Top 10 Best Ronnie James Dio Albums
This is a hard choice, as his best solo, Rainbow, and Black Sabbath albums are all so close. But I think Holy Diver just about takes the title. A true classic without a single duff song on it. Probably - no, definitely - one of the top five rock albums of all time that doesn't age.
Dio's voice and Campbell's guitar playing have never been better, and the chemistry with Bain and Appice shines through. I think I'll go and put this on now!
Exactly. You could also argue for Rising and Long Live Rock 'n' Roll. The thing is, though, Rising only has six songs. While that's not a big deal, it does limit the album a little bit. But you could most definitely argue.
A complete powerhouse. The album art sums it up perfectly.
One of the first power metal albums. Legendary.
I personally think that Rainbow Rising is overrated. The best, most definitive RJD albums? Heaven and Hell, Holy Diver, Dream Evil, and Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow.
Every song on Heaven and Hell and Holy Diver is excellent, and they are my favorite RJD albums. If Heaven and Hell is a 10, then Holy Diver is a 9.99.
Why on earth wasn't this album on the list? Give Her the Gun, Strange Highways, Here's to You - some of Ronnie's most powerful vocal work is right here on this album.
This album is very underrated and awesome.
Ritchie and Ronnie were at their best here.
The most underrated Ronnie album.
This is a seriously underrated album. With awesome classics like All the Fools Sailed Away, Naked in the Rain, and Sunset Superman, it deserves more recognition. Not to mention the title track! It definitely deserves to be higher on the list.
