Best Dave Bickler Solo Songs

Who's Dave Bickler? He's the former lead vocalist of the 80s rock band Survivor, but Frankie Sullivan "kicked him to the curb." Here are his best solo songs, primarily from his 2018 album "Darklight."

The Top Ten
  1. Hope

Although the title could've been a bit more creative, this is a pretty strong song. Simple, but good. It's a decent metal or metal-ish song. It's not as uplifting as, say, Hope for the Future by Paul McCartney, but I think it's uplifting enough to be satisfactory.

  2. Kaleidoscope

A softer song, "Kaleidoscope" is kind of cut out of the same cloth as the song "Feels Like Love" that Dave did with Survivor. I'm not much of a ballad-oriented guy, but this is actually a pretty good song.

  3. Fear of the Dark

Fear of the Dark is cut out of the same cloth as Hope is, although Fear of the Dark is a bit more, well, dark. Dave also mentions God in Fear of the Dark, which is something he never did with Survivor.

  4. Magic

Magic actually sounds kind of like country rock at first, but it develops into that usual rock and roll voice that sings Eye of the Tiger halfway in. It has a good guitar solo, too.

  5. Time

Time sounds a lot like Hope at first, but I still think it's a pretty good song. Good beat, strong chorus, interesting lyrics. You name it, Time has got it. It reminds me of Whole Town's Talkin' (which is a great song, too).

  6. The Gift

The Gift is another happy song that sounds out of place coming from Bickler, but he still makes it work, in my opinion. Any self-respecting Survivor fan knows Dave as the Eye of the Tiger dude, but the older voice works out pretty well.

  7. Lights

At first, Lights sounds like Jamison-era Survivor. Just at first. It's actually a pretty awesome song. Fast-paced beat, upbeat tone, and so on.

  8. Another Night Alone

Technically, this song is a feat and is actually by Renato Abella, but he's on the vocals. Renato Abella, from what I can tell, isn't actually a person, but an alias or brand. Believe me when I say Another Night Alone belongs on this list.

  9. Always You

Always You sounds a bit on the bad side at first, if you were to ask me, but it kicks into the rock and roll voice, who still doesn't get his due credit 40 years later, halfway in.

  10. Sea of Green

Sea of Green is a slow song at first, but it gets that rock feeling later, and if you don't analyze the lyrics, Sea of Green sounds very upbeat.

  11. The Newcomers
  12. ?

    I Miss You

  13. ?

    The Sky is Falling

  14. The Contenders
  15. Angel Heart
