Best Scorpions Albums
Their heaviest, most metallic album. Fast and heavy songs like Blackout or Dynamite, melodic rock anthems like No One Like You or You Give Me All I Need, the long and doomy China White, or the wonderful power ballad When the Smoke Is Going Down. The album has it all.
Lots of great albums to choose from, but for me, this is their best album - the one that introduced me to their music. I think Love at First Sting might have sold better and had more hit singles, but this album plays better start to finish. If Rudolf Schenker considers it his best work, then who am I to disagree? Fantastic!
The highlight of their more commercial '80s period. Rock You Like a Hurricane and the beautiful Still Loving You are two of their biggest classics. And then there are songs like Bad Boys Running Wild, Coming Home, Big City Nights, or Crossfire.
Best Scorpions album. Lots of cool songs on it.
Dark and heavy album by the band. Especially the three final songs: Only a Man, The Zoo, and the epic title track. And then there's the melodic anthem Make It Real or the dreamy ballad Lady Starlight with one of Rudolf Schenker's finest solos. Awesome album!
The melodies in many songs on this album are so beautiful - much better than in Love at First Sting. This is an inspired album. The singer's voice goes deeper and higher in melodies than with Lovedrive. The songs on this album are better and more inspired than most of the songs on Lovedrive.
Perfect album with guitar work from both Michael Schenker and Matthias Jabs, as well as Rudolf's first guitar solos on the two ballads Always Somewhere and Holiday. Holiday is actually my favorite Scorpions song and on the same level as Hotel California or Stairway to Heaven, in my opinion. But every song on here is amazing: Loving You Sunday Morning, Coast to Coast, Can't Get Enough, Is There Anybody There, Lovedrive... every song!
I like Klaus' raw singing on this, although singing like this affected his vocal health. There are also a lot of hits on this and serious rockers. Coast to Coast is a masterpiece.
Moody third album. Some of Uli Jon Roth's best guitar work. He's on fire on songs like Dark Lady, Evening Wind, Sun in My Hand, and Longing for Fire. The title track, Top of the Bill, and Robot Man are early classics, and Night Lights is one of only two instrumentals the Scorpions released on their studio albums.
This album is so very special and contains the absolute best guitar work from Uli Jon Roth and Rudolf Schenker. Listen to songs like Longing for Fire and Evening Wind, as well as the title track or the ending part of Top of the Bill. It's absolutely the best Scorpions album, no doubt!
Their heaviest album up to that point, with classics such as Pictured Life, Catch Your Train, Backstage Queen, or the Hendrix-like Polar Nights. In Your Park and Yellow Raven are two fantastic ballads. Virgin Killer and Hell-Cat are two interesting Roth songs, and Crying Days is like three songs in one.
The first time I listened to Blackout I was blown away. I was equally excited when I first heard the Uli era albums. I get the same feeling listening to Humanity Hour 1. This is different... this is cool... this is a band reaching for more and hitting the mark. Most people will never hear this album, but that doesn't diminish it one bit.
Maybe the best Scorpions album ever. Great futuristic album with awesome production and fantastic songs like Hour 1, We Were Born to Fly, and The Future Never Dies.
I really dig this album. There are a lot of great songs on it. "We Were Born to Fly" is just one of them. It's one of my favorites.
Early psychedelic masterpiece by the Scorpions. Speedy's Coming is their first hit, and They Need a Million, Drifting Sun, This Is My Song, Far Away, and the incredible 9-minute title track are among the most interesting Scorpions tunes.
Passionate album, genius guitars all the way through. Every song has a great balance between hearty feelings and the hardness you need.
One of my absolute favorite albums of all time. I will never grow tired of listening to this masterpiece, with so many great songs on it!
Easily their most consistently awesome album. Not a single dud in the bunch.
Their best album since Love at First Sting in my opinion. Great rock songs such as Raised on Rock, Sting in the Tail, Turn You On, and Spirit of Rock and beautiful ballads like The Good Die Young, Lorelei, and The Best Is Yet to Come.
I remember I was a young boy, and I used to listen to this album again and again - so many times the beginning of Alien Nation. This was my introduction to hard rock and metal music.
Alien Nation, No Pain, No Gain, Woman, Under the Same Sun... Criminally underrated.
Perfect mixture of the more psychedelic '70s era and the more commercial '80s era of the Scorpions. Steamrock Fever, We'll Burn the Sky, The Sails of Charon, He's a Woman - She's a Man, and Born to Touch Your Feelings are classics. The Riot of Your Time and Your Light are underrated gems.
Great album! Sadly, the pre-1979 era doesn't get enough credit. If you don't know Uli, it is time to listen to the album. I don't think there is a bad song on it. We'll Burn the Sky and The Sails of Charon always blow me away. Check out some of the old performances on YouTube.
My favorite live album of all time. The whole band is so tight, and Uli plays incredibly well (his final concerts with the band). Many songs from their early years have their definitive versions on this album.
Amazing live album! Don't know why this is so low. Should be in the top 5 in my opinion.
The album is softer with more ballads and "poppy" songs. Still, there's a lot of good songwriting here, especially "Wild Child" and "You and I," which are two of their finest songs from the '90s.
