Top Ten Good Songs with Bad Lyrics

Some songs may have good production, instrumentals, beats, etc, but when you look at the lyrics, you think "do I still like this"? There is more to music than just the lyrics, and these songs are perfect examples. Most of these are rap songs, which is not surprising to me because rap music is often criticized for poor lyricism, while still having good production and/or instrumentals.
The Top Ten
Faucet Failure - Ski Mask the Slump God

"Faucet Failure" is one of my favorite rap songs due to the production and creative instrumentals. But lyrics are not one of Ski Mask the Slump God's strengths, especially not here.

"Faucet Failure" is another bragging song about how much jewelry he has, and it has some of the most cringeworthy lyrics ever.

In Da Club - 50 Cent

The instrumentals and flow are all good here, which is how it got so high up on many lists. However, the lyrics are just like many other rap songs, just about partying and sex.

In fact, I read the comments on why it's so good on the list of "Best Rap Songs," and very few even mentioned the lyrics.

This song has one of the best beats in a hip-hop song, but the lyrics don't make sense at all.

Look at Me! - Xxxtentacion
wokeuplikethis* - Playboi Carti

I'd argue that most Playboi Carti songs can be here, but this is probably his best. The lyrics are also horrible, despite the good production.

"wokeuplikethis*" is mostly about how much jewelry he has and is mostly a bragging song. He also claims to be a rockstar, even though he's a rapper, which are two very different things.

Mama Said Knock You Out - LL Cool J

While the term "dying cats" is usually used to insult bad music, LL Cool J managed to use what sounds like actual dying cats in the chorus, and it worked somehow.

However, the lyrical content of this song is sure "dying cats". He seems to be a wannabe tough guy here, proclaiming his experience in rap and his ability to knock people out.

Insane In the Brain - Cypress Hill

Perhaps this was supposed to be a meme song, but the lyrics are incredibly stupid and meaningless. The lyrics in the chorus stick out from the rest of the song and don't provide any key to understanding whatever they are trying to convey.

Back in Black - AC/DC

Unlike many "good song, bad lyrics" songs, which are predominantly rap, this is a rock song. I like the guitar and the drums, but when anyone talks about how this song is good, everybody just ignores the lyrical content.

The lyrics are very dumb and don't mean much except for proclaiming immortality.

No C*** Like Horse C*** - Pepper Coyote
Xo Tour Llif3 - Lil Uzi Vert

Emo rap usually doesn't have good lyrics, and this is no exception. The lyrics seem to be as depressing as possible, but in a parodic way, and it didn't work.

It seems like he expresses his use of Xanax because "all" of his friends are dead, while he still has some more, but they're all richer than him. Nonsense, right?

Todokete - Lil Meerkat

Cream Rahul, Cream Rahul, Rahul, Tommy is a ridiculously stupid lyric, but it's a good song.

The Newcomers

? Tik Tok - Ke$ha

It's impossible not to sing along to the chorus.

? Side to Side - Ariana Grande
The Contenders
Straight Outta Compton - N.W.A.
Fear of the Dark - Iron Maiden

The lyrics are a bit immature, but it's a great song nevertheless.

Can't help myself singing along, though.

Tell Me When to Go - E-40

This song is an anthem of the "Hyphy" movement, which is a style of rap from Alameda (Oakland, San Leandro), Contra Costa (Richmond, Antioch), and Solano (Vallejo, Fairfield) Counties in Western California.

While "Things'll Never Change" and "Choices (Yup)" both have great lyrics, "Tell Me When to Go" has some of the most meaningless lyrics of all time. Some involve bragging about how low his hometown's quality of life is, and others are about cars breaking down. I really don't get what there is to brag about in that.

24k Magic - Bruno Mars
I Am an Outsider - Three Days Grace
Human - The Killers

"Are we human, or are we dancer?" is the most well-known line from this song. Judging just by this, you can tell that this is not a lyrically strong song.

While many people have tried to interpret it somehow, none of the band members have ever revealed what it means. The rest of the lyrics don't make much sense either.

Blitzkrieg Bop - Ramones
Werewolves of London - Warren Zevon
Kill You - Eminem
Bad Guy - Billie Eilish

I've never understood what this song is about.

Hymn for the Weekend - Coldplay
Immigrant Song - Led Zeppelin
Yeah! - Usher
Hash Pipe - Weezer

I love Mikey Welsh's riff, but the lyrics kind of ruin it for me, though.

Pork and Beans - Weezer

The lyrics to this song are just so stupid. Ironically, that's the reason why I love it.
