Top 10 Biggest Video Game Controversies of All Time

I present you this list: Top Ten Video Game Controversies.

The Top Ten
  1. Gore and violence in Mortal Kombat

I think the other ones are tougher controversies, though.

This was the first real instance of gore in a video game.

    Fatalities, that's why it's controversial.

  2. Hot Coffee mod in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

They realize it was a mod, right? You have to actually hack the game to get it.

Is "hot coffee" slang for something? It doesn't sound inappropriate to me.

Graphic sexual content, that's all I have to say.

  3. No Russian mission in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Right. Let's all remember the most controversial mission in the game, the plot-setting one the game allows you to skip, and where killing Russians is optional. Get the media.

You kill a lot of innocent people in the airport. Now, isn't that terrorism?

When I was little, I thought I would find this mission to be fun, mowing down random people.

  4. Rape and racism in Custer's Revenge

Oh boy, I suggest you watch Angry Video Game Nerd's review.

  5. Level violence in Grand Theft Auto series

Because it's called Grand Theft Auto, not Grand Pink Fluffy Unicorns Dancing on Rainbows Auto. As much as I don't like Grand Theft Auto, it's pretty obvious from the title that there's violence in it.

  6. Censorship in South Park: The Stick of Truth

Of course, South Park will be here. There was censorship in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. It is censored on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, but the PC version remains unaffected.

  7. Extreme violence in Manhunt

This game shows realistic and extreme violence. Rockstar is such a daring company.

That's why the Manhunt games are among my favorites.

  8. Killing African people in Resident Evil 5

  9. Hatred trailer controversy

Ever heard about this game? This game is extremely violent. Go watch the trailer for yourself if you want to. I think this game will get an adult rating.

This game should be No. 1. Extra Credits literally did an episode about it. It's THAT controversial.

It looks like something a school shooter would play.

  10. Motorized violence in Carmageddon

Where do I start with this? Okay... What you have to do is drive a car and kill some people, and yes, there's gore.

  11. The Newcomers
  12. ?

    Gamergate

  13. ?

Junko's corpse being used to impregnate somebody in Danganronpa

  14. The Contenders
  15. Swastika/Peace symbol dungeon design in The Legend of Zelda

Even though it was intended to be an innocent reference to good luck, it turned out to backfire in America.

While it looks like a swastika, it's actually the symbol Manji, which means good fortune.

They thought it was a Nazi sign.

  16. Nintendo's copyright strike on the fan-made Metroid II remake

Easily at least one of the top six best Metroid games ever.

  17. Elise kisses Sonic in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)

  18. Nazi content in Wolfenstein 3D

  19. Cyberpunk 2077 being released with many glitches

  20. E.T. cartridges buried in landfill

  21. Lammy going to hell in Stage 6 of Um Jammer Lammy

  22. Genocide Run in Undertale

The fanbase got pissed at this.

Ah, this was the worst ending of the two, but the Sans fight was kinda cool.

  23. CD price fixing controversy

  24. Donkey Kong 64 says "One hell of a guy"

  25. Pokémon Go accused of being a government surveillance tool

  26. Alphys/Amalgamates shipping controversy from Undertale

  27. Doom and the Columbine massacre

  28. Crazy Bus soundtrack

  29. Scarface dialogues
