Top 10 Reasons Why You Should Listen to Epic: The Musical

Epic: The Musical is a concept album based on Homer's Odyssey. The music is composed by Jorge Rivera-Herrans and performed by a cast of multiple singers.

  1. The voices of each character are spot-on

    I do not have a complaint with any of the voices at all. They're all perfect.

  2. It is a modern retelling of a classic

    It does a great job of telling the stories too.

    Just don't use Epic instead of reading The Odyssey for school.

  3. It is a show, not tell, type of musical where the instruments and vocals tell you the story

    If you need to compare this to something that is more of a "tell" musical, check out the cut song "Ismarus." Athena is narrating for a good part of the musical.

  4. The story is easy to follow

    You can definitely tell what's going on. You don't need to read The Odyssey to understand the story.

  5. The music is catchy

    This isn't only my opinion. There are different types of music in the musical and all the songs sound great. There isn't a bad song in this.

  6. The music is varied

    If you listen to Different Beast, Just a Man, There Are Other Ways, and Wouldn't You Like, you will understand what I mean. There are so many different songs, each with its own unique style.

    And yet they're all still connected. Beautiful.

  7. It features the song "Dangerous"

    Everybody loves Hermes, even if he's not their favorite. His songs are great, especially this one.

  8. The music takes a lot of inspiration from video game music, such as comparing "Dearly Beloved" from Kingdom Hearts to the end of "Thunder Bringer" in Epic

    These sound very similar and they both sound really nice. I love it.

  9. The list of reasons that Jorge Rivera-Herrans gave for why we should listen to the Vengeance Saga includes a very convincing "whee!"

    This was the best list of reasons ever.

    Check out Gigi's animatics, Zieru's Dangerous animatic, Slander's Wouldn't You Like animatic, and even the official animatics, namely the one for Little Wolf. They're great, honestly.
