Top 10 Saddest Deaths in Marvel Movies

Here are the top ten deaths in Marvel movies, both superhero and non-superhero. Warning: spoilers ahead!
The Top Ten
Yondu Udonta (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2) Yondu Udonta, or simply Yondu, is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he is portrayed by Michael Rooker.

I'd say this is the saddest death if you know the movie's situation very well. It's a father-and-son moment, with Yondu apologizing to Quill and showing deep regret for what he did. Then the orchestra perfects this scene. The best part is when Yondu pats Quill's cheek slowly and dies while Quill cries. Yondu makes the ultimate sacrifice. Very heart-shattering moment. Great job, Gunn.

Yondu's death was super sad. He may not have been the perfect father, but he truly loved Peter. He sacrificed himself to save Peter's life. He was a better father than Ego ever was because at least he didn't try to destroy everything.

Wolverine (Logan) Wolverine is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, commonly associated with the X-Men. His powers and abilities include a healing factor and his signature adamantium claws and adamantium skeleton.

I'd go as far as to say this is the saddest death in movie history. I remember after seeing Logan's death in the theater, I walked back to my truck and started full-on sobbing, and I'm a grown man. I had seen one of my childhood icons die a hero's death, and it served as a reminder that I was growing up.

This, in my opinion, is the saddest superhero death I've ever seen. Unlike most superhero movies, our hero stays dead - no sign of him coming back. Logan is the most beautiful movie I've ever seen and had a beautiful ending for the X-Men, Logan, and Charles Xavier. Everyone.

"There are no more guns in the valley."

Professor X (Logan) Professor Charles Francis Xavier is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics and is the founder and leader of the X-Men.

The same as Wolverine, he was a character long remembered throughout the films, and most of us knew his time had to come. But the way Marvel did it was very sad.

Odin (Thor: Ragnarok) Odin Borson is a fictional character appearing in the American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was the former King of Asgard, protector of the Nine Realms, father of Hela and Thor, the adoptive father of Loki, husband of Frigga, and was known as the "God of War and Wisdom". Gwen Stacy (The Amazing Spider-Man 2) Gwendolyne Maxine "Gwen" Stacy is a fictional character who appears in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, usually as a supporting character in those featuring Spider-Man.

I couldn't stop crying when Gwen died, and when I saw Peter try to release the web, it was too late because her skull cracked on the ground.

I'm just imagining Spider-Gwen's reaction when seeing herself die.

Loki (Avengers: Infinity War) Loki Laufeyson, or Loki Odinson, is a fictional character appearing in the American comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is the adoptive brother and archenemy of Thor, and is known as the "God of Mischief". In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the character has been portrayed by Tom Hiddleston.

At first, I wasn't too emotional about Loki's death. But after watching more movies with him in it, I started to feel the loss. Loki is such a charismatic and complex character. RIP God of Mischief, you will always be my favorite Marvel character.

Loki is one of my favorite Marvel characters, so when I saw him die, I thought he was faking it again. But this time, he actually died. I cried.

Ummm, this should be number one. It makes me cry to think about, but maybe that's just because I'm a huge Loki stan. But I laughed when I saw Odin's death was listed before Loki's, like Odin was a jerk.

Quicksilver (Avengers: Age of Ultron) Quicksilver is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character first appeared in the comic book X-Men #4 and was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

He was my favorite character along with Scarlet Witch. It made me so sad watching Wanda react and watching Pietro die. It will always be the saddest death. ):

I'm not much of a new gen person, but when I saw this death, it was too sad for me.

Spider-Man (Avengers: Infinity War)

This was so sad for me. It wasn't just the fact that he was pleading not to go or that he grabbed onto Tony. It was the fact that he said sorry and felt like he hadn't done enough. (So happy he came back, lol.)

This was the saddest death ever. I am slowly typing this because I have never seen Spider-Man's death, but he is the best character I have ever seen. I felt incredibly sad when I saw him on the list. I was like, Spider-Man dies!?

