Top 10 Best Sports Movies of All Time

These are the movies that made us want to suit up and play as soon as we came out of the theater. Some make you laugh, and some make you cry. But they all make you wish that you could be Rudy Ruettiger, Crash Davis, or Roy Hobbs... at least for a little while.
The Top Ten
1 Rocky

Rocky is the best sports movie of all time. This is mainly because it is so relatable to real-life situations. The way Sylvester Stallone brought Rocky to life was really incredible, so Rocky deserves to be at the top.

Stallone's performance is mesmerizing. The underdog plot has turned this movie into a classic and the best sports film of all time.

The Rocky franchise is excellent, with the exception of Rocky V. Boxing movies, in general, are better choreographed than other sports movies.

2 Remember the Titans

The topic of this movie goes far beyond just a football team trying to win the Virginia State Championship.

If not already, it will be a classic.

Some silly mistakes, but otherwise an enjoyable and meaningful movie.

3 Rudy

Inspirational and heartwarming film with literally one of the greatest scores ever made. Rudy beats out every movie on here.

Without a doubt, the best movie I have ever seen! I have seen it 60 times. It never gets old and always makes me cry.

The most inspirational sports movie of all time. It's crazy that it's not on every top 10 list of best sports movies.

4 A League Of Their Own
5 The Sandlot

The baseball movie with the dog, I like this movie.

Funny and it is about my favorite sport, but Sandlot 3 was super sad.

Let's talk about how Remember the Titans is higher than this movie, the GOAT sports movie.

6 Field of Dreams

Love this movie! I have a soft spot in my heart for it, as I used to live in Chisholm, Minnesota, and knew people who knew Moonlight Graham. Costner is good as always, but I thought Ray Liotta and James Earl Jones made this movie. Amy Madigan and Timothy Busfield were good, too.

Wow! Number 10? Happy Gilmore is supposed to be a better movie than this? Shame! Rocky and Titans should be right below this one.

"If you build it, he will come." It's been a long time since I last saw this movie, but I can't forget that line.

7 Caddyshack

"Hey everybody! We're all gonna get laid!"

8 Raging Bull

This is one of the best films ever and should be at least in the top three, if not number one. It's a better film than Rocky, but not as enjoyable. Additionally, it's one of the best-directed movies ever, and Robert De Niro's performance is the best acting performance since Marlon Brando in The Godfather.

Why isn't Raging Bull in the top ten? It should be number one. Robert De Niro is excellent in this movie, and it tells the story of Jake LaMotta very well. This is by far the best sports movie. If this isn't in the top ten, then some people making these lists must be morons.

9 Moneyball
10 The Karate Kid

Karate Kid is definitely probably the best movie I've ever seen. I mean, when Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence fight, it's incredible. My favorite character is probably Mr. Miyagi, though.

Better than the reboot by a long shot, as is always the case in my humble opinion.

This movie has aged so well and always will.

The Contenders
11 Rocky IV

This is one of the best movies ever! Drago is the best villain ever. He literally killed Apollo with a boxing glove. Rocky was furious at Drago, so he wanted to fight him. People told him not to fight Drago because he killed Apollo, but Rocky never listened. He produced the greatest training montage ever, a montage that was even better than the one in the first movie.

Hearts on Fire is a classic that is music to my ears. Fourth-best movie ever. First-best sports movie.

This film is my favorite of all time, so action-packed and gets you patriotic for the West, when people could be proud of where they came from.

12 The Longest Yard
13 The Natural
14 Rocky III

Not as great as IV, but still good.

15 Bull Durham

Wow. Number 14? You people don't know what a sports movie is.

16 Hoosiers

Everything about this movie is perfect. The subject matter is phenomenal, and the cast is magnificent. It's one of those movies you just want to watch over and over again.

I don't care much for basketball, but Gene Hackman is brilliant in this movie, and it always keeps me captivated.

I'm not a huge basketball fan either, but Hackman is brilliant, along with Barbara Hershey and Dennis Hopper. The story is also great.

17 Space Jam

Michael is okay at being an actor. I'm not crazy about his acting. But I will admit Looney Tunes and Warner Bros. did make a classic kids and adults will love forever.

18 Happy Gilmore

Adam Sandler needs to make more movies like this!

Nice movie, full family entertainment, barring a couple of scenes that I censor, of course.

19 The Blind Side

A great heartwarming story even if the adaptation was not entirely factual.

At the end of the day, it's a true story of a lost child with no future other than to end up dead or in prison, taken in by a caring and loving family that allowed him to overcome the odds and grow up to become an NFL professional athlete with a Super Bowl Championship. Something only attainable in people's dreams.

This and Hoosiers are my two favorite sports movies. I wanted to cry at some points of this movie. It's a great movie based on a touching story.

20 Brian's Song

If you don't cry during this movie, you are not human. A total tear-jerker.

21 Talladega Nights

Honestly, really hilarious. If you ain't first, you're last!

22 Slap Shot

The Hanson brothers are completely out there.

23 Million Dollar Baby
24 Bloodsport
25 Friday Night Lights
