Best Songs on Soulfly's 3

3 is the third studio album by Soulfly. The album was recorded at Chaton Studios in Phoenix, Arizona, and was released on June 25, 2002, through Roadrunner Records. This album marks the point where Soulfly began moving away from their nu-metal sound and incorporating more thrash/groove metal elements while maintaining their world music influences.

Similar to the previous album, 3 features a sequel to the self-titled song, which on this album is track number three, again stylized in Roman numerals.

The album artwork features the Om (ॐ), a spiritual icon in Indian religions.

Both of the first two tracks were the only singles released from the album: "Downstroy" and "Seek 'n' Strike."

"One" fuses growling vocals from Max Cavalera with gripping vocals from Ill Niño's Christian Machado. The song uses its title as the first word in two-word clauses per line: "One soul / One heart / One man / One truth / One tribe / One life / One God."

"L.O.T.M." (an acronym for "Last of the Mohicans") is a Native American-themed metal song named after the 1826 novel of the same name.

"Brasil" is a Brazilian metal song featuring the berimbau and several percussion instruments performed by Cavalera. The song addresses overcoming the challenges posed by Rio de Janeiro's poor government by praying for change.

"One Nation" begins and ends with a recording of the Pledge of Allegiance, referencing the line "One Nation" from the pledge. This track is a cover of "One Nation" originally recorded by Sacred Reich.

"09-11-01" is a one-minute silence included as a tribute to the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

"Call to Arms" addresses terrorists directly in an aggressive and typical metal style.

"Tree of Pain" is notable for its ballad-like segments at the beginning and end, lasting about two minutes each, with a heavy metal riff and Cavalera's growls in the middle. This song is a tribute to Cavalera's stepson, Dana Wells, who was killed in 1996.

"Zumbi" and "Soulfly III" are world music-influenced tracks that showcase the band's global inspirations.

"Under the Sun" is a bonus track and a cover of the Black Sabbath song. It was originally recorded for the Nativity in Black II album, a tribute to Black Sabbath.
