Top 10 Biggest Problems with The Super Mario Bros. Movie
-
Peach is way out of character
In the movie, it's implied that Peach mastered the course she showed Mario with no trouble. It would have been better if she revealed she had to work hard to be as skillful as she is now, but the movie makes her perfect. I did like the backstory they gave Peach, though. It's cute.

Not enough fights
-
Not enough funny lines
I did not laugh one time in this movie, I think.
-
Peach is overpowered
She is supposed to be a damsel in distress, not this girlboss the movie portrayed her as.
-
No solid plot
They jump from one theme to another, such as Mario Kart and getting swallowed by a Maw-Ray. I don't even remember what else. The plot was bland!
-
It's too short
Why did they make the movie so short? Not only does it not have an interesting enough plot, they rushed everything.
-
The dog scene
It wasn't funny, and the movie would have been better without it.
-
No reaction to the chaos at the end
Spoiler alert. At the end of the movie, Mario, his friends, and enemies get violently warped to New York City. Mario essentially let a nuke explode in there, but Mario gets nothing but praise? They should have thought about the plot more carefully.
-
Barely any interaction with Luigi
I liked the scenes with Luigi the most. I get that he was kidnapped, but I would have liked to see more scenes of characters talking to him instead of that annoying dog scene that doesn't feel like it belongs in a Mario movie at all.
-
It's too bland
The plot is not really that interesting. What more can I say? I put this film in the category of movies that are nice to look at but have a boring or bad plot. Did Illumination believe this movie is going to succeed just because it has "Mario" slapped on it? Well, they were right.
