Top 10 Most Oversaturated Movie Franchises

These are movie franchises that get way more movies than they deserve and get too much for what they're worth.
The Top Ten
Star Wars

Ugh! Stop overhyping this series already!

Fight with me all you want, but I think this series should have just stayed as a trilogy. If so, I'd consider it one of the best movie trilogies of all time. After the first three movies, Star Wars jumped the shark.

The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones were both awful with terrible characters and bad acting. Revenge of the Sith was also pretty mediocre and didn't really do anything special apart from having Anakin be an idiot.

The Force Awakens was overhyped and nothing special either, simply being a clone of A New Hope. I'm sure people hate it when we say this, but we say it because we believe it's lazy writing at its finest. Rogue One was also a boring snorefest that brought nothing special and was only made for those good ol' greenies.

I currently can't stand Star Wars or its fanbase because the fans are brainwashed by their nostalgia. They don't realize that their beloved franchise has turned into a cash cow, so they milk the cow and give the companies a lot of money. Sorry guys, your nostalgia has been trampled.

Transformers

Won't this series just die already? A little birdie told me that we are expecting FOURTEEN MORE MOVIES to come out. Why? We've already sunk to the bottom of the barrel. At this point, you can see how tired the franchise is. Every single one of these movies is literally the exact same thing! Terrible acting, terrible effects, fighting without knowing who is doing what, important scenes in the dark and the rain. Come on! "Age of Extinction" was just awful, and every other movie coming up is going to suck. Hell, some users are planning to BOYCOTT the new "Transformers: The Last Knight" movie coming out this year because it will probably exist just for money purposes.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid

Dog Days was really bad, but this wouldn't have made the list if it wasn't for The Long Haul.

This franchise is really outdated and they're desperately trying to make more money from these pathetic movies. The second one was honestly the only decent movie in the quadrilogy. The rest were horrible!

It's all the same bad luck-type humor, terrible acting, and Greg not having control over his life and complaining about it. Plus, the amount of toilet humor in the most recent pile of trash is astounding. Read the books if you actually want to laugh.

Alvin and the Chipmunks

Damn this series! None of the live-action movies are great. They're horrible with fart jokes and toilet jokes!

If you want a good Chipmunk movie, I suggest the 80's movie, A Chipmunk Adventure. That's a good one, but the live-action movies are bad.

Yes, this is actually a movie series, and it makes you lose all hope for music.

The older movies were a LOT better than the live-action ones they released.

DC Cinematic Universe

None of their movies have been good so far. Man of Steel and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice were both boring as hell snorefests.

I can't stand this portrayal of Superman because there's absolutely no contrast between him and Batman. Batman is also way too brutal here. Batman V Superman was such a mess it was painful.

Suicide Squad is also super overrated. It's painful. Everyone wants Rotten Tomatoes shut down because the critics gave it a fair rating. It was not a good movie. The plot was a hot mess, the effects were awful, and the characters were one-dimensional.

I really hope Wonder Woman and the 2018 Batman movie are both good.

Alpha & Omega
Ice Age

Probably the most milked animated franchise there is. At least other studios managed to stop making more.

I remember when the franchise was good as a standalone film, but when it became a trilogy, that should have been it. While The Meltdown and Dawn of the Dinosaurs at least had some creativity, the rest are just bad!

It even shows that Blue Sky doesn't want to make these anymore, and Fox is just using this as the studio's cash grab now. What pissed me off with the fifth film wasn't just that Blue Sky hit a surprising new low. It was so irritating and idiotic. They even shoved in more pointless characters and added in almost everyone else from the franchise.

The animation was executed well, but its potential was wasted on this deadbeat franchise. Please, if they greenlight a sixth film in the 2020s, leave it out to rust and prove to Fox and Blue Sky that the franchise needs to go before it does even more damage than it has.

Despicable Me

This franchise does not need another installment.

The Fast and the Furious

I gotta say, this is a series that actually gets better with each movie. 8 was the best because of so many twists you weren't really expecting unless you wanted to ruin the movie.

