Without a doubt, the saddest death in any movie, Disney or not. Simba lost his father at a young age and was forced to run away because of it. Disney really thought Mufasa's death through too well.

Simba lost him at a young age, and Simba then blames himself. I feel like this makes it worse.

The Lion King is my favorite Disney movie. This is the saddest death! Scar deserved to die!

Bing Bong (Inside Out)

What makes Bing Bong's death so emotional is that he knowingly sacrificed himself to make sure the person he cared most about could experience happiness again.

He's my second favorite character (after Sadness). I love that he cares for Riley so much to give himself up.

As an unemotional 18-year-old boy, even I had to hold back my tears during this scene.

Ellie (Up)

What made it hard was watching her entire life with Carl and how happy she made him. Trying to stay strong until the very end.

She died immediately after she failed to have a baby. Dang, talk about tugging your heartstrings.

We rarely know her, but I loved her personality.

Bambi's Mother (Bambi)

This one was way sadder than Mufasa's death (which wasn't sad at all)!

When mothers die, you turn into a crying machine.

Watched the movie once. Never again.

Ray (The Princess and the Frog)

Ray is my favorite character. He is just so funny and loving. I'm glad he is with Evangeline.

Ray was so funny and kind-hearted.

It was so sad. I cried. I'm so sad now.

Tadashi (Big Hero 6) Tadashi Hamada is a fictional character who appears in Walt Disney Animation Studios' 54th animated feature, Big Hero 6. The film is inspired by a Marvel comic book of the same name.

This was just heartbreaking. I'm almost crying now just thinking of it.

I was bawling my eyes out. He was awesome. He died for no reason. *Sniffed*

Koda's Mother (Brother Bear)
Coral (Finding Nemo)

Sad. What would've been different in Finding Nemo if both Coral and Marlin survived with that egg named 'Nemo'?

Baymax (Big Hero 6) Baymax is a fictional character, a superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics.

This one almost made me want to cry because he just looks so adorable, and he just went away!

Mama Coco (Coco)

The Newcomers

? Old Yeller (Old Yeller)
? Leslie Burke (Bridge to Terabithia)
The Contenders
Sitka (Brother Bear)
Kerchak (Tarzan)
Gramma Tala (Moana)

She influences the whole movie and fuels Moana's need to see the ocean and save her family and her island.

This death made my mom cry and made me cry too, but then she comes back as a spirit manta ray.

Gurgi (The Black Cauldron)

To give up his life for his friends! Oh, I feel this movie is so underrated!

Arlo's Dad (The Good Dinosaur)
Meg (Hercules)
Nuka (The Lion King 2) Nuka was a male lion from Disney's The Lion King II: Simba's Pride. He was a member of the Outsiders and the son of Zira, making him the elder brother of Kovu and Vitani... read more

Nuka wanted to help his mom, and he actually got a hold of Simba's leg, but then Nuka's leg slipped on a log, and he lost hold of Simba's leg.

Nuka got trapped between logs. Simba escaped, and his feet pushed a log that killed Nuka.

Billy Bones (Treasure Planet)
Queen Athena (The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning)

The fact that she died after saving her daughter's life and then tried to recover her artifact made me cry.

Frollo is such a pervert! I'm glad he died!

Willie the Operatic Whale (The Whale Who Wanted to Sing at the Met)

It is terrifying to see someone directly fall into a black hole.
