Top 10 Best Relient K Songs
The top 10 best songs by the Christian alternative rock band we all know and love, Relient K!
-
Deathbed
This may not be one of their most upbeat songs, but I will argue that it is without question their most powerful piece. I still remember crying after listening to this song for the first time, and it still makes me tear up a bit. But even as sad as the story of the character presented is, it still leaves a message of hope and a better future.
In short, this is a truly uplifting yet tragically beautiful piece that certainly deserves a lot more recognition.
Really?! It's this far down? This is one of the best pieces of writing of all time! Thiessen sat down and wrote a completely original and beautiful piece of art in which he describes the life of a man that never happened. I defy even the best of songwriters to come up with such an in-depth story of victory.
Not only is it a creative masterpiece, but it is one of the best stories of finding victory despite a lifetime of failure, which is the true beauty of the grace of Jesus Christ.

Be My Escape
Great song. I'm a Christian, but I'm usually not fond of Christian songs, so as you can imagine, I was hesitant to try out this new band a friend had recommended to me. But I was pleasantly surprised. I love this band, and this is my favorite song they have.
I love how the lyrics in their songs can be seen as talking about God or just a normal situation in life. Great music, lyrics, beat, ideas, and stories - everything. I'll never get tired of this band or this song.
I love this song, but I wish they had added Sadie Hawkins Dance! I love both songs, but I probably like SHD more than this one. Well, really, I like all of the Relient K songs on this list.

Who I Am Hates Who I've Been
I love this song. It's great for when you're sad and is very famous as well. It also has an awesome music video!
Great message and great music. It's energetic and fun.
-
Candlelight
This is their overall BEST song, in my opinion. I have to disagree with the placement on the list for this one. Even though it has a high position, this song is better than Be My Escape and Who I Am Hates Who I've Been for sure, as well as the other songs.
Really great song - the lyrics are just so catchy and fun to sing along with. It's a great, great song.
Candlelight is basically a guy's song dedicated to a girl who he finds to be truly magnificent. To me, this is one of Relient K's top ten songs. It also makes a great Valentine's Day song.
-
Forget and Not Slow Down
Lyrically and musically, their best song. It's one of the most original songs ever written, and the "I could spend my life just trying to sift through, what I could have done better, but what good do what-ifs do?" is maybe the most wisdom ever put into two lines. Cheers, RK.
This is my absolute favorite song by Relient K, and although some other songs are contenders, this one is filled with the musical flow, the ridiculous vocal range, and the impactful and pensive lyrics that led me to love every inch of this band.
-
Devastation and Reform
Another great song by Relient K. The drums and guitar solo intro set the tone perfectly, and I love the slightly muffled tone Thiessen sings in towards the beginning. The transition from that to normal singing, the note range, and all the different parts of the song make this a really great listen.
I love the part when it slows down: "Thank you, God, for giving me the insight, so I might make these wrongs right," and then it picks back up and gets faster and crazier than it was even in the beginning. Just a great song. Glad it's this high on the list.
A place in the top 5 is what this song truly deserves! Come on, people! Vote for this amazing song! I just can't get it out of my head. That's how great it is!

Which to Bury; Us or the Hatchet
An energizing song, full of emotion. The chorus was amazing. The way he sang it was just so right. One of their best, no doubt. It should be at least higher on the list.
Look up the acoustic version of this song. I believe that it is by far their best song. Also, Curl Up and Die should be in the top ten. The song is so deep.
I love this song! The way he wants his message to get across is just so amazing! Definitely one of my favorite songs by Relient K.

Savannah
How is this not number 1?! This song has everything - great guitar riffs, great lyrics, a catchy chorus, and not to mention the whole version of the song is in three parts, one being a cappella.
The only reason this isn't in the top ten is that people just don't know about it. It's so beautiful, one of my all-time favorite songs.
Other than Deathbed, this is my favorite song of all time. Combined with Oasis and Baby, it creates a sad but lovely dream.
-
Must Have Done Something Right
This is one of those songs that makes you say, "Oh my gosh, this sounds familiar!" even if you've never heard it. This is one of my most favorite songs from them. I love it.
This is literally the most adorable song I have ever heard. It makes me sad that it's this far down on the list!
"We should get jerseys, 'cause we make a good team." Cheesy but incredibly catchy and adorable!
-
When I Go Down
I could fall asleep to this song. Matt has an amazing voice, and this song really shows it off. Definitely their best chill song.
It's a very good song that makes you realize you're sad, but then you'll feel better at the end.

