Top 10 Best Bands of All Time
Top ten bands of all time. Ok, it can be anything as long as it's a group of people and not a solo singer.
This band is just the greatest of all time! Although they weren't the most talented group ever, they maximized the talent they did have to create something beautiful. John and Paul are one of, if not the best, songwriting duos of all time. They contrasted each other so much, but it didn't stop them from making great collaborations. They were both great as solo artists, but never reached the heights they made as a group. Also, they were the most successful band to transcend the genre of music they started off as. They went from a great "rock band" to an amazing band, period. Lastly, people of all ages enjoy their music, young and old. You can't say that about every band/artist out there. It makes them that much more lovable since more they appeal to a much wider audience.
Beatles? number 1? What? Come on, people. They might be the first on the cradle but, they lack of swinging and they drink milk of grinned rice. They might be the first to create different genre of music but, they are already surpassed by the new generations bands. Even you listen to their songs and compared it to the songs of the 1980's and 1990's, I guess, you will prefer the songs of the new bands than the beatles. The beatles is a legend band. The source of most of the band musicality but, they are already no longer the best band because, their songs are less appreciated, nowadays, than the songs of the new bands. How many songs of the beatles, nowadays, are still being played? I guess, none. Do they still have any revival of their songs played by the new bands? Let me guess, none. So what if they are creative in their musical aspects? Is it enough to prove that they are the best band? They just got lucky at the time because, the people at that time love music and it is the past ...more
I like the Beatles, they're not my favourite band though but without a doubt they deserve the number one spot. The impact they had on the world, creativity, the influence they had and still have 50+ years later, pretty much every after them has been influenced by the Beatles or at least respected them
The Beatles and Queen, they were, are, and will forever be no doubt the greatest bands ever. They are way better than Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd. Although I like both bands the same, The Beatles is more influential and they are the best selling music artist. Sure, I agree that Freddie is the best vocalist, rock singer, and frontman of all time, Brian is a better guitarist, Roger is a better drummer, Queen didn't make that much influence than The Beatles. Also, The Beatles is a little more popular. Some of you said that how is The Beatles higher than Queen, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd, well, this is the answer. I saw a guy said that some modern bands are way better than The Beatles. Who? No other bands or singers can change music and influence other music artists as much as what The Beatles did. The Beatles change music forever.

It's the best band and they have great music, they have some of the most played songs for example bohemian rhapsody, we will rock you and we are the champions. These are just examples of great songs that this band has
All of the bands on this list are amazing but I think Queen is a little better. All the band members were so different but they all went together. Queen always has music to offer for every one of your moods and they never disappoint. I can't think of one song of theirs that was even just a little bit bad. Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor, Brian May, and John Deacon felt so connected with the audience. I've never been to one of their concerts and I wasn't even alive when they performed but even when I watch videos of their concerts it feels as if I'm there. I haven't watched Bohemian Rhapsody and I'm still in love with Queen. This just goes to show that people nowadays don't only love Queen because of the movies. Again, all the bands on this list are amazing and have so much to offer but in my opinion, Queen has just a bit more.
You can't even consider the Beatles as a band. They are all just pop. Queen, on the other hand, is the best band of all time. They have so many great songs. "We Are the Champions" is very inspirational, while "We Will Rock You" gets you pumped up! And don't get me started about "Bohemian Rhapsody"... That song is a masterpiece. And it is rated ON THIS WEBSITE as the best song of all time. Freddie Mercury, again, ON THIS WEBSITE, has been at first place on lists "Best Singers of All Time" and Most Unique Voices". So why aren't they at the top? I'll tell you why. The Beatles are the most OVERRATED bunch of posers ever. Queen should be at the top and no one can tell me otherwise.
Obviously the Beatles is at number 1. I'm not going to try and change that, they deserve all of the hype they get, they are probably 1 of if not the most talented and original songwriters of all time.
But Queen... Oh MAN.
QUEEN IS AMAZING.
They are so unpredictable, so iconic, so recognizable and just so strangely addictive that it hurts.
Queen is a band that makes you feel how a bend should make you feel: whatever you want. Their songs can be happy, sad, angry, really whatever you want them to be.
Queen is, in my opinion, the greatest band that will ever exist.

