Best Internet Game Reviewers
If you havent seen these guys, you should check em out.If you're looking for reviewers, it's hard to find many that compare to the Nerd. The original granddaddy and pretty much the first video game reviewer, you have him to thank for even making gaming reviews a genre.
As much as I like AVGN, this guy has no equal. I've watched his show since day one. My favorite is the Pitfall episode, which I think is Episode 76.
I laughed my butt off and showed it to everyone, and they laughed as well.
P.S. His movie is really funny too.
He called the Atari 5200 a ginormous closet. He called the Sega CD a deformed parasite. He called the SNES a piss-colored Fisher Price toy. What's not to like? He even dissed Nintendo World Championships 1990 for the NES!
Very professional, methodical, and thorough. Although some people frame him as a raging, yelling nerd, he's actually a very nice guy who only gets angry when he feels gamers are being ripped off or abused by the cold-hearted gaming industry.
He is the voice for every gamer who thinks the gaming industry could do better for all the money and support it gets. Thanks to reviewers like him, more of us get quality over quantity, and he should be more relevant.
He went to the VGA awards to tell the host what they were doing wrong. He's professional but funny when appropriate. He's not biased towards any game series. He even gave bad reviews to sequels of games that he loves, like Fable III, Dragon Age II (or III, not sure which one), and The Elder Scrolls Online.
His reason for sounding so negative in his reviews is actually really solid. It's so that the truly brilliant aspects of a game can shine through and so that the negative qualities can be used as lessons for future game designers on pitfalls to avoid in general game design.
He is hysterical! How he isn't at number one is beyond me! I've nearly pissed myself in the past listening to him!
Zero Punctuation is consistently funny - like actual laugh-out-loud funny. Recommended.
By far the best one ever. Every one of his videos is so memorable with his lines and words. I don't know how to describe them, but he deserves to be number one.
All I should need to say as to why this guy should be number one is simple. It's these next five words:
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts.
I rest my case.
Jon is not only an incredibly charismatic and funny guy, but he also has really high-quality original content... The scarcest of things you can find on YouTube.
He's not necessarily a video game reviewer, even though he reviewed a game only once. Either way, the Nostalgia Critic is insanely funny and always keeps his quality fairly fresh.
The only internet celebrity who's as funny as stand-up comedians.
The best YouTuber ever, hands down.
I actually feel that he is one of the only good critics out there. He makes honest reviews about games that I enjoy. Also, Fringy is an awesome critic as well. You should check him out because he's only got a few subscribers.
I like his objective approach to first impressions of video games.
Juan Ortiz, or as some call him, Johnny, is a fantastic reviewer. He started out with a show called The Super Gaming Bros. with his brother Elliot. Since Elliot decided to stick to the Let's Play channel they have (Super Gaming Bros. Play, with John, Elliot, and their friend Matt), Johnny decided to do the review show alone and renamed it Johnny vs. The World.
Johnny is great because he doesn't try to be funny - it comes naturally. He doesn't just get angry during reviews. He actually reviews them really well, providing plot summaries, in-depth analysis, and funny moments. He's also a professional animator and has some pretty funny animations too. So check him out! He's personally one of my favorite reviewers and definitely deserves more subscribers!
Really enjoy his videos! Both on his main channel and his second channel. To me, it's just really enjoyable. What I also like is that he often doesn't swear, which makes his content a bit more for everyone.
This guy is hilarious. His videos on Hey You, Pikachu, Tomodachi Life, Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, and the MySims games are some of his best, but almost all his videos are great.
Not for everyone, but still awesome.
While fighting bad publisher actions and being one of the most prominent video game reviewers to highlight Konami's unfair business practices, Jim Sterling is my absolute top pick for best reviewer. He not only researches his subjects thoroughly and is honest to a point where most others would balk, but he's also willing to look out for the general public and game company employees, such as Hideo Kojima of *Metal Gear*.
He is without a doubt an egotistical yet forward-thinking person who fights bad games simply because of how much he *loves* good ones. If there's anyone who deserves to be on this list, it's Jim Sterling.
Absolutely love his taste and sense of humor. His videos never get "too weird," and they never get stupid. You get a good sense of the atmosphere of a game, and when he loves a game, you can feel it through him.
His videos are a bit long, but I am glad they are.
Honest, British, clever - what's not to love?
The Spoony One is probably the only game reviewer that is both funny and entertaining. All of his videos are funny as hell. If anyone is reading this right now, please go and watch his Ultima retrospective - I think it is one of the best videos he has done.
Full reviews done by PJ are entertaining, and his genuine frustration with a lot of the junk out there comes through in humorous ways (having PeanutButterGamer scare the pee out of him during a Pocky & Rocky review was really funny). Unfortunately, he wastes a lot of time on Monster Hunter and Pokémon when there are tons of other games that would be fun to watch him review.
On the positive side, he tagged Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde (possibly the most impossible game in existence on the old NES) and Hydlide (AUGH!) as two of the worst games in existence. He's also not afraid to point out when a game sucks despite the hype and doesn't need scads of scatological references to make his point.
One of the only honest reviewers ever and gaming's greatest hope at future quality control. Simply hilarious, entertaining, honest, and unbound by bias. He understands the gaming industry's best and worst aspects, and his thumbs-up/thumbs-down system, as we all know, is tried, true, and usually faultless.
The only one close to him is Joe. Well worth a watch.
I appreciate genuine people. Mack is genuine people.
Should be higher on this list. He's honestly one of my favorites!
He's not as good as the AVGN because the Nerd did a better job, but he's a good reviewer.
This man is never afraid to go against the mainstream opinion and is exceptionally good at explaining why and how. He is one of the few reviewers out there who talks about any little thing he can find, with little care about how long it may take.
At the end of any of his videos, even if you disagree, you will know where he's coming from, guaranteed.
Articulate and in-depth critiques about game design.
It's disgraceful that MatthewMatosis is this low, yet mouth-breathers like Angry Joe are at the top.
While he does not possess as much comedy as AVGN, he is still funny, and he does very well at analyzing games such as the terrible Bubsy 3D.
I know everyone gives him a hard time and accuses him of copying AVGN, and for the most part, this is true. However, he's still funny and at least tries to go in his own direction and not just copy the sensation that is AVGN.