This is done perfectly, not only because he doesn't want to die, but it reflects the melancholy of the movie, knowing Thanos will win.

Harry Osborn (Spider-Man 3) James Edward Franco is an American actor and filmmaker. His first prominent acting role was the lead character Daniel Desario on the short-lived cult hit television program Freaks and Geeks.
Gamora (Avengers: Infinity War)

I cried for about an hour. Gamora is one of my favorite characters! The fact that Thanos loved her made it even worse. She looked so still when she died too. Ugh, I shall never forgive Thanos for killing so many people. Although, you gotta admit, Star-Lord was hilarious!

This should be higher on the list. It was a really heartbreaking death, and the characters' reactions were done so well. Thanos had to kill someone he loved for the stone, and while I hate him, I sympathized at that moment.

This was the first movie that made me cry. It was so sad, and I imagined all the memories that she and Quill had, which made it even sadder!

The Newcomers

? Wade Wilson / Deadpool (Deadpool 2)
? Aaron Davis (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse)
The Contenders
Black Widow (Avengers: Endgame)

Okay. She deserves to be number one. Tony's death was REALLY SAD, but for me, she was and is my favorite superhero in history! Her death was the worst of anyone's. She didn't have a family until she became part of the Avengers. Clint and his family were her family too, and it was so cute how his kids loved her enough to call her aunt.

When she died, I felt my heart crumble into a billion pieces. She didn't deserve it, and neither did Clint. She was like a sister to him. She was an epic badass! When I realized they were going to Vormir, I felt like shouting at the screen. She deserves to be number one. As sad as Tony's death was, hers was worse.

Cyclops (X-Men: The Last Stand) Cyclops is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics and is a founding member of the X-Men.
Agent Phil Coulson (The Avengers)
Bucky Barnes (Avengers: Infinity War) James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he is portrayed by Sebastian Stan.

Steve lost him for the fourth time, and that just makes it sadder.

Tony Stark (Avengers: Endgame) Iron Man is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, as well as its associated media. The character was created by writer and editor Stan Lee, developed by scripter Larry Lieber, and designed by artists Don Heck and Jack Kirby. He made his first appearance... read more

Okay, so this should be number one. My entire family left the theater sobbing, even my father, and he's a grown man. Tony was a father to Morgan, who was only five years old, and he was basically Peter Parker's father since Peter had no one else. Tony brought the Avengers together and sacrificed himself to save the universe. If this list doesn't have Tony Stark first, it's not accurate.

He should be number one. He isn't my favorite Marvel hero, but goddammit, I would be lying if I said his death didn't shake me. Tears were streaming down my face as I saw the hero I grew up with die, and that didn't happen with the others. Loki? I teared up. Spider-Man? I was upset. But Tony's death hit me harder than those two combined.

Groot (Avengers: Infinity War)
Peggy Carter (Captain America: Civil War) Margaret Elizabeth Carter, most known as Peggy Carter or Agent Carter, is a fictional character appearing in the American comic books published by Marvel Comics. She was one of the most prominent agents of the Strategic Scientific Reserve during and after the Second World War. The character was created... read more

Frigga (Thor: The Dark World)
Ho Yinsen (Iron Man)
Antony (Ant-Man)

This weirdly made me tear up. Not the saddest, but still pretty emotional.

I stepped on an ant after watching this movie, and I started to break down crying. So yeah.

Meredith Quill (Guardians of the Galaxy)
Scarlet Witch (Avengers: Infinity War)

She so deserves to be first. She lost her country, her family, her brother, and then in Infinity War, she lost Vision, whom she had to kill herself. Still not sad enough?

Loki's death is good/sad too, but Scarlet Witch left the most lasting impact. Of all the deaths, she is the most powerful character to ever die. Number two is Ultron, and three is Vision.

Uncle Ben (Spider-Man)