I'm voting Zeppelin above the two bands above them, Queen and The Beatles based on the fact that they proved themselves to be incredibly capable both in the studio and more importantly, live (unlike The Beatles, who were mainly a studio band), and because each member was equally important to the sound of the band, unlike Queen, who had most of the attention focused on Freddie Mercury. Zeppelin were so good because of the incredible interplay between John Bonham and John Paul Jones (just look at Dazed and Confused live), the soaring vocals of Robert Plant the the otherwordly guitar skills of Jimmy Page, who exceeded as both a rhythm player, a great 'feel' lead player and a crazy shredder. But if one of those sections was removed, the whole band would have fallen apart, as they did after Bonham's death. It is for these reasons that I vote Led Zeppelin as the greatest band ever.
It always surprises me when I hear about how great the Beatles were, after all since I could talk I was groomed to think this, and then I found Led Zeppelin. I've looked at all the supposed greatest bands of all time and I still love Zeppelin. In terms of lyrical value, Zeppelin isn't as good, same goes for vocals, at times. But lyrics aren't as important, you can feel so much more from amazing instrumental work. Listen to the the Beatle's highest praised songs and Zeppelin has multiple ones that beat them anyday. Also, I love both bands, but its very clear who takes what category.
So, Led Zeppelin is number 3? Makes no sense. Easily the best band of all time. They are the most inspirational band of all time and revolutionized rock music forever. Stairway to Heaven is the best song of all time, Led Zeppelin- Phyiscal Graffiti are some of the best albums of all time. So many timeless songs/ albums. It's a crime that they are number three.
They are pretty much the archetype of the perfect rock/hard rock band.
I mean, Bonzo and Page are both acclaimed to be one of the greatest in what they do,Plant had the perfect voice for their music, and Jonesy is amazingly talented too, so even if you don't like their music or the band itself, you have to assume that they deserve their place among the best.

The thing about Pink Floyd in my eyes, beyond the fact that they made killer songs individually, is that they absolutely mastered the concept album. Most of that was Roger Waters, but still.
Name any other band that not only had four albums released in six years, but also hadall of those four albums be considered some of the greatest albums ever made. You don't see it happen anywhere else. You just don't.
Other bands may have more songs that work on their own, and not just in the context of the album, but I have found very little music in any genre that is as powerful and meaningful while still being relevant today, even though the band has been around for over fifty years.
This is without a doubt the best band in my opinion. Seems like they actually take more time to make amazing music for their fans. And their albums are all unique and all the songs in the albums are unique. There is no other band like Pink Floyd. I'm confused why Queen is above Pink Floyd. While Queen is amazing with masterpiece songs that are iconic, I don't see them being above Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, the Beatles, heck even Black Sabbath is above them in my opinion. I agree Beatles are number 1 but Pink Floyd definitely deserves number 2. Only band that's close is Led Zeppelin, otherwise Pink Floyd absolutely trashed other bands.
I think Pink Floyd is the best rock band in the world. In addition to the amazing soundscapes that are on all of Pinks Floyd's albums, it is also because they create the most coherent concept albums.
I confess that my opinion is colored by the fact that I listen most to symphonic and progressive rock music. I love music where you are emotionally dragged around the mane, first by quiet passages where you get choked on the cheek- then suddenly you are knocked to the ground by hard hitting passages. it's typically Pink Floyd.
The fact that Linkin Park, Queen and Metallica are above Pink Floyd made me lose my faith in humanity. How do you not like Waters' lyrics combined with Gilmour's solos and Wright and Mason impeccable musicianship? In my opinion, PF can take the Beatles or Led Zeppelin any day. The depth and meaning of their songs can defeat any band in the universe and especially bands like Linkin Park and Queen.
I bet half of these voters never even listened to Shine on you Crazy Diamond yet feel that Linkin Park is better than PF. Go back you fanboys!

