Top 10 Musician's Opinions About Music that are Probably True

This list is the opposite of my list Top 10 Musician's Opinions About Music that are Probably False
The Top Ten
1 Alice Cooper on Marilyn Manson: He has a woman's name and wears makeup. How original.

That's true - Marilyn Manson has a woman's name (Marilyn) and wears makeup.
The 2nd sentence is also true: Marilyn Manson isn't original - he ripped off namely Alice Cooper who has a woman's name (Alice) and wears makeup.

It's apparently original when Alice Cooper does the exact same thing though...

2 Kirk Hammett: The same sensations that you get in heavy metal are in horror movies. Heavy metal sounds evil and horror movies are evil, ha ha!

Many metal bands get their ideas from Horror Movies ex. Cannibal Corpse sings about horrific and gruesome stories that you would find in horror movies because they based their lyrics off of them.

Kirk Hammett of Metallica described it very well I have to admit.

3 Lemmy on Motorhead: We were not heavy metal. We were a rock 'n' roll band. Still are. Everyone always describes us as heavy metal even when I tell them otherwise. Why won't people listen?
4 Dave Mustaine: I’m not a great singer

Yes, Dave Mustaine of Megadeth knows his strengths and limitations.
You know what, I respect Mustaine for admitting that. At least he isn't delusional like most of the pop and rap singers who can't hit a note properly without autotune but think they are the best.

Kind of disagree. He doesn't have a beautiful voice but he makes it work and he can hit the notes.

5 Keith Richards on Chuck Berry: I lifted every lick he ever played. Keith Richards is an English musician—primarily a guitarist—singer, songwriter, best-selling memoirist, and founding member of the rock band The Rolling Stones.
6 Lemmy: Guitar is the best instrument to pose and look cool playing. You can't pose playing a tuba, can you? Ian Fraser Kilmister, known as Lemmy, was an English musician, singer and songwriter who founded and fronted the rock band Motörhead. He was a bassist and a singer known for his raspy voice. He died in 2015 from cancer and other health problems.

You can but the results will be lame.

7 Angus Young: I’m sick to death of people saying we’ve made 11 albums that sound exactly the same. In fact, we’ve made 12 albums that sound exactly the same Angus McKinnon Young is an Australian guitarist of Scottish origin, best known as the co-founder, lead guitarist, songwriter and sole constant member of the Australian hard rock band AC/DC. When performing live he does his own version of Chuck Berry's "duck walk" and has also spun on his side while... read more

If someone insults you insult yourself to correct them.

8 Ritchie Blackmore on B.B. King: You can’t say it all with just four notes.

See to me it's not about how many notes you can play. Or how technical and fast you can perform. Or how well you can sing every note. Music is much more than that. It's about getting creative, being able to take ideas, form them into something fresh and new. Take what you have and try to make something worth while out of it. Being able to play good doesn't mean you'll be able to make a song just as good. You just gotta be creative. So in a way, if someone is creative enough, they can make a song using only four notes.

9 Geezer Butler: If you are a pop band, don't say you're a metal band. Poison and Warrant were about as metal as the Backstreet Boys
10 Tom DeLonge: Looking cool is like 90% of music, or maybe even 93%.

This is very true, sadly, a lot of music artists, especially pop artists (all countries)with the exception of a few (Lady Gaga) are famous for being good looking rather than their talent. You can see Kpop artists being famous just for getting plastic surgery and being attractive. How many singers in the music industry are just a pretty face, but has no talent? Katy Perry, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Ross Lynch, Justin Bieber, etc. There is many more. This includes almost all genres.

I so much agree with this because sadly, it's true. Metal music is an exception.

The Contenders
11 Ritchie Blackmore on punk and heavy metal: Metal is better than punk, which means inferior.

This may sound pretentious and snobbish but I think it's true. And because it's true, it shouldn't be labeled "pretentious" / "snobbish".
I think it's true because I myself have compared punk and metal many times and metal wins - I've compared singers, guitarists, drummers, lyrics, and songwriting in general. And metal is better. Metal is harder to write and play.
However, I can't deny punk influenced extreme metal, esp. hardcore punk, but this is a different story.

I hate it when people compare genre.

12 Jon Schaffer: Record companies need to start realizing that they have got to come in as partners of the bands instead of being the pimps and we’re their whores. That’s the way that artists have been treated for far too long.
13 Morrissey: Madonna reinforces everything absurd and offensive. Desperate womanhood. Madonna is closer to organised prostitution than anything else.
14 Lorde: A lot of musicians think they can do pop, and the ones who don’t succeed are the ones who don’t have the reverence, who think it’s just a dumb version of other music.

I must admit I can think of an exception namely Colors by Halsey (an amazing pop song by an artist who did not seem to think she was pop at the time). In general though I find that every great pop star has that reverence so yes I agree.

Actually it's really hard. Harmonies, vocal effect, mixing...

15 Jon Bon Jovi on Justin Bieber: He’s a music idiot.

This isn't entirely true. He's not a music idiot. He's just an idiot in general.

16 Chester Bennington: Success is nice, but it shouldn't be the only reason why you're a musician
17 Sir Christopher Lee: I associate heavy metal with fantasy because of the tremendous power that metal music delivers

Yes, he's also a musician because he released several metal albums and he was a classically trained singer with a bassy voice.
