Best Albums of All Time

The Contenders: Page 4

61 The Joshua Tree - U2

Every single song in this album has a deep meaning embodied in itself. It is probably the best album of the greatest mellow rock band and U2's class is reflected in this piece of musical art. I on behalf of all U2 fans across the globe salute these legends who are responsible to bestow us peace of mind and satisfaction of soul

Look honestly this album should be in the top 10. Aside from the Beatles, Bob Dylan, and maybe Pink Floyd or the Stones, U2 is the greatest band, and aside from Achtung Baby, this is the greatest album. The Joshua Tree is full of lyrics that touch your soul in ways others simply don't. This album will understand you more than you understand you.

The greatest alum ever, where else would you find some of the greatest songs ever...This would pass as a best of album for any other band in the world.

Should be top 10

62 Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs - Derek and the Dominos

The greatest collection of love songs of all time, I really expected this to be top 10. - Doom

63 Plastic Ono Band - John Lennon

The most emotional experience you can have with a piece of music

51? Are you guys out of your mind? this is the album that got John Lennon to continue making music for us! - Mumbizz01

I would put this up there with Sargent Peppers and Revolver. Simply amazing. - jefflebowski

64 Ganging Up On the Sun - Guster

Not my personal pick (Which is a tie between Pink Floyd's The Wall and Queen's A Night At The Opera,) But I'm still really happy to see Guster on here. They deserve 10 times the fans that they have now. Their songs are so quirky and strangely beautiful that you can't help but be charmed by them. Awesome band, terrific album.

65 Van Halen - Van Halen

Infectious, melodic, and ear blistering! Still has me in awe. It's impact on the future guitar slingers alone makes it a top 20, and the fact most if these sings are known and loved by most put in top 10!

For grab your *****, EXCITEMENT,non-cerebral,kick ass guitar,no pretense, straight ahead ummm ROCK AND ROLL..don't overlook this one!

Among my favorite groups of all time, and this is definitely their best effort. Not sure this is a top ten album, certainly top 20 for me.

Love the 80s rock sound xx

67 Vulgar Display of Power - Pantera

Its hard to believe people are voting for sissy boy bands over this tough heavy album. What the hell people

One of their best. Great ballads. True power.

Best album ever. It contains "Walk" and "Mouth for War"; isn't it enough to be the best?

First 6 or 7 songs are great, then it slides a little bit

68 Rage Against the Machine - Rage Against the Machine

RATM: empowering a rebellion amongst a society where the majority believes there's nothing to rebel GENIUS! This record is a true masterpiece that undoubtedly deserves a spot in the top 5. You should all be ashamed of yourselves, every song is phenomenal

This was the first album on the list that I seen that I actually own so I vote for this one. Also love Rage Against The Machine! - Jonerman

Another great album to work out to

69 Nightmare - Avenged Sevenfold

This album has 3-4 hits that make this album memorable for foREVer. RIP THE REV

Easily one of the greatest albums of all time

1. Ten 2. Nightmare... This should be the top 2

Nice rock song

70 Led Zeppelin I - Led Zeppelin

Of all if the great Led Zeppelin albums, this is the best. Just so many classic songs! Good Times Bad Times, Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You, Communication Breakdown, Dazed and Confused, pretty much every track on this album is great. Also, this is the best debut album ever.

Led Zeppelin's first through sixth album are the most consistantly brilliant string of rock albums ever made, surpassing the Beatles and Stones easily. Any one of them could top this list. - bobby

This album is it. This is the greatest Rock and Blues album ever.

Just amazing all around

71 BloodSugarSexMagik - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Amazing album. It have everything. From punk, over rock to funk and pop

its the best album I've ever lisin 2. it has so many styles of music. - bleaghh

I personally think that Californication, but Blood Sugar Sex Magik is not far behind at all. I'm listening to it right now!

Unbelievable album, masterpiece

72 A Thousand Suns - Linkin Park

This is the most hated album of the band, but it's the best. Just listen with good headphones, the lyrics are fantastic, the sound is innovative and complex. The conception of nuclear war is genius, listen songs like The Catalyst (my favorite of all the songs from all artists) Iridescent, Waiting For the End. Linkin Park fans unfortunately do not value this masterpiece, the best job of band. This deserves better placement, I vote for A Thousand Suns.