Metallica are the best band ever. Just listen to their discography. Even their weakest albums like St. Anger or Reload are great to me, they are a big inspiration and they got me into Heavy Metal music. When I first heard Master Of Puppets I was blown away by their sound. They are not the fastest band, heaviest or even most complex, but their songs are so well structured that they albums are very memorable and iconic, specially their first 5. To me, Ride The Lightning or Justice are their best, and one of the greatest Metal records of all time. Amazing band.
Greatest band ever. Their music is spellbinding (they created some of the greatest musical works ever) and they have never ceased to amaze me. I never listened to St. Anger or Lulu but I heard songs from the rest of their albums and I never disliked a single one (even from their newer stuff, which is on par with their older stuff). Metallica is amazing and I think they are much better than bands like the Beatles (incredibly overrated and pretty generic, I have a friend who loves them though), Led Zeppelin (the singer's voice is aggravating), and even Queen even though Queen is great. Long live the metal/some of the music kings. People who don't know them (I.e. pretty much every kid in every school I went to) need to hear them. They are masters of puppets (😜, also the second greatest song of all time) and masters of music.
As a band they have done it all, ground-breaking sound when they first came out, become the king of their genre, break into the mainstream, experimenting with their sound and facing their inner problem, and now coming out strong and kicking ass. Few band reach this far
It's the most relevant band... And has huge numbers of songs which are great... Unlike other top 4 bands on list, which are there only because nostalgia.

Better than the Beatles, but with less main stream pop. Smarter and more Real than Led Zeppelin. I'll always love them more than Metallic, AC/D3, and Metallica (most mainstream metal is unlistenable or just badd). Now I have to give them the vote. They are rock by definition: like soul music sped up or like blues and jazz but with a more modernized fast rage.
I'll always love the truest rock band ever made.
Explain to me why Metallica is higher then Rolling Stones, these guys are second best, other then the Beatles, the stones are awesome, Queen wasnt even even that popular for its time, suck it up. Street fighting man, sympathy for the devil, gimme shelter, ruby Tuesday, those are some of the best ever songs, suck it up the stones are great, and if you think they are bad, then YOU ARE CRAZY. The Rolling Stones are awesome
This list is a joke! Even Paul McCartney has that The Stones are the best! These other groups wouldn't exist if not for the stones! Only Elvis had more influence on rock n roll than the stones! 4 of the top 5 selling music tours of all time including numbers 1 and 2! Enough said they really don't need defending I just wish people would quit making ridiculous, uneducated, childish lists like this it's very insulting to the legends even though they'll never pay attention to stuff like this it's a disgrace!
Of the bands on this list, the Stones and Zeppelin are the best. The Beatles were too poppy, then too psycodelic. Queen was a very good band but got bigger after Mercury's death, same goes with Nirvana with cobain. Neither are worthy of top 5 status.

Green Day should be in the top ten. They have songs of many different genres, such as Punk Rock, Pop Punk, Alternative Rock, Power Pop, Garage Rock, Acoustic, Ska and even Screamo. Tre Cool is probably one of the best drummers on Earth, and Mike Dirnt is probably one of the best bassists ever. Billie Joe's lyrics were good at first, but they just keep getting better and better. His vocals are also improving over time. Some of his guitar solos (especially from the early albums) are absolutley insane. They have sold over 75 million albums worldwide, making them one of the best selling artists of all time. 'Dookie' is certified as diamond in the USA, and it is the best selling punk album and also the 57th best selling album of all time. They have stood the test of time, as they have been together for 30 years. They are also one of the most influential bands ever, inspiring many other artists such as Blink 182, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Lady Gaga, Busted, McFly, Steve Rushton, ...more
Green day, they are the back talking anarchy type of band. To me they are the definition of rebellious teenagers. They are also one of the most rebellious bands to have come around so far. And they are the band to turn to when you either want to cry, or just be alone and say f the world. And we all seem to love it and always will.
Green Day is a FANTASTIC band. I don't know why it is number twelve. I mean I guess I would think the people voting voting on this website would say so considering you think Ariana Grande and Michael Jackson are considered bad singers.
Beatles are definitely #1, but Green Day is also a great band. Very powerful music, influential, good sound, I could go on and on. They're still making good music today, though I do think their older stuff (1000 hours - American Idiot) was better.

