Top 10 Most Unfairly and Harshly Hated Musical Artists

The Top Ten
1 Justin Bieber Justin Drew Bieber (born March 1, 1994) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and record producer. He currently resides in Ontario, Canada and is Christian. He is the son of author Pattie Mallette... read more

I'm not surprised Justin Bieber is on this list. Do I approve of spitting on people? NO. Do I approve of cheating on one's wife? NO. But do I approve of acting like Justin Bieber is the worst person on the planet just because of these things? No.

It's really ironic how Justin Bieber haters shame him for all the questionable things he has done, yet they excessively hate on him by bullying, trolling, verbally abusing, and insulting him. They think that all of that is okay for some reason. Some even wish death on him. They have been treating him like that since he started his music career at 15, when he was innocent before he did anything wrong.

It's almost like they believe that if they do anything wrong, it's "perfectly fine" and "okay," but if Justin does anything wrong, even if it's not as bad as what they do, they shame him for it all the time. This shows that JB haters live in their own world and don't care if what they do makes them look stupid, ironic, immature, or hypocritical. They will go for it just to hate on Justin Bieber. The JB hatebase is one of the worst hatebases ever.

2 Nickelback Nickelback is a Canadian post-grunge band formed in 1995 in Hanna, Alberta, Canada. The band is composed of guitarist and lead vocalist Chad Kroeger, guitarist, keyboardist and backing vocalist Ryan Peake, bassist Mike Kroeger, and drummer Daniel Adair.

I wouldn't call them good, but they're definitely more what I would think of as "don't really care for them" bad than "worst rock band ever to sign a record deal" bad.

Their music is generic, sure, but they've made some good songs and they are nice guys in real life, apparently.

Their music is good, honestly. I never understood why they got this much hate. Similarly to Justin Bieber, it's probably a case of people bandwagoning.

3 One Direction One Direction (commonly abbreviated as 1D) were a British-Irish pop boy band based in London, composed of Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and previously, Zayn Malik until his departure from the band on 25 March 2015. The group signed with Simon Cowell's record label Syco Records... read more

Sure, it's easy to hate on 1D because of their hysterical fans or their generic music, but some of the boys from 1D have really come a long way in terms of artistry. Harry Styles is a prime example.

4 Rebecca Black Rebecca Black is a YouTube personality and singer who's infamous for her 2011 single "Friday," which was the most disliked video on YouTube until "Baby" by Justin Bieber became the most disliked video in 2012. She has also released other songs, including "My Moment" and "Saturday".

I'm shocked that nobody added her to this list, so I did. When "Friday" first came out, people started bashing it and acting like it was the worst thing ever. She was just a young teenager when this song was released, and she ended up getting bullied and receiving death threats because of it.

It seems that she has since distanced herself from "Friday," but the amount of hate and death threats she received was extremely harsh and undeserved. People label her as one of the worst singers of all time solely because of that song.

5 Taylor Swift Taylor Alison Swift is an American singer-songwriter. She was born on December 13, 1989, in Reading, Pennsylvania. Swift is best known for writing personal songs and has won 13 Grammy Awards... read more

The treatment she has received over her past relationships was just unfair. Some people called her a "crazy ex-girlfriend" just for pouring her heart out. Now she finally has a long-lasting relationship and no one talks about it. I guess that's a good thing.

She actually has a GOOD VOICE and GOOD SONGS. I haven't been listening to any of her more recent songs, but all the songs from around 2001-2017 are REALLY good. She gets way too much hate for the substantial amount of talent that she has.

She has made some questionable songs, but her entire discography does not suck. People are just bandwagoning.

6 Pitbull Armando Christian PĂ©rez, better known by his stage name Pitbull, is a Grammy (and Latin Grammy) winning Cuban-American rapper, songwriter and record producer.
7 Hopsin Marcus Jamal Hopson, better known by his stage name Hopsin, is an American rapper, record producer, director and actor from Los Angeles, California. Hopsin was born on July 18, 1985. His first album was called Emurge but he's best known for his album titled Raw.
8 Bono Paul David Hewson, known by his stage name Bono, is an Irish singer-songwriter, musician, venture capitalist, businessman, and philanthropist. His original nickname was Bono Vox which means "big voice".

I know he's pretentious to some people and that others are mad at him because of U2 dropping their album on everyone's iPhones without their consent. However, he's a great man who does a lot of charity work.

9 John Mayer John Clayton Mayer is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Mayer attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, but disenrolled and moved to Atlanta in 1997 with Clay Cook. Together, they formed a short-lived two-man band called Lo-Fi Masters.

