1. Thunderbolts*

   

   Honestly, when it comes to movies in 2025, this year was a huge letdown. Don't get me wrong. I actually enjoyed Thunderbolts, but let's be real. The title was all wrong from the start. It should have been simply called New Avengers. No need for Thunderbolts at all.

   No good movies this year. Yeah, sure, this was a fun superhero movie. You've seen one, you've seen them all.

   Marvel has been getting better.

2. A Minecraft Movie

   

   This was a pretty cool movie overall. I thought it was going to be really stupid, which it was, but in a good way. It was really nice.

   Chicken Jockey! For the most part, this was a harmless and fun movie that would probably be best to watch with a friend.

   The villagers and Minecraft brought to life. I'm a big fan of Minecraft.

   I wish I could go into the game.

3. Sinners

   

   I appreciate the storytelling in this movie, particularly within the horror genre. This film has interesting symbolism and messaging regarding vampirism and Black complexities. The character subplots are engaging, and it has a great blues soundtrack. It's a layered film, and I recommend it.

   Great original film. Not enough of those in Hollywood anymore. Too many IPs, remakes, and sequels nowadays.

   Not just the best of 2025, but possibly of all time.

4. Superman

   

   It's been so long since I've seen a movie where I walk out of the theater and just can't stop thinking about it.

   Superman was genuinely one of the greatest pieces of fiction I've seen. I've never felt so inspired by a single person. The scene where he saves the woman from a falling building while she was driving away, and when she looks back you can see him rising from the dust, might be my favorite scene of all time.

   And the music was great as well.

   This, I can agree, is one of the best.

   This movie is amazing, definitely one of the best DC movies we've seen in a while.

5. KPop Demon Hunters

   

   I love this because it shows Sony Animations actually knows how to write women. Instead of making them all perfect and tough with no past, no trauma, no flaws, and no relatability, the very first scene shows them chugging an enormous amount of food, burping, being forgetful and late, and doing all the things normal people do.

   And HUNTRIX's male competition isn't useless with only a bit part. Instead, they're skilled and good at their job, so the ladies actually have to put up a fight and make an effort to obliterate them like they do with their kimbap.

   This was amazing. It got released in theaters later on because it was so successful. I think we can all agree with its success.

6. Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning

   

   What a completion. Cruise has done it again. I liked Maverick better, but this cared for the people who had been part of the series (Maverick did too with Iceman), pulled all loose strings, and tied them together with a record-breaking stunt by Tom Cruise that saved the world quietly, and so all were happy.

   The only movie I'd go to the theatre to see in this bunch. Tom never disappoints!

   A great and wonderful addition to the Mission: Impossible franchise.

7. Lilo & Stitch

   

   Definitely one of the best live-action movies that Disney has put out in a long time!

8. The Fantastic Four: First Steps

   

   This movie was actually fantastic. I really loved the family dynamic. I think they portrayed that very well with how the characters worked together and talked to each other.

   This was definitely a step up from the other Fantastic Four movies, especially the 2015 one.

   A lot of truly fantastic things about this movie, especially Galactus. Aye!

   So good. Love the cast.

13. How to Train Your Dragon

    

    I was never really a fan of How to Train Your Dragon, but it was amazing watching this in the theater. Now, I love the franchise. Disney should take notes!

    No matter what, How to Train Your Dragon is a beautiful statement about working with creatures rather than killing them. I just love the relationship between dragon and rider.

    This film was so good! It was seriously emotional watching it at parts. The nostalgia was real.

14. Captain America: Brave New World

    

    Really good story, but disharmony ahead. I don't really know why, but I wish they had followed the natural storyline of Cap and Bucky's friendship more than the glimpse they did.

    Surprising.

    Cool.

    Underrated.

15. Zootopia 2

    

    It's one of the highest-grossing films in theaters. I'd like to say it was a success.

16. F1: The Movie

    

    Great summer blockbuster film.

    I watched it in 4DX, and it was fantastic!

    One of the best movies to come out this year.

17. Paddington in Peru

    

    I loved this movie. It was enjoyable from start to finish.

18. Dog Man

    

    It was really cute. Honestly, the best part was with Flippy. Flippy was an admirable character. Besides, the movie itself was pretty funny.

    It kind of makes me wonder why there wasn't a Dog Man movie before.

    This movie is so cute and funny.

    Not as good as The Wild Robot (yes, I know that The Wild Robot was released in 2024), but still worth mentioning.

    One of the only good movies that came out this year. DreamWorks is REALLY keeping the animation industry alive, honestly.

19. Elio

    

    It was a great movie.

    It makes you feel like you're one of many beings in the universe.

    Great movie.

    I love the story behind it.

20. Jurassic World: Rebirth

    

    This movie was awesome. It's really just a good, fun watch, and I don't get why people love to hate on it.

    The CGI was really good, and they did more work on making the dinosaurs accurate to real life. The movie did feel rushed through, and it was also very obvious which characters were going to die.

    But I really had fun watching this movie, and I think it's a great watch.

    I'm not a huge fan of the Jurassic World movies, but I've got to admit this was a really cool movie. The characters getting stranded on Jurassic World and getting hunted by a mutant dinosaur, and the plot twists at the end, were amazing.