Yes I may be a teenager but my opinion still matters. Kurt Donald cobain is one of the major influences of my life. Kurt said that people read to much in his music and try's to make it what it is not, but true nirvana fans do not have to have an explanation on what certain things in his music meant we just know that when we listen to it we are at home and have a place to fit in.
You could say The Beatles and Led Zeppelin are true figures in Rock. but Nirvana not only showed people the good in this rebellion of Music, but it really showed heart realism and passion yes Queen and Zeppelin shows powerful and loud music, but Nirvana was one of the first bands to deal with personal problems and sadness depression, it's not for everyone, but everyone should at least know and respect this band
I'd say that nirvana should be higher because of their skill to make so many hit songs with unfortunately such short time. Although some of their songs are not complex, the music is terrific, plus they basically jump started grunge. The most impactful point is how ever since they've come out, people of all ages know and listen to them. Lastly they created the best rock song of all time, Smells Like Teen Spirit.
I am not going to state their influence, but I will say that Nevermind and In-Utero are both albums I can listen to front to back without skipping any tracks, no filler whatsoever.
Bleach is a great straight forward grunge album, filled with punky/thrash three chord songs, while not as well structured as their major label LP's it's still worth a listen.

What is AC/DC doing here? Last time I checked they were 5. I'd make them 1 if it was my website. There music just gets you pumped up and in the rock and roll mood. AC/DC FOREVER!
AC/DC has stuck with me since I was very little, It might have been my first rock band I ever heard and I have loved it since.
So Metallica, Green day and Linkin Park are better than Ac Dc Guns and Sabbath...must be kids voting...
They managed to climb back to nr 1 band after their lead singer died, it's 2000's and people still listen to it and use it commercials. AC/DC are the beatles counterpart in hard rock. in my oppinion 1. beatles 2 sc/dc 3 queen/led zepplin 4 rollingstones 5 pink floyd. Let's be real which bands will people continue to listen and how many iconic songs have they made. Having a spot at nr 9 is a joke. You're telling me the nr 1 hard rock band isn't higher? come on guys are you for real voting Green Day above AC/DC?

Okay every fan of any kind of rock music (metal and alternative included) should have every rock band in front of idiotic one direction.
Easily the most influential prog band, neil peart is insane, geddy lee is insane, alex lifeson is extremely underrated and incredibly talented, none of these other bands aside from led zep can merely comprehend and capture the skill and heart that goes into each of their songs. one of very few bands to keep the same lineup for over 40 years.
It's not just Neil Peart that gets all the credit: the amazing solos by Lifeson, and the incredible talents by Lee.
Moving pictures is my second favorite album of all time, and YYZ is the best instrumental ever.
The Newcomers

Iron Maiden is not only the greatest metal band of all time, but the greatest band period! No other group has put out so many good albums, have so many amazing songs, and are so incredible live! If you have never experienced Maiden, do yourself a favour and listen to their incredible catalogue of music. You will not be disappointed! Up the Irons!
Iron Maiden rules! My favorite band of all time ever since I discovered them at age 16. I needed tp find something that sounded like Dio, especially from the album Heaven and Hell by Black although I was also super into Holy Diver and other DIo albums of that time period. I found Iron Maiden and was even more impressed and found myself loving them more than any other band.
This is the band that got me into metal... By far the best metal band out there... U wanna listen to this ...the lyrics are great...Steve Harris and his galloping bass playing style is great... Also he's a good captain for team Maiden... Bruce Dickinson is great on vocals... Adrian Smith has his melodic guitar playing style... Dave Murray's Solos are great... Janick Gers has a good heavy guitaring...and is great live to dancing and kicking around... Nicko Mc Brain is also a great drummer... On other words its very difficult too find a band that had been making sings since the past 45 years and can match Maiden's Calibre... Up The Irons
These kings are amazing and my third favorite band of all time. Their songs are amazing and few (like two people) are better singers than Bruce Dickinson! I also want to fly in their plane because Bruce is also a licensed pilot.

Come on guys Axl Rose can sing in 5 octaves. Name another singer with that talent. Also they are still performing and still sound great
How is it possible to Tokio Hotel to be in 2nd Place? For God's Sake, Guns N' Roses are without any doubt the best band ever! Everyone knows Sweet Child O'Mine and November Rain, not to mention Welcome To The Jungle. Every time I hear Slash's solos, I go to heaven.
Guns and roses, hm hard to explain. They give you a sense of what was and is to come although they are no longer together they will forever continue to enrich people's lives.
It's infuriating to see the who, nirvana and the beach boys ahead of gnr. They should be in first.

