Best Post-Grunge Songs

This list shows the best post-grunge songs from various artists of the '90s and '00s.

The Top Ten
  1. The Diary of Jane - Breaking Benjamin

The Diary of Jane brings out the anger and frustration in you. It's the best post-grunge song ever. I see others have rated other songs higher than this, but believe me, this song exemplifies the grunge in post-grunge.

Best damn song in my opinion, with a mixture of sadness and the ability to relax you with their powerful words.

Clearly the best out of here. Totally over Foo Fighters so far.

  2. Everlong - Foo Fighters

When I first heard this song, I was obsessed with the chorus where Dave Grohl's lyrics speed up. Great song, and it definitely deserves to be on here.

This is the only option, towering high above the rest of this (although admittedly underrated) genre.

  3. Hemorrhage (In My Hands) - Fuel

First off, Brett Scallions in his prime had one of the best live voices ever. Put that together with Carl Bell's writing, and you have this song, which I fell in love with the first time I heard it. My band is playing this song now. Just wow. Every time I hear it, it blows me away even more.

Great, great song. Supreme vocals by Brett Scallions. You can really feel the emotion when he sings, "Don't fall away and leave me to myself." God, I almost forgot how much I love this tune!

Most emotional song of all time.

  4. How You Remind Me - Nickelback

My favorite song ever! Nickel-haters can back off. This is the best post-grunge song.

  5. Animal I Have Become - Three Days Grace

Adam is a legend and has one of the most unique voices and sounds in rock as a whole. He dominated post-grunge with an iron grip.

Adam's voice is the most unique among all vocalists of post-grunge bands!

Best post-grunge song ever, with a singer who has the best voice!

  6. Hero - Chad Kroeger

Shows that Chad Kroeger can make a decent song.

    Favorite movie and favorite song.

  7. Kryptonite - 3 Doors Down

Such a nostalgic-sounding song. Try and tell me you automatically don't teleport to an early 2000s arcade when this song comes on.

  8. Far Behind - Candlebox

  9. Higher - Creed

One of the best songs by Creed and helped pioneer the genre.

  10. Shine - Collective Soul

  11. The Newcomers
  12. ?

    Plowed - Sponge

This song is excellent. It should be among the top because Sponge was one of the first post-grunge bands.

  13. ?

    Last Time - Fuel

  14. The Contenders
  15. My Own Prison - Creed

Just great. I think it is Creed's best song. The music and composition are extraordinary. This is by a group whose members were in their early twenties.

Just so rustic but still has a glitter of its own. Creed is the best band.

This song is a masterpiece. Regardless of what you think of Creed, this is top 3 material. Listen for yourself and see.

  16. Sex and Candy - Marcy Playground

  17. One Last Breath - Creed

You can hate Creed, but you have to accept that this song is a masterpiece.

  18. Learn to Fly - Foo Fighters

This song is awesome! It is very catchy! You can't help but sing along to it. The riff and vocals are amazing! Dave is a legend.

The Pretender is better than this, although this is No. 7 on my Foo Fighters list.

  19. Lightning Crashes - Live

  20. Break - Three Days Grace

Awesome. It goes a little bit into the emo genre, but as a post-grunge fan, I still have Break on my playlist. Catchy rhythms!

  21. Santa Monica - Everclear

  22. Blurry - Puddle of Mudd

The top 5 should be: Blurry, Hemorrhage (In My Hands), Shimmer, Iris, and Name. Blurry is so beautiful. Three Days Grace isn't even post-grunge, nor are Seether and Breaking Benjamin. Grunge is not dead, so don't make it seem that way. R.I.P. Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley.

Looked up this list specifically to make sure this song was on it.

Should be in the top 3 at least. What a beautiful song! Really underrated.

  23. Iris - Goo Goo Dolls

Iris is an awesome song. It's just one of those songs that you can really appreciate the first time you listen to it. Everything is so well put together, it's hard not to respect the genius of the song.

  24. Bound for the Floor - Local H

This band is great! They sound like a mix of Nirvana and The Offspring. They are really underrated and have so many good albums that every grunge and rock fan should hear.

  25. With Arms Wide Open - Creed

  26. Tomorrow - Silverchair

  27. Blackbird - Alter Bridge

Better than many of the songs on this list. Powerful, and Alter Bridge at their best, although not technically post-grunge.

  28. I Hate Everything About You - Three Days Grace

  29. Semi-Charmed Life - Third Eye Blind
