Best Supertramp Songs

The Top Ten
Goodbye Stranger

Not my favorite Supertramp song, but this is still a progressive rock classic. Their signature Wurlitzer electric piano sounds blend in well with the heavier instruments and production. Don't forget some heartfelt harmonies from the band itself, and you have a recipe for a great track.

Only with time have I really appreciated how great this song is. Wonderful melodies and the lyrics are more punk rock than the punk and new wave bands around at the same time. The only difference is this still sounds great years later.

The Logical Song

THE absolutely best Supertramp song! The crazy instrumentals perfectly complement Supertramp's unique voice. This song gets you smiling, dancing, and thinking.

This used to be my favorite song as a child. I just love it. It's still one of my favorites of all time. Supertramp is probably the most underrated band of all time.

From the second the song starts, it's awesome. Literally every second of this wonderful tune is iconic.

Take the Long Way Home

Somehow, that opening harmonica came to mean Supertramp to me. The Logical Song has the best lyrics of any song by anyone, but this song is still more special to me on a personal level.

The overall feel of this song is fantastic. Definitely the best, maybe tied with The Logical Song.

One of their best songs, great harmonica intro!

School

Best song from Supertramp! This song represents progressive rock at its best. So much intensity throughout the entire song. From the beginning till the end, everything is different.

The progression of the song and the different use of instruments is outstanding. Really reminds me of childhood. The song definitely makes you reminisce.

Absolutely brilliant! My favorite song of all time. Instrumental genius!

Crime of the Century

Child of Vision also has a fantastic instrumental, but Crime of the Century has an instrumental that is perfectly coordinated, insightful, entrancing, and overall the best orchestration of instruments imaginable. Even just listening closely to the simple piano part, you can hear it in two slightly different rhythms. The lyrics are golden too.

This should be number one, the best Supertramp song in my opinion. The instrumental part of this song is so mesmerizing. I just can't get enough of listening to it.

Fool's Overture

This should be #1. You'll never get tired of this song since half of the song is instrumental, and the other half showcases Supertramp's incredible voice. Add the fact that this song is 10 minutes long, and you've got one of the best songs of all time: Fool's Overture.

What a genius Roger Hodgson is. Seriously, this song makes me feel so many things. Probably the most beautiful song ever composed, and it has so many different elements going for it. It is the best Supertramp composition ever, in my opinion.

There are so many incredible parts to this song. The writers must have been incredibly inspired. I listened to this song all my life but only recently realized how complex it is. Good job Roger et al!

Breakfast in America

Only 7th? I'm shocked. This one is the most famous and one of their best.

Give a Little Bit

I'm surprised that this isn't #1. I guess I'm not tired of it yet because I think it deserves top spot.

Should be the best. Absolutely beautiful. My favorite song ever.

A little tired of this one, but it's still a classic.

Bloody Well Right

One of the heaviest! And one of the best too! That guitar riff is too powerful. I really love this song.

This one definitely has the best guitar of any Supertramp song, by far.

It's definitely got the best guitar of any Supertramp song out there.

Dreamer

This is, without a doubt, the greatest song created by Supertramp! I can't understand how it isn't the first one.

Dreamer and Goodbye Stranger are the best!

One of the finest. Deserves to be higher.

The Newcomers

? Poor Boy

Okay, I at least expected it to be in the top 15.

This song is criminally underrated.

? Aries
The Contenders
Rudy

How is this song not top 10? Yes, it didn't get the radio time Breakfast In America did, but it's a much better song. Top 5, easy.

This is purely one of the best songs of Supertramp, just before School!

Rudy is for me a complete journey with guitars, violins, percussion, etc.

10/10 for me. It's the best of the group.

Even in the Quietest Moments
It's Raining Again

Well, John Helliwell would be the reason why I've been a huge S.T. fan. After listening to and getting hooked immediately to his sound, style, and just mind-blowing sax solos, I, as a sax player, tried to copy his sound. Well, let's just say it isn't easy to play.

Now about the song. When I first heard it, I thought, What a silly, bubble-gummy kind of song, only to realize later that the song actually has some depth. Yes, it wasn't one of their best-written songs, but it always put me in a good mood.

To end the song, just like the beginning, John blows us away with just another well-written, played, and executed sax solo that seems to take me on a journey through a rainy day. In the end, I'm more of a fan than ever! Thanks for caring.

From Now On

Beautiful, just beautiful. The ending chorus is powerful, with Roger Hodgson absolutely killing it. I cannot express how great this song is. I recommend it to everyone.

The ending part of this song is my favorite part of any song ever. Amazing all around!

Rick Davies's finest song. The piano is the best part.

Hide in Your Shell

As a lifelong Supertramp fan who owns every album, I'd say it's a tie between Hide in Your Shell and Take the Long Way Home for #1. The live version of Hide in Your Shell on Paris is incredible.

It's my having-a-baby song. Really draws you in and then builds up to a crescendo. Makes me cry too. Such feeling and tremendous emotion, it makes me forget everything else.

This and Take the Long Way Home should be 1a and 1b. Really, the whole album of Crime of the Century should fill out the top 8 songs. Supertramp at their absolute best.

Child of Vision

The second half of the song is honestly one of the most perfect arrangements in music. The piano solo, the groove, and the melody just fit so perfectly. Definitely a contender for the most underrated songs of all time.

Easily the best Supertramp song. Never hear it on the radio, such a shame. Rick's piano solo is one of the best on any record. Simply the best song, period.

Completely underrated song. One of the most complete songs and one of my Supertramp favorites!

Another Man's Women

By far and away the best. My life in a song. Never shag another man's woman.

Two of Us
If Everyone Was Listening

Truly one of the most beautiful songs ever written.

Asylum

Awesome song! The lyrics really make you feel the character becoming crazy.

Great lyrics and epic music. As good as School and Crime of the Century.

A Soapbox Opera

My favorite Supertramp song. It's simple, but it's just so damn poignant.

Should be in the top 10 at least. This song is so beautiful.

Lover Boy
Brother Where You Bound

16 minutes of pure progressive rock. If you don't consider Supertramp one of the best progressive rock bands, listen to this song. I thought Supertramp was nothing without Hodgson. Well, I was wrong. Also, this song has David Gilmour on guitar. Just listen to it. It's a masterpiece.

A masterpiece. Words cannot describe this wonderful piece of music. A classic.

Gone Hollywood

Perfect overture to the album 'Breakfast in America,' a powerful progressive track.

Don't Leave Me Now

If you've never listened to this song, you could have a great surprise.

It's high. Very high.

Really underrated song, but one of the best!

Has to be the best. Definitely up there.