Fast and Furious movies are all the same. There are 9 films, soon to be 10. They say it will end at Fast and Furious 10, but we all know it won't. Each film is a cash grab, and they know it.

I don't care how praised this series is. It's rubbish.

Fifty Shades of Grey

Please stop making these movies. We are all sick of them because each and every one was complete garbage.

Fifty Shades of Black and Fifty Shades Darker were both considered cinematic trash, and the upcoming Fifty Shades Freed is definitely going to be garbage. Stop torturing us with these movies, guys.

These two actors are so desperate for fame. I still don't know their full names.

This franchise needs to stop. We already had 2 movies, and now they're creating a 3rd movie.

The Newcomers

? Home Alone
? The Swan Princess
The Contenders
Pirates of the Caribbean

The first one was okay, but the rest were rubbish!

I'm pretty sure this is ending... right?

Child's Play
The Smurfs

Live-action or animated, this movie series is mediocre at best. The movies are usually made to sell toys or promote musical artists like Britney Spears and Meghan Trainor.

Seriously, name one good thing about The Smurfs 2 and I will give you a cookie.

Die Hard

It should have been made a trilogy, but they made 5 films, the last 2 being super bad.

Friday the 13th
The Land Before Time

This children's movie series literally has fourteen sequels. You heard me right. Fourteen sequels!

The most recent one was released last year. Stop making these sequels already! No one even likes them and it's getting old really fast.

I watched and liked all 13 movies except the 14th, but honestly, I kind of agree. They should stop making so many sequels. Most people won't even bother to watch them anyway.

So many sequels. I love the first one, but then way too many came in. Even the narrator sounds bored, knowing that there are only a few kids still watching.

Twilight

It's been years and it has a saga-like series. I think it makes you think vampires are nice. A girl with no personality is dating a vampire and it became iconic.

Do I need to say anything at all other than "It's Twilight," or can we just move on with our lives?

Vampires are said to be pure evil, blood-sucking immortal creatures of the night. This movie series should not have been made.

Minions

I remember when it was everywhere on TV and the movie was a cheap copy of the Rabbids.

Despicable Me is also getting a third sequel. I wonder if they will destroy the series even more.

Divergent

Yet another great book series that got turned into a terrible movie series. These movies are just really boring and uninteresting.

Why do they keep trying with this franchise of movies? Allegiant was considered one of the worst movies of 2016. They're trying too hard to get money with this series.

The series only has 3 movies, and they ended. I did like the first 2 films, but the 3rd film should have been the conclusion instead of a two-parter.

They ended it after Allegiant. Thank God for that.

Harry Potter

8 Harry Potter films are fine, but 5 Fantastic Beasts films are pushing it.

Highly overrated and aimed at children!

5 Fantastic Beasts movies? Really?

Marvel Cinematic Universe

If we are putting the Star Wars series on this list, then the Marvel Universe deserves a spot here as well. It's a straight cash cow with lazy writing, where every movie feels like the exact same movie with the exact same plot. The only good movies in this universe are the original Iron Man, The Winter Soldier, and The Avengers. Civil War was okay, and the rest were all pretty mediocre.

Most overrated by far. By no means "the best movies of all time."

Why isn't this higher on the list?

Spider Man

The first two films are great. Three was decent. The Amazing Spider-Man 1 is excellent. TASM2 is decent. Homecoming and Far From Home are good. Spider-Verse is okay. Venom sucked.

The Raimi and Webb films were fine, but now they're churning out so many Spider-Man films. Did we really need or want Sony's crappy universe?

How many TV seasons does it have? And Spider-Man got obnoxious here. It should've been a movie-only series.

Cars

Did it really need a sequel? And now planes?

Why does this franchise even exist?

Frozen

I thought the first movie was actually pretty good, but the amount of merchandise and the amount of spinoff clips and movies this is getting is uncalled for.

Can't we just accept that this movie came out in 2013 and nobody really cares about it anymore?

I really, really like the movie. Unfortunately, it turned into a marketing tool, which is sad.

Unfortunately, 6-10 year old girls will not stop talking about this movie.