This NEEDs to be at the top. It's a smart album for once in music history. a smart BAND for once in music history - MaddSpazz

This a garbage album, one of the worst LP has done. Horrible songwriting, production, vocals, everything about this album is horrendous. - Satire

Incredibly underrated album from a sometimes overrated band. This is the only time you see Linkin Park go to great heights and attempt to pull a Radiohead, almost completely changing their style for the better and creating easily the most cohesive album of the 2010s.
Just... listen to the first three tracks. If you're a fan of music in general, you will be pleasantly surprised. - Aaronardo

73 Sha Sha - Ben Kweller
74 Toxicity - System of a Down

Every song has a message that it reveals, and most songs are underrated because of the album's singles.
This should be much higher people, vote!

This and Lateralus are the best! Lateralus isn't even on this list though! And Lateralus is probably BETTER than Toxicity! - moose4life19

I don't understand how this is so low and lateralus isn't even on the list. - Flying_spidermonkey

Easily the best album of all time

75 True Blue - Madonna

Everything about Madonna is so intriguing. True Blue is one of the most successful albums of history, and one of the Queen's very best. Papa Don't Preach, Open Your Heart, Live To Tell, La Isla Bonita... such songs are not merely hits but masterpieces, immoratal musical achievemments. Perfection.

Just because Michael Jackson died, it doesn't make him the best artist of all time. People, please stop giving him a pity vote! Madonna was a true artist. She wrote her songs, created her own music, directed her own videos, organized her tours. MJ was good, but NOTHING compared to a great artist like Madonna.

While I absolutely love and admire Madonna and her body of work (although I'd hardly call this her BEST album), she has never directed her own music videos. Perhaps devised their concepts and such, but to my knowledge has never been the director of any music video she's done. - theOpinionatedOne

True Blue is a masterpiece and Madonna's best album, you don't hear such quality in today's music scenario. It is truly her immaculate collection!

Great one; )

76 Hysteria - Def Leppard

The Beatles, Stones, the Who, Zeppelin, and Floyd albums deserve their respective places on this list because of their great song writing and backing music. They all stand alone but on the next level a band like definitely Leppard leads the charge. They had several great albums, led by Hysteria, an album that has been underrated due to it's connection to the hair band era. It had six hit singles and the fillers were nearly as good. How many albums out there can you say that about? This should be at least a top 75 album.

One of the Staples of 80's Rock. Def Leppard Blew down the doors in 87 with this album. For a while they were the biggest band in the world.

151? REALLY I'm shocked they are amazing čśŹ xx

77 Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John

Artwork is second to none. This album contains most of the songs on Elton Johns Greatest Hits album and "Candle In The Wind".

You are given the beautiful candle in the wind which follows the amazingly composed Funeral for a Friend, then he comes at you with Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting. This is Elton John. He is the most talented, diverse artist to ever live.] - LPR20

Influential & powerful album many years prior to 'candle in the wind' becoming the top selling single in the last 50 years.

It should be in the top twenty

78 Dreamboat Annie - Heart

So happy to see this on a "best" list! One of my all-time favorites!

Absolute classic and a gem of an original album.

Love this band. Real rock pioneers.

Great songs and singing!

79 Come on Over - Shania Twain

Shania is just so amazing, I only discovered her songs recently but she is just amazing. I am so glad I came across her because wow, she is just so talented and amazing. All her songs are amazing and I love her so much. My favorite song by her is totally that don't impress me much, this song is just the best and it is so catchy. Shania put country-pop on new level with this album.

The Best selling country album of all time. Record sales of 39 million world withe. The best selling album by a female of all time.

And the singer herself, she's so amazing and very sexy.

80 Unknown Pleasures - Joy Division

Man, this is literally one of the best albums of all time how is this not at least within the top 3, and even more to the point, how did things like Michael jackson, lady gaga and other albums that are near 20th place get in front of JOY DIVISION has the world gone insane!

I cannot say this is the greatest album of all time because as I look through this list I see so many albums I could rank at number 1 but damn this is a good album, there are so many fantastic albums not on this list and so many awful albums that are but Joy Divisions Unknown Pleasures should be in the top 5!

86th is a disgraceful place for one of the most extraordinary albums to emerge from the Manchester punk scene. Not only a pioneer for all the fantastic post-punk albums that would follow, Unknown Pleasures is a masterpiece of lyrics and minimalism. - mjgass

This is a pretty important album in the music industry and one of my favorites. - Mumbizz01
