Best Albums of 2015

The Top Ten
1 To Pimp a Butterfly - Kendrick Lamar

On this project, Kendrick comes up with a masterpiece that is both so obviously hip hop and a completely new sound at the same time. So many things could have gone wrong with this album considering how much experimentation there was, but they didn't.

This is by far the best album of 2015, and most lists I have seen agree. In my opinion, this is easily in the top 5 rap albums of all time as well. Amazing work of art.

Obvious winner, no debate. Old-school organic hip-hop that is politically brilliant and musically.

2 Carrie & Lowell - Sufjan Stevens

One of the most evocative albums of 2015, Carrie & Lowell is absolutely astounding. Echoed by grief, sorrow, and despair, Stevens' latest album is a must-listen for anyone who enjoys electronica or soul music expressed through cynical moments.

9/10 - Superb

One of the best albums of all time.

3 Art Angels - Grimes
4 Blurryface - Twenty One Pilots

Their worst album, but that is still really good for Twenty One Pilots' standards. Easily my favorite album of 2015.

-Someone who hasn't had the time to listen to "To Pimp a Butterfly" yet

This album is not just great music but a story of Tyler battling his insecurities and doubts.

Every song on here blows my mind. They are going to be awesome in concert.

5 The Powers That B - Death Grips
6 Emotion - Carly Rae Jepsen

Emotion is such an amazing album! "Your Type" is one of the best songs of all time, in my opinion.

This deserves to be so much higher! Such an amazing album from an amazing singer!

If this is 4, then Badlands should be 1. Actually, Badlands should be 1 anyways.

7 The Book of Souls - Iron Maiden

This album is really good! Although Slayer is my favorite metal band, I prefer this album over Repentless. Iron Maiden has made another great album!

I am very happy with the top five of this list! (Currently consists of The Book of Souls, Hand. Cannot. Erase, Beyond the Red Mirror, Meliora, and In Times).

Most definitely the best! I got it yesterday on my birthday at Best Buy, the only place in the city that had it.

8 Currents - Tame Impala
9 In Colour - Jamie XX
10 Meliora - Ghost

This is my favorite for sure. The atmosphere and the overall organic sound work splendidly.

The Newcomers

? A Night at the Odeon (Live 1975) - Queen
? Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) - John Williams
The Contenders
11 Dark Before Dawn - Breaking Benjamin
12 I Love You, Honeybear - Father John Misty
13 Every Open Eye - Chvrches
14 Froot - Marina and the Diamonds
15 True Colors - Zedd
16 Astoria - Marianas Trench

As somebody who was introduced to Marianas Trench this year (thanks Mark from Spectrum Pulse), I was compelled to buy this album. Wow, I was impressed and frustrated. How isn't Marianas Trench a bigger band worldwide?

17 Immortalized - Disturbed

"The Sound of Silence" is the MVP from this one.

18 Human - Three Days Grace
19 American Beauty/American Psycho - Fall Out Boy

Honestly, really underrated. I don't care (pun not intended) how much you hate the singles.

My 2 cents on them is that Immortals is the weakest song on the album but not necessarily bad. Centuries is good and has an amazing headbang opportunity but is otherwise not the greatest. Uma Thurman is fun with nonsensical lyrics. But, wow, songs like Novocaine, Irresistible, Jet Pack Blues, and even the title track (which is growing on me the more I listen to it) are all really good in their own ways.

Thanks for reading my pointless review of a 3-year-old album from a band that people say hasn't been good since 2009 (obviously not true, in my opinion).

20 Venom - Bullet for My Valentine
21 Have You in My Wilderness - Julia Holter
22 Blue Neighbourhood - Troye Sivan

This is one of the best albums I have ever listened to. You know it's sometimes impossible to like a whole album, but this one changed that. Every song has its own little thing to love.

The lyrics have improved a lot since his last EP (TRXYE). I'm so happy to be able to be on this journey with him and seeing his album at no.1 in some places.

23 The Epic - Kamasi Washington
24 Vulnicura - Björk

Bjork is truly magnificent. Her instrumentals aren't always perfect, but her powerful and beautiful vocals add a tremendous amount of color and tell stories.

The highest-placed good album on this list is only #19. Smh.

What is up with this site's obsession with manufactured, overproduced pop rock/metalcore?

Should be no. 2 after Carrie & Lowell.

25 Singles - Maroon 5
