Top 10 Best British Sitcoms (Britcoms)
-
Only Fools and Horses
Boycie and Trigger are by far the funniest characters, along with Del and Rodney.
Very well written, with laughs every minute, but it has some depth and a strong storyline.
-
Fawlty Towers
Fawlty Towers is a British television sitcom created by John Cleese and Connie Booth. It aired on BBC2 in 1975 and 1979, with two series consisting of six episodes each. The show is widely regarded as one of the greatest British sitcoms of all time due to its sharp writing and iconic performances.
This is a classic. John Cleese has never made anything quite the same since or before. This deserves to be number one because it didn't just have clever one-liners (like Blackadder, though Blackadder deserves the second spot), humorous plots, and build-up jokes. It includes all of those themes. This is just fantastic.
This is a genius show of all time! It's up there with Keeping Up Appearances. If anything, these two should be tied as #1!
Who hates Fawlty Towers?!?! One of the most unique and hilarious comedies of its time. I wish it were still going.

Red Dwarf is a British science fiction comedy franchise that primarily consists of a television sitcom. It originally aired on BBC Two from 1988 to 1999 and was revived on the channel Dave starting in 2009. The show has gained a significant cult following.
Red Dwarf is the only sci-fi in this list! It provides some of the funniest and most ridiculous situations, and it's unique in so many aspects. The characters rock, and the series itself develops into different styles as it moves on. My favorite series ever!
Red Dwarf is brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. It's unique, hilarious, and great to watch again and again. You never get bored. Best comedy in the world!
British comedy is always either Red Dwarf or inept by comparison. But Blackadder is funny.