Wow, that comment about Jessica Simpson. Sigh. What was he thinking? However, I will concede that a lot of people seem to claim his music is bad without much of a concrete reason.

I just found out he plays on Pyramids by Frank Ocean, so that on its own puts him in my good books as a musician, at least.

10 Linkin Park Linkin Park is an American alternative rock band formed in Agoura Hills, California, in 1996. The current members include Mike Shinoda (vocals, keyboards, rhythm guitar), Brad Delson (guitar), Dave "Phoenix" Farrell (bass), Joe Hahn (DJ), and Rob Bourdon (drums). Linkin Park is associated with a mixture... read more

Those who hate their music or think of their lyrics as overly dramatic probably have no idea what Chester Bennington went through during his youth and his battle with depression, which ultimately got the better of him.

They are not a bad band. They have three good songs, in my opinion. They shouldn't get hated.

The Contenders
11 Selena Gomez Selena Marie Gomez is an American actress and singer. She is best known for songs like "Come & Get It", "Good For You", "Same Old Love", and "It Ain't Me". Selena Gomez's voice is mezzo-soprano but she usually sings in alto. She is best known for her role as Alex Russo in Wizards of Waverly Place.

Whether it's because she dated Justin Bieber when they were young or because she made silly pop songs, she doesn't deserve the hate she gets.

I wouldn't say she's an amazing act or anything, and I can definitely understand why someone would dislike her music (even if I honestly like a lot of her songs). However, she is a frequent target of the "not a real music artist" criticism and gets a bunch of personal attacks for little discernible reason.

12 Bring Me the Horizon Bring Me the Horizon is a British rock band from Sheffield, Yorkshire. Formed in 2004, the group currently consists of vocalist Oliver Sykes, guitarist Lee Malia, bassist Matt Kean, drummer Matt Nicholls, and keyboardist Jordan Fish. They are signed to RCA Records globally and Columbia Records exclusively... read more

I bet there are two types of people who hate BMTH: (1) people who hate metalcore, and (2) people who hated their change in genre. Needless to say, BMTH is a great band, even when they sound "poppier."

17 Marilyn Manson Brian Hugh Warner, better known by his stage name Marilyn Manson, is an American musician, songwriter, actor, painter, multimedia artist, author, and former music journalist.

I mean, he does have some damning sexual assault allegations against him, and he's burned a Bible before.

18 Sexyy Red

The hate on Sexyy Red is just blown out of proportion. Sure, her music may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it is definitely not for everyone. If you don't like Sexyy Red (or female rap in general), just stay away from her music and move on! Thank you.

19 Kesha Kesha Rose Sebert (formerly known as Ke$ha) was born on March 1st, 1987 in Los Angeles, United States. She is best known for her hits like Timber, Tik Tok, and We R Who We R... read more

When Kesha became famous, she faced a lot of hate because of her formulaic songs, heavy use of AutoTune, and party girl image. However, people tend to forget she has vocal talent, which shows on "Prayin'."

20 Austin Mahone Austin Carter Mahone is an American singer and songwriter. He is currently signed to Young Money Entertainment, Cash Money Records and Republic Records.

What has this guy been up to lately? He made like 1-2 moderate hits then disappeared. I guess some people hated him for trying to sound like Bieber.

23 Post Malone Austin Richard Post (born July 4, 1995), known professionally as Post Malone, is an American singer, rapper, songwriter, record producer, and guitarist.

I understand that some people hate him because most of his songs sound the same or because of his raspy vocals. However, he's very friendly in real life and is definitely someone I would have a drink with.

At least he knows his music sucks. He said it himself. And he's a cool dude, no doubt about that.

24 Lady Gaga Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, known professionally as Lady Gaga, is an American singer, songwriter, and actress.

On the start of her career, she performed at an event called the Lollapalooza Festival during 2007 whereby a record label company Interscope found her due to her performance... read more

Only hated for being authentic. She has her influences, but she doesn't copy Madonna even though she tends to sound like her sometimes. She's a very talented singer and a respectful person.

She's often criticized for being nothing more than a Madonna copycat.

The band is known for their graphic album covers, explicitly violent lyrics and song titles like "I C** Blood" The group got into mainstream after performing the song "Hammer Smashed Face" in the 1994 film Ace Ventura:... read more

Cannibal Corpse isn't a band that is supposed to be taken seriously. Their songs can be seen as extreme and gross, but they are like a horror movie in music form. A lot of the band members seem like cool and nice people.
