Only because "300" is the greatest cinematographical work of art in human history other then that the 1990s is overall the best.

The 90s were by far the best decade not just for movies, but for series as well. People seem to forget The

Sopranos, The Wire, Band of

Brothers, Seinfeld, Friends, Malcolm in the Middle, The X-Files, Sex and the City, Twin Peaks, etc...

As for movies, the first ones that pop up are Pulp Fiction, Shawshank Redemption, Fargo, Forrest Gump, Good Fellas, Casino, Big Lebowski, Philadelphia, Titanic, Fight Club, Silence of the Lambs, American Beauty, Boys Don't Cry, BraveHeart, Good Will Hunting, The Usual Suspects, Schindler's List, American Pie... all of the standard 90s masterpieces... But do not forget the influence of other 90s movies like LA Confidential, Terminator 2, A Bronx Tail, Clerks, Reservoir Dogs, Unforgiven, Speed, Half-Baked, Groundhog Day, Friday, Basic Instinct, Kids, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Natural Born Killers, The 5th Element, Magnolia, Dumb and Dumber, The Matrix, The Truman Show, Seven, Saving Private Ryan, As Good as it Gets, Falling Down, Trainspotting, White Men Can't Jump, American History X, Leon, Independence day, Men In Black, The Sixth Sense, Boyz In The Hood, True Romance, Heat, Carlito's Way, etc., and the list can go on and on because the only thing stopping more movies from making it to the list is the fact that a list has to end at some point.

The 90s was the true epiphany of cinematography.

I truely hope it will be matched in the future. The 2000s were close, but its been downhill ever since.

Come on! 1980s were the perfect decade for horror movies! Some of the most well known horror movies (A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Hellraiser) etc. were released in the 80s!

This was the greatest era for movies, period. Only era that comes close is the 2000's but the 80's had the most memorable and revolutionary movies of all time.

The list goes on and on for the most legendary movies released of all time in this era. The 70's and 90's suck compared to this.

Thor, Aquaman, Deadpool, Suicide Squad, Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy. Pretty much the apex ere for superhero movies.

There use to be a time when I watched 2-3 movies per month, now I might watch 2-3 per year. The previews to the movies aren't that exciting and that's showing the best scenes of a movie. I know that all the good ideas have been taken but some of these film companies don't seem to not try anymore. They are just looking to make a quick buck.

Horror, suspense, science fiction and almost anything superhero has saved this decade from total ruin. Comedies aren't that funny and drama's get too serious, sometimes hard to understand. I would rank the decade tied for 6th with the 1950's.

90's? Look at the best pictures from the 70's The French Connection, The Godfather, The Godfather Part II, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Rocky, Annie Hall, The Deer Hunter, Kramer vs Kramer. Not to mention the masterpieces that did not win best picture like A Clockwork Orange, Five Easy Pieces, Cabaret, The Exorcist, Chinatown, Lenny, Dog Day Afternoon, Jaws, Star Wars, Heaven Can Wait, All That Jazz, Apocalypse Now. Vote up 70's! I am not saying the 90's had bad movies but the 70's just beats it by far.

Godfather, the filming of airplane ( I still count it), alien, star wars, jaws, blazing saddles, Willy wonka, clockwork Orange, taxi driver, the Exorcist, rocky, close encounters of the third kind, and monty python and the holy grail to name a few.

The British Invasion wasn't just confined to Beatlemania. There was also a high number of British films out this decade.Among others there were Sean Connery's James Bond series, David Lean's Lawrence of Arabia and Dr Zhivago, the Carry On... films (a series of comedy movies that parodied various genres) various historical dramas about the British Monarchy such as Becket and A Man for All Seasons, Kitchen sink realism dramas like Kes and a little known British musical called Oliver!

Good, bad and ugly, 2001: Space Odyssey, Psycho, Paths of Glory, the Apartment, Spartacus, Sound of Music, Dr. No, so many greats this decade. So much technological advancement as well

Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Singing in the Rain, Peter Pan, Lady & the Tramp, The Bad Seed, The Shaggy Dog and Sleeping Beauty!

'40s films just ooze atmosphere. The Maltese Falcon and Notorious are two more excellent movies from that decade.

Pinocchio and Fantasia are both peak cinema.

I love the 30's! It was so laid back, back then. But also quite sad with the Great Depression and all. But it has one of my favorite films in it! JewEL ROBBERY! X3 It stars Kay Francis.

So many awesome black and white film noirs from this decade.

Universal monster movies are the best!