Linkin Parks sound and lyrics are very powerful. It reflects the genuineness of not only their own experiences, but their audiences as well. The combined talent of men in different genres, created one of the most beautiful diversities in music that I have ever witnessed. I believe they should EASILY be in the top 3.
Linkin Park is THE rock band leading the digital age. The only rock band today to be insight in the top 20 of "artists with the most facebook followers". Biggest rock band on Youtube.
Love or hate them..Linkin Park is still going strong and is leaving behind a huge legacy.Only time will tell.. but this band has major potential to be remembered as one of the greatest.
What! You gotta be kidding... Linkin Park ON 7TH! This band deserves to be on the top... It's the best rock band the world has seen or will ever see... Their music is awesome, and their lyrics are always so realistic and wonderful!
LINKIN PARK has a massive legacy with a giant following that is still growing day by day. Love them or hate them.. Linkin Park has proven the test of time and earned it's place among the greatests.

If you like Rush you should give them a listen. They have a similar vibe but at the same time feel really original and amazing!
I have to say, I'm surprised they made it to the top 40. But they deserve top 5.
Can this be above Imagine Dragons?
Top 5! Easily! All 16 albums are amazing

My favorite band ever, flea is an amazing bassist, anthony is a great singer, josh and john are great guitarists, and chad is a pretty good drummer. how is this below one direction?
Basically the only good band that hasn't broken up and is still good to this day.
My #1, grew up listening to them non-stop. Funky, catchy, great riffs and baselines. The best
How is this so low? One of the top bands in the world...

U2 consistently has the highest grossing and largest sold out arena world tours every time the put out an album. Their zooropa tour in the 90's was massive and was the third largest behind the rolling stones just based on gross receipts. To say that they are not in the top 5 biggest bands of all time (yes this includes the 80's and 90's) is just ridiculous.
Rarely does a group combine artistry and politics as gracefully as U2. Certainly not all 50+ groups that are ahead of this one. U2 will always be listened to and always respected.
Last of the iconic rock bands.
Seriously, Imagine Dragons is ahead of U2? Are all these voters in middle school?
They are not my favorite band but I'm rooting for them because I see crap ahead of them!

Aerosmith needs to be higher. They are the "Bad Boys from Boston" and they rule! They got so many great albums/hits and they are a rock legend! Definitely one of the best and most influential bands in the world! Aerosmith forever!
One of the greatest rock bands ever. They're talented and they have good songs and great live performances.
Dream On, Sweet Emotion, Walk this way, What more can I say.
Best band ever. they have 2 of my favorite songs and should be at least top 10

Black Sabbath is one of the most influential bands in rock history and one of the bands that inspired many of the bands that we have today. And the original singer (Ozzy Osbourne) is not called the "Prince of Darkness" or the "Godfather of Heavy Metal" for nothing. They should be much higher. They rock and they are the Godfather of Metal! Long Live Black Sabbath!
Damn a band that brings you back to the 70s as if you are in Birmingham with them performing witchcraft. They are real hard hitter that leaves you wanting more... Ozzy's vocals, iomi's guitar, butler's bass and Bill's drums are all components which make up the iconic and explosive yet beautiful souns of Sabbath
Sabbath should be number 1! Didn't matter if it was Ozzy or Dio singing, this band was consistently good.
The greatest and the best metal band of all time, period.

