Top 10 Best Metal Songs of 2025

Here you can vote for the best metal songs released this year. The year has just started, and it's already strong in terms of releases and musical variety within the metal genre.
The Top Ten
Too Late for Goodbyes - Harakiri for the Sky

A haunting wall of sound, melancholic melodies, desperate vocals, and an emotional message to convey - it is the tormented poetry of Harakiri for the Sky, once again proving their legacy in post-black metal.

This song is impressive. Like the rest of the album, it must be experienced to fully understand its depth, as I can't find the right words to describe it properly. By far the best song of the year so far.

Wierszalin IV - Patriarkh

A folk-infused atmospheric black metal track unfolding with rare majesty. Everything is on point, and the production is flawless.

This band has something unique to offer in terms of innovation.

The S**t Ov God - Behemoth

The title (and part of the lyrics) are undoubtedly edgy and overdone, but musically, Behemoth demonstrates further artistic growth by slowing the tempo and adding symphonic influences.

This track has an amazing, catchy groove. It doesn't reach the heights of Behemoth's best work, but it's surely a well-written song.

VI. Shapeshifter - Enterprise Earth

Enterprise Earth seems to make a comeback at the beginning of every year. This time, they chose to release an old-school deathcore EP, which I found to be less convincing than their peak work.

This track, however, is an exception. Here, tradition is well-blended with distinguishable EE traits (use of clean vocals, atmosphere), crafting a dark and genuinely heavy track. Really good song.

Magnolia - Deafheaven

An unexpected return to black metal influences for Deafheaven, leaving listeners curious about the new album.

On the other hand, this track lacks everything that made Deafheaven unique in the first place, adapting its style to a more traditional black metal sound. It's good - not their best - but still a very solid black metal song.

Amphibians - Septicflesh
Duél - Jinjer

Jinjer released their last record in 2020, and this song seems to further explore the musical direction of that album - fewer wrathful metalcore sections and more progressive and unusual melodies.

The rhythmic section is dynamic and impressive, constantly changing without losing its unity. The vocals are amazing as usual, confirming this band's ability to maintain consistency.

Hymns in Dissonance - Whitechapel

It's been some time since Whitechapel announced their return to heavier horizons, as shown in the two singles released so far. This one, though, is even more focused and functional than "A Visceral Retch," which I found to be too cliché.

This track definitely draws inspiration from old-school deathcore but elevates it to a new level of heaviness, crafting a menacing powerhouse of a song.

Snowlover - Unprocessed

Unprocessed is one of the most promising modern metal bands, constantly experimenting with new sounds.

This track is brief, groovy, and harsh at the same time. It definitely leaves a lasting impression after listening.

Silver Swarm - Thornhill

Moving on the borderline between rock and metal, Thornhill is evolving its signature sound into something new and refreshing.

Electronic rock, alternative, and metalcore elements blend to create a strong track, leaving high expectations for their upcoming album.

The Contenders
Heden - Amenra

A really slow-burning song with an atmospheric, ritualistic intro.

Unfortunately, it is not particularly memorable in the second half of its runtime. Good track nonetheless.

No Loss, No Love - Spiritbox
