Top 10 Best Animated Movies of 2014

The Top Ten
  1. Big Hero 6

I'm not a fan of animated movies anymore, but I watched this movie with my family, and I was so surprised by how much I liked it. Big Hero 6 is not only better than The LEGO Movie in my opinion (even though I liked The LEGO Movie), but it's the best Disney film I've seen since The Incredibles.

I love this movie so much, and it is one of the best movies of 2014. This movie is also better than Mulan and Meet the Robinsons because Mulan and Meet the Robinsons suck and are both bad Disney movies.

Certainly deserves the top spot! This movie was just mind-blowing and honestly my favorite non-Pixar animated Disney movie. It's very colorful, enjoyable, and emotional. No surprise this one is number one.

  2. The LEGO Movie

I hate how the Academy didn't even give this a nomination for Best Animated Feature. This was the biggest mistake by the Academy in history.

No question. It was so surprising! I only wish they had gotten an actual cameo from the original BIONICLE characters. Emmet and Wyldstyle could have met the Toa Mata! Not just showcased an image of them.

Big Hero 6 is a one-time watch, but this one you can watch a million times and it's still funny.

  3. How to Train Your Dragon 2

If you had asked me last year, I'd probably have said Penguins of Madagascar. Maybe even The Nut Job (I know people hate it, but I enjoy it a lot). However, P.O.M. lost my vote when I found out they didn't include He Is Dave in the movie. How to Train Your Dragon 2 is just awesome. It completely outdoes How to Train Your Dragon.

I recall the animation being spectacular, the story grand, the characters emotionally investing, and more. The only con is the pretty weak villain. I didn't gain much from him. This totally outdoes Shrek 2, Kung Fu Panda 2, and Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. And that's saying something since I really like all of them (except for M.E.2A., since I'm not a fan of the Madagascar series). This is the Toy Story 3 of DreamWorks. I strongly recommend it.

  4. The Book of Life

My Spanish teacher showed this movie to me and my class the other day after our midterm since it was almost Halloween and Día de los Muertos. I gotta say, I really enjoyed this movie! To think that the people behind the negatively panned Free Birds made this one-of-a-kind masterpiece!

Each and every song they made covers of for the soundtrack was splendid. The animation is outstanding, and I loved each of the character designs - my favorites being Xibalba and La Muerte. The characters were all so interesting and fun to watch! This is definitely going on any remix I make related to a best movies list! I love this movie so much, I'm practically obsessed with it now! What an awesome film.

  5. Mr. Peabody & Sherman

Pretty cool movie, but overall, I thought it was slightly forgettable.

  6. Rio 2

I like Rio 2 but not as much as How to Train Your Dragon 2.

  7. Song of the Sea

This was snubbed at the Academy Awards. Beautiful animation, a great story, solid characters, and a very creative premise. Damn you, Big Hero 6, and your overrated marketability.

This should be WAY higher on the list. Song of the Sea is a rare hand-drawn gem made by an Irish studio. If you love Studio Ghibli, this is the PERFECT movie for you.

I'm not kidding, go watch it. It's way better than Frozen.

You should watch this! It is amazing! I loved it so much!

  8. My Little Pony: Rainbow Rocks

I loved this film. It wasn't as good as the first film, but I still loved it. The best part was the Snips and Snails rap scene. That was awesome. The LEGO Movie sucked. It was so stupid. Why do so many people love it?

I LOVE this movie! It deserves to be on top. The songs are great because the characters don't just sing randomly. They plan it!

  9. The Tale of Princess Kaguya

A gorgeously animated film based on the Japanese folk tale, "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter." It has plenty of heart and warmth, with a strong message.

  10. The Boxtrolls

A great movie. I really loved it.

  11. The Newcomers
  12. ?

    Maya the Bee Movie

  13. ?

    Moomins on the Riviera

  14. The Contenders
  15. Penguins of Madagascar: Operation Special Delivery

  16. Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return

  17. The Nut Job

I have only watched a small portion of it, but it was quite forgettable.

  18. Penguins of Madagascar

  19. Planes: Fire and Rescue

I love this movie so much, just like the first film. The Planes franchise is way better than Mulan and Toy Story 1. These Planes movies are awesome, like the Cars movies, but different from them, to be honest. Dusty is my usual favorite character in the Planes franchise. He is awesome and cute.

I watched it once, but I need to watch it again to see what I think of it.

A very good movie. I really loved it.

  20. Batman: Assault On Arkham

  21. El Americano: The Movie

  22. Resident Evil: Damnation

  23. Son of Batman

  24. Team Hot Wheels: The Origin of Awesome

  25. House of Magic