What! Some of these bands above this isn't even that good? Rush only had Tom Sawyer. Iron Maiden only had The trooper. This makes no sense. This band should at least be in the top 10. By the way, Nirvana is so overrated.
One of the best rock bands of the 80-90 era...Their earlier albums sound so fresh even today.
Impossible! How is this at 31st place, below One Direction and Twenty One Pilots! Outrageous.
They are the best band ever with the hot songs Living on a orator and It's my life

HOW THE HECK IS Coldplay ABOVE THE WHO? Name five Coldplay songs now. Now name five who songs. I can. Baba o Riley, my generation, behind blue eyes, pinball wizard, who are you. And that isn't even getting into the the other stuff. Coldplay had livin la vida and kind of paradise. THAT'S IT.
Baba o reily, my generation, I can see for miles, pinball wizard. These songs are all legendary rock songs and are made by one of the best bands in the world. The who. They even Inspired back mason, drummer of Pink Floyd to start learning drums. That's how good they are.
Anyone who says The Who are an overrated and horrible band is at the same level of intelligence as a dead rat!
The Who should be in the Top 10 in my opinion.
A list of the greatest rock bands without The Who in it is like a trial without evidence!

I love Imagine Dragons, they've been my favorite band for over a year. Their lyrics are relatively deep and the music is catchy. However, I don't think they deserve to be in this list, not even if they kept the same sound and meaningful lyrics of their first two albums.
They are my favorite band. I love all of their songs, especially from the smoke and mirrors album. They have such deep and emotional songs. The only bands that come close to them (modern bands) are FOB, and probably Twenty-One Pilots.
One of my favorite bands <3 I'm pretty disconnected from my family and depressed because my dad died but I deny it when my mom asks me and never get help, but imagine dragons helps me so much and along with twenty one pilots, they actually bring me closer to my family and relatives and we bond because of it.
They're not as great as The Beatles, Bon Jovi, Pink Floyd, or Nirvana but they deserve the spot they have. They're one of today's best bands. Way better than than garbage that some people refer to as "One Direction".

Foo fighters is a continue action of the former band nirvana. It is a modern version of the band. David grohl is also a role model of mine
Oh come on! Foo Fighters are way too low here!
You can't really hate them...
They should be above 20!

Rivers Cuomo could be one of the greatest vocalists I've ever heard. There weird music is awesome!
It's hilarious how bands like Weezer, oasis, and The Beach Boys are behind imagine dragons and maroon 5. It's a shame
How did the Bee Gees, a bunch of girly voiced singers beat this amazing band?
The best band that's never been acknowledged as the best band of all time.

22? How is this so far down? Radiohead isn't for this world. The human species doesn't deserve Radiohead's music. It's too good for us. Radiohead conveys emotions you had no idea existed, do things you had no idea could be done, and can make anything and everything work with their genius talent. Also, look at how well the band members aged! In A Moon Shaped-Pool, you can't even tell that the members of the band are almost 50 years old. They haven't lost any skill or talent over the years, and if anything, they've learned. If I had to pick my Desert Island Disc, it would no doubt be a Radiohead album. Even Pablo Honey has songs like Blow Out that are better and more unique than pretty much anything musicians are doing today. Radiohead is definitely one of the most unique bands in the world, and they're easily the best at it.
Very creative and a little too good to be real. Again, they're better than the Beatles. The Beatles may be more iconic, but they aren't perfect. Radiohead (somehow) is.
Are you serious. Radiohead is THIS far back?! They could be in the top 5. OK Computer, Kid A, In Rainbows. OK Computer defined music for a decade forward, Kid A was genius from start to finish and there was nothing like it. In Rainbows was practically perfect and still so unique. Their music is genius and timeless, and hardly any other bands are so well critically received for over 20 years! You can't go wrong with any album.
Song after song of deep meaningful sound, just pure emotion, If you've never heard a radiohead song (apart from creep) I DARE YOU, to listen to
No Surprises
Karma Police
Street Spirit
No less than four times each, listen to each, take a day then listen to them again. All are great when you're having one of those sad nights, just the opening of no surprises will give you chills, after that move onto more experimental sounds like Kid A. But trust me if you follow that and just dip your toe in the water, the shark that is radiohead will come and take you underneath the waves and change your life for the better. Thankyou

Avenged sevenfold gives you a will to be weird. You may have different styles and things to say than others but that's normal. Don't be afraid to be yourself and avenged sevenfold along with nirvana gives you that. I mean he'll where do you think artists these days got their inspiration.
These guys don't care what other people think about them or their music. It is addicting. My favorite band personally. They should be at #1
Best ever band... I love this band because they guys are best friends first...
That guitar solos, intros, verses, riffs and voices...
