Top 10 Best 13 Reasons Why Characters
13 Reasons Why brought Jay Asher's 2007 novel to life and adding layers of depth and complexity that kept fans hooked season after season. The show dives into some of the most intense, real-world issues young people face, from bullying and mental health struggles to betrayal and forgiveness. The characters in 13 Reasons Why aren't just faces on a screen - they represent raw, sometimes challenging, and very human journeys. They're flawed, often lovable, and sometimes deeply frustrating, and they're a huge reason why the show struck such a powerful chord with its audience.
It's so easy to hate a lot of characters in this show, but Jeff is the only one that is an exception. He supported Clay and helped him throughout the show. He is such a simple character but holds a lot of positivity.
Jeff was the nicest character who inspired Clay to get out of his comfort zone and get a life. He was supportive, true, and honestly hot.
He influenced Clay as his mentor and friend. The most positive, kind, and caring character on the show.

His character development is great. The poor guy was born into a hopeless situation, causing him to rely on the wrong person and associate with the wrong people. Justin made a lot of bad decisions, but he's really sorry for them, so I hope he finds a way to recover and get his life back on track. I just want a happy ending for him.
I think Justin is so kind-hearted, and he has troubles at home, so everything he has done is not his fault. I learned to love him in season 2. What happened to him in season 4 - I can't, I cried so hard.

R.O.D Tony has been one of my favorite characters from the jump. At first, I was wary of him, but as he becomes more than just the tape messenger and more of a trustworthy friend, you start to love him. Tony may be the most trustworthy character to ever touch the screen. You can tell him anything, and he won't speak about it to anyone. Although sometimes it doesn't work out, he is still the most lovable character in the show.
He's the guy who is really a true friend - to Hannah and Clay. He proved himself as not just a "fair-weather friend," but stuck with Clay despite everything Clay did to him and blamed him for. Level-headed, funny, protective, cool, and kind, Tony is #1.

He's a brave guy who'd stand up to bullies like Monty and Bryce. He's a little disabled, but that doesn't prevent him from putting up a good fight. I wish that the story revolved around him a little more. A loyal and trustworthy friend who'd give a shoulder to lean on as well as good advice.
He's a realist and such a sweetie. He's one of Hannah's only friends who actually cared for her. He realized what he did right away and felt horrible, and not to mention he's so good looking.
He's very realistic, and he sees things as they are. He's smart, and even though he doesn't talk that much, his words say a lot.

Zach is mean to Tyler, but he's nowhere near as bad as Monty. He's an amazing big brother to his younger sister, protecting her, and he's a pretty sweet guy.
Considering some of the other characters on the show, I didn't feel like Zach was completely awful after watching season 1. Many did worse things, and he kept the note, which gave him some depth even though the first season didn't give him too much of a plot line. Season 2 is where he really starts developing, which made me like his character even more. He's great, and I really enjoyed episode 7 (S2).

Like Hannah said, he isn't every other guy. Yes, he's irrational in the middle of the series, but when you see him with Hannah or before the suicide, he's just the most likable person. When every other person put their hands on their girlfriends' butts, he still put his hands on her back. That's respect right there, and I think we all should appreciate that. There are more reasons why, but I think he should be higher on this list.
He was a caring, kind, and likable protagonist. His only problem was taking so long to hear the tapes. Otherwise, his socially awkward and emotional character was a standout in the series along with characters like Tony, Alex, and Jeff.

Jessica is definitely my favorite, especially after seasons 2 and 3. She is such a strong character. She's been through a lot and came out as a badass, funny, and unbelievably strong warrior. She truly is a survivor, and she deserved so much better. I hope she'll get happiness in season 4.
She suffered so much and made a couple of mistakes, which is only human.

She was intelligent, witty, and lovely. The only person who was nice to everyone apart from Jeff. She made some mistakes, but by the time she could correct them, she was gone. She was young and had no proper guidance. I don't blame her for anything that happened to her. Without therapy and medication, you can't avert suicide, and the poor girl was deprived of it. People who say that she was an awful person because she killed herself don't know anything about depression and how it affects people. Hannah is forever my favorite.

Wish you had stuck around for much longer. I really liked your character, and I honestly think you were my favorite. After you were gone, I didn't really like anyone else.
She is a nice person. Even though she did stupid things, she went to the clubhouse and helped Clay a lot.
Good person, scared of the consequences of her deeds. Tries to fix things up.

Actually not a bad guy, to be honest. He is caring as he has a family of his own. I really like him, as he cares for a lot of children.
The Newcomers

He admits to his shortcomings, as displayed when he simply shrugged in acceptance when Alex described him as an arrogant snob. Compared to a lot of the other characters, he didn't do all that much wrong. Not to mention his sarcastic and witty remarks are a much-needed breath of fresh air from all the intense fumes the other characters of the show bring.
Ryan is very funny but sometimes doesn't express enough of his emotion.
He is the one thing that prevents me from crying 24/7 while watching.

Next to Sheri and her husband, the only characters I liked and didn't want to punch in the face every time they made a dumb decision or simply said something annoying as hell.
Olivia wants justice for her daughter, and I honestly can't blame her at all! It's not her fault, nor is it Hannah's fault.
Hannah's mom. Wants justice and truth. Struggles after losing her only child and shows what parents feel.

Bryce has been my favorite character since season one. I believe Justin Prentice is the best actor on the show, and the detail and emotion put into his character are amazing. I love watching him, despite the things Bryce has done.
Bryce is one of my favorite characters. I feel like people automatically hate him because he was a rapist. Now, I know that is bad, but you have to admit that his character was portrayed very well.
Of course, the character is not likable whatsoever. But he really is one of the most interesting characters, and the way he is portrayed is just brilliant and confusing at the same time.

He is my favorite character. He was the most interesting, and I couldn't stop smiling every time he came on screen, besides the whole Tyler thing. I thought he was funny, loyal, and fearless. If his friends needed him, he was there just like that.
Monty mooning Tyler was funny. He's so good looking but has a very psychotic heart because of his abusive dad.
Super nice and sweet. Helped Alex when he was having a bad day. So underrated.

I don't know whether to like him or not, to be honest, but at least he's not as bad as Bryce and Monty, though.
Nice guy. Realized that Bryce was not the right person to be friends with.
He's cute, especially when he stops Clay from getting beat up again.

Another character who had great development. Tyler went from being a weird stalker to a character who just wanted to be free and loved. What happened to him in season 2 was truly sad, and listening to him tell Clay and Jessica about it was one of the saddest moments in the show, along with Justin's death. I never thought Tyler would end up being such an important character in the show, but he plays his role the best way you possibly could.
I like Tyler. He is not my favorite. That is Alex, but he sort of reminds me of myself at that age. I never went to that extreme, but things that happened to him didn't happen to me. I was an artistic girl, shy, and it was hard to express my feelings and thoughts. Also, being a kid that everybody left behind turned him into that. He is not a creep. He is just a sad and lonely boy who is everybody's punching bag.

Underrated. He is a good father and supported his son well. Also, he gave Clay privacy when he needed it, unlike his mother.
This girl is so amazing, I can't even express my love for her! She is breathtaking and such a talented young soul! I think you would love her too if you met her. She is wonderful.
The actress who plays her is so talented!
She is so pretty! She's my inspiration.
