iron whatever.
This person has never heard a single Maiden song, yet he/she criticizes it. Grow up and give metal a chance.

Oh, I see, all stereotypes. In fact, I am the least depressed person among my friends, and I am sure that to a huge extent metal music keeps depression away from me because a Canadian winter is harsh and long. I never was emo or psychotic.
I am prone to depression. That's it.

Your friends mock you for liking metal and rock
Yes! Once I felt awful because my whole school life, I thought my friends enjoyed it too until I overheard a conversation between them both. This was what they said:
"I can't keep this up forever."
"She's really addicted. We can't pretend to like rock anymore, but she'd be angry if we told her pop is better."
"Yeah, Taylor Swift beats Queen 100 percent."
"Yeah!"
I haven't told them I heard that conversation. They told me later on. They really like Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, and it's sad. I'm also really shy, and I like rock, and honestly, people in my school think I'm depressed or just flipping stupid. They treat me like I'm 4. It annoys me to death! Luckily, TheTopTens exists.

I appreciate metal, although I prefer undyed hair and bright clothing (no makeup or heavy eyeliner), so I'm not really following any stereotype. I just like the music. However, most of my friends listen to country or pop, making it hard for us to agree on a song. Thankfully, my best friend also listens to a large variety, so I can just put on a random song on my phone and she's completely cool with it! Also, extremely good idea for a list!

Your friends think metal bands are using you as a slave
Yeah, I have to pay for their meals during tours. I cook for them too. I fan them when they get too hot, especially during and after concerts. I wipe away their tears. I iron their clothes. I buy them the best new razors so they always have the smoothest, closest shaves. I take the itchy tags off their new shirts. I put little butter squares/cubes onto their pancakes. I put ice in their teas. I knit them blankets. I am required to tell everyone how awesome they are and to listen to them. I read them bedtime stories. I juggle and do backflips for them. (All sarcasm.)