?
Runnin'
Runnin' tells a tragic but hopeful story in a similar vein to Deathbed, with the same great musical power.
-
?
Sahara
Perhaps Relient K's heaviest song. It deals with such raw emotion.
-
Pressing On
There are those songs that run in your head all day, and you hate them after two days. This song has been in my head for nearly two years, and I cannot get enough of it. I just can't press past this song.
Man, this must be their most popular song. It's been featured on a couple of shows, and the acoustic version is killer.
"Can I get some water?"
"It's not in the budget."
Story of my life.

Jefferson Aero Plane
This is such an underrated, yet catchy song. I know it doesn't deserve to be in the top 10, but it deserves to be one of the best Relient K songs. This song gives off a unique vibe of calmness and joy. The lyrics also have meaning, which is now what Relient K does with their music compared to their albums before Two Lefts Don't Make a Right... But Three Do.
Overall, this song is relaxing to listen to when traveling or at home in the morning.
-
This is the End
I love this song so much. This and "(If You Want It)" are a great pair together, and the lyrics plus the melody give me goosebumps every time. Such a great song - should be higher up on the list.
-
The One I'm Waiting For
Energy and passion shine on this song more than any other Relient K song. It's an amazing upbeat song, perfect to kick off MMHMM.
-
Let It All Out
This is a beautiful song. It's like a prayer. I used to listen to it instead of sleeping - I loved this song that much. Must be higher on this list. I Celebrate the Day is another beautiful song that should be higher.
-
Faking My Own Suicide
Underrated song. It's about a guy who wants to fake his own suicide to make his girlfriend realize how much she really loved him. Unique, fresh, and pleasing to hear!
I'm not sure if it is talking about a girl or not, but the first time I heard this, I thought it was talking about Jesus. Either way, it's an amazing song!
This song has a touching story and is much more than the average love song. It should be in the top five at least.
-
(If You Want It)
This is a great one. Probably better than "This Is The End," in my opinion, just because of how quiet and slow it is. That, combined with Thiessen's haunting vocals, is just amazing. Gives me goosebumps every time.
I have to say, this song is beautiful, one of the best lyrical songs Matt Thiessen has ever written.
This finishes the best album with powerful imagery.
-
I So Hate Consequences
I love the message, and it also has a really good, get-up-and-dance part, as well as a slower section in the song.
This is a really good song, and I think it should at least get in the top ten.
This is what got me hooked on Relient K. I love this song and band so much. It is so relatable, and if you have not heard this, I highly suggest you listen to it. I personally guarantee that you will, at a bare minimum, like this song.

Give Until There's Nothing Left
-
Sadie Hawkins Dance
Great song. Upbeat and has a pretty entertaining story that's told throughout the song.
Surprised this is #18. Really? This is one of their classic/signature songs. Definitely top 10.
So classic and amazing. One of my favorite songs in the world (other Relient K songs running up).
-
Trademark
It's my, my trademark move
To turn my back on you.
It's my, my trademark move
To realize I should improve.
Enough said. Awesome song.
-
The Best Thing
Finishing the list off on a light mood... "This is the best thing, the best thing that could be happening, and I think you would agree the best thing is that it's happening to you and me!"
This song is the best thing that ever happened to Relient K! Definitely should be in the top ten instead of Devastation and Reform.
-
High of 75
This song is so catchy and bright! Love this song because of its chord progression!
-
Forgiven
This is the first song I remember hearing. It is beautiful, rhythmic, and I just love it. I'm surprised it's not higher. It's upbeat, fast at times, and one of my favorites.
I cannot believe this song was ranked 17!

In Love with the 80's (Pink Tux to the Prom)
